MILF = Mother I'd Like to "Fook"
And considering that you're a mother... and if someone wanted to have sex with you knowing that you are a mother, then you are a MILF... and that is not a negative thing.
And you're only a cougar if you are a sexual older woman who wants younger guys... and that doesn't mean you're a slut... but it does imply sexuality and that you have a very healthy sex drive.
I don't consider being a cougar to be any more negative than when an older guy dates a younger girl.
Miss_Contemplative,
I've been called a "cougar" before...by my sons' friends...and I find the term highly offensive. It's also more just a sign of their wishful thinking than it is a reflection on me.
And I don't need the flattery of 20 year old men to feel worthwhile...but I have met some women who I would definitely classify as "cougars" in that they are predatorial females who prey on younger boys sexual appetites.
You shouldn't feel insulted, you should feel flattered. You're in your 40s and these boys think you're not just attractive, but hot. Whether you need the flattery to feel worthwhile is irrelevant... just take the compliment and stop complaining.
And a cougar is not a sexual predator... that's a pedophile/rapist.

| What do you think about cougars? Posted: 5/12/2009 7:29:57 AM | Au contraire Zeke...I do NOT appreciate being called a "milf"...
It objectifies a person. If someone called you a sugar daddy would you consider it attractive?
|
| What do you think about cougars? Posted: 5/12/2009 8:08:51 AM | Miss_comtemplative,
Objectify... what does that mean? It means "make impersonal or present as an object".
Arguably, you get objectified just as much by being called "employee", "driver" or any other term to describe a person that doesn't describe them fully.
If someone called me a Sugar Daddy, I would find it to be amusing... and my reaction would be "what makes you say that?"... And I would think it's amusing because I don't use money to attract younger women. And if someone called me a "FILF" (Father I'd Like to Fook... because I am in fact a father), I'd be flattered... and then I'd tell the young girl to go find someone her own age.
Also... consider the alternative... would you really rather be a MIWF (Mother I Won't "Fook")... implying that you're UN-attractive?
Look... You're a mother... that's a fact. In some boys eyes you're attractive enough that they fantasize about you... which means you're probably attractive. Hence, "MILF" is one aspect of you that says you're attractive and sexy.
And that's not a bad thing.
Now if they were describing you as 'a nice piece of @ss', that would be crossing the line in terms of objectification in my view...
|
| What do you think about cougars? Posted: 5/12/2009 10:46:51 AM | Yes yes Zeke...you're right and your argument was good, re: the driver, employee
However, I still don't like to be called a milf and young boys fantasies aren't something I worry about.
I still think it's a lame term to use in reference to anyone. Just my personal take on it.

| What do you think about cougars? Posted: 5/12/2009 11:00:31 AM | Cougars are large cats that can be very dangerous. They have sharp teeth and claws. They are usually found out in the wild. Cougars that live in the mountains are called mountain lions. Some sports teams use a cougar as their mascot....I think they are fun to watch just like any big wild cat on all those nature shows...Oh wait, I think I have misunderstood this question. I prefer human women myself. But that is just me. To each their own... | |
|
| What do you think about cougars? Posted: 5/12/2009 11:04:02 AM | I will say that I am very proud to be a cougar. I have been in the "Cougar" practice for over 10 years now. Never truly dated anybody older than me, never been attracted to them, never had the desire.
I love being a cougar and will most likely be a cougar till I die!
But there is nothing like the ULTIMATE cougar relationship...Ashton and Demi!
That is just true bliss!' '

I've met a slew of mothers who seemed unable to separate that functional role from their core identities, and the presence, if not simple existence, of her children, whether in actual close proximity, or simply on her mind even when her children are out of sensory range, too frequently works as a powerful sexuality repressor. It's as if there's some lofty rule that is visited upon Mothers, who having experienced sex for procreation, turn into quasi nuns, and no longer fvck, no more forever. And that morphed self-image is sacrosanct- woe be the man who slurs it with sexual innuendo. Kinda like propositioning a nun.

| What do you think about cougars? Posted: 5/12/2009 11:18:11 AM | I also meant to add on this subject that cougars are very fury and seem warm and cuddly until you cross the path of one out in the wild(bars, clubs)..If you are not careful they will get you and bite you, but with proper training and the right equipment and preparation, one can fend off a massive cougar when she jumps you, err, ummm so to speak that is. | |

That is because when we become mothers, our job is to protect, raise and see our children off into the world. So for a large percentage of women the idea of having sex with someone the same age as our children is nauseating. Maybe because we invest so much effort making sure our children arent taken advantage of, arent making stupid decisions when they are teens and young adults and trying to help them navigate the world, some of us see having sex with what to us are essentially barely grown children almost as going against nature. This isnt a slam at anyone, just what I think many women feel when the idea of being a "cougar" is brought up.

And if someone called me a "FILF"
Well, from ages to 38 til 48, bring it on... I understand her point, how she doesn't think it's flattering. She doesn't want his son friends to look at her like that, but it's unlikely that will change. Sorry.. Boys will be boys.

| What do you think about cougars? Posted: 5/13/2009 5:17:45 AM | What do you think about cougars? Hey cougars are just fine with me but I don't get the point to it all. Is this the new trend for women who want to get even with men who have for years "robbed the cradle" in a manner of speaking? Honestly, why does there need to be some kind of TAG on everything? If a woman dates a younger man, older man or one her own age, what difference does it really make? If the guy is younger does it give the woman bragging rights? I hear a lot of this "you go girl" stuff and it kinda makes me nauseous. Whatever happened to LOVE? What ever happened to Boy meets Girl or Girl meets Boy? Liking or falling in Love with another person, and not considering the age, physical beauty, money and power, but just a nice loving person? Age, younger or older should have no bearing.
What I don't also understand is this. . The theory is that women hit their "peak" sexually in their 40s and 50s. The childrearing is done and now its "their" time. Yet some women still have this attitude of "entitlement" or expect to be compensated when they finally do the "wild thing". Women "Cougars" as the saying goes, apparently want to come across as these liberated women, yet retain these "old fashioned attitudes" of expecting committment and exclusivity from a man. I hear all the time that the woman needs to have "feelings" for the guy before she indulges". Why can't women just enjoy the pleasure of the activity itself and not expect more out of it than what it is? Also I hear women in their 50s still talk about "giving it up". I mean honestly, didn't you "give it up" a long long time ago? If it is your time now, Cougars, why not just enjoy you life. Live and Love. We all only go this way once!
Please ladies, know that we men love you and this is only something to think about. Have a great day!

This is the BIGGEST problem with labels. You are suggesting that "cougars" are ONLY in it for the sex. WRONG !!!!! oh so wrong.
I do not understand why people can not accept that if a man wants and can have a RELATIONSHIP with a woman much younger than himself then why can not women also?
Does it mean that if a woman likes men younger than herself that she is only wanting to get boiinked and not in it for a relationship? Or is that just too shallow for you to accept.
Accept that there are lots of women who would rather have a RELATIONSHIP/PARTNER with a man younger than themselves and quit throwing women under the train for doing the SAME things men do without insinuating that these women want to just get off and on to the next. That is called a whore, woman whore and man whore.
It not JUST about sex, it's the whole tamale ... sheesh seriously do men at 50 really think that women at 50 can't have a real relationship with a man 35 - 40 ??? Or is it sticking the preverbal head in the sand to discover that hey women your age might not desire you as much as you thought they would/should.

| What do you think about cougars? Posted: 5/13/2009 5:48:13 AM | In the context of being with a mature and more experienced woman that would be a dream come true. This thread is confusing because I thought that a cougar was a large carnivorous cat. ..oh the things that turn people on this days. Yeah seriously how would you react if you crossed the path of a starving cougar out in the wild... Oh the things folks think of these days....when the definition of a cougar(a large carnivorous cat) is being used to describe an older woman who hunts poor helpless human males. | |

| What do you think about cougars? Posted: 5/13/2009 6:12:32 AM | SavonaWoman: I'm sorry, I know that sometimes things that I might say may go over like a "lead balloon". I definitely agree with you whole heartedly, it is NOT just about SEX. Thats NOT how I meant it to sound. I'm only referring to all this talk, (in this thread and others) that a woman peaks sexually a lot later in life than men. To take it one step further, this makes it appear that older women, "cougars" may seek younger male partners because apparently the notion is that men in their age bracket can no long perform as well. I for one can tell you in my case, I feel like I still haven't reached my peak, but thats another subject for another time.
By all means Savona, its NOT that she only wants to be "boinked" as you say. (btw, honestly, I don't use terms like that when it comes to love making). I wish you wouldn't think of me as shallow but you can feel what you feel. I NEVER felt that way about women, the part where you say "Accept that there are lots of women who would rather have a RELATIONSHIP/PARTNER with a man younger than themselves and quit throwing women under the train for doing the SAME things men do without insinuating that these women want to just get off and on to the next. That is called a whore, woman whore and man whore." Women are not whores, and neither are men. We are human beings and we need love and affection. If there's something wrong with that then "Stop the world, I want to get off".
I have no problems with women my age desiring me. I haven't had any problems with any women any age desiring me. Not all women desire me, and I don't expect them to, just as I don't desire all women. I'm agreeing with you and you want to insuate me. I don't get it? Women deserve the same rights to love and I would be the last man to throw any woman under the bus for that!

You can call me a FILF any time...

| What do you think about cougars? Posted: 5/13/2009 7:29:30 AM | ^^^ I have always wondered why when a person says they don't like to be referred in a particular way that some people just can't stop. Knowing that it is offensive to a person that they just have to keep pushing it down their throat.
I guess it is easy to see why some people remain single. Its called respect for another's feelings.

| What do you think about cougars? Posted: 5/13/2009 7:35:57 AM | The idea of a being attacked by a large carnivorous cat is scary to me.. But some people have weird desires. Mature and more experienced women with lots of wisdom are awesome. When I visit the zoo this summer if catch anyone messing with the cougar exhibit I am going to notify the proper authorities. Savona,
And other people are still single because they put effort into inventing problems where there are none.
And I didn't continue to call her that term... but simply made a small joke that she could call me the male equivalent of that any time if she chooses.
If the general female population were to find that offensive (and I'm pretty sure the general female population DOESN'T), then I'd rather stay single.

| What do you think about cougars? Posted: 5/13/2009 7:59:56 AM | The cougar has numerous names in English, of which puma and mountain lion are popular. Other names include catamount, panther, mountain screamer, and painter. Lexicographers regard painter as a primarily upper-Southern U.S. regional variant on "panther",but a folk etymology, fancying a resemblance between the typically dark tip of its tail and a paintbrush dipped in dark paint, has some currency.
The cougar holds the Guinness record for the animal with the highest number of names, presumably due to its wide distribution across North and South America. It has over 4000 names in English alone.
"Cougar" is borrowed from the Portuguese çuçuarana, via French; the term was originally derived from the Tupi language. A current form in Brazil is suçuarana. "Puma" comes, via Spanish, from the Quechua language
Though capable of sprinting, the cougar is typically an ambush predator. It stalks through brush and trees, across ledges, or other covered spots, before delivering a powerful leap onto the back of its prey and a suffocating neck bite. The cougar is capable of breaking the neck of some of its smaller prey with a strong bite and momentum bearing the animal to the ground. When cougars do attack, they usually employ their characteristic neck bite, attempting to position their teeth between the vertebrae and into the spinal cord. Neck, head, and spinal injuries are common and sometimes fatal.

I like it!!! Lol. But I it's always cool to dig into the source of our words. Most of them are just the tip of myths and legends, druids and runes, satyrs and nymphs, fvcking or fighting, set in storybook forests, all at a time when humans were not necessarily at the top of the food chain.
Thanks, ICORUCKING2. Fascinating exercise.

LOL I have a daughter 24 years old so I can understand how you must feel. Nothing would be more embarrassing than to meet the father or mother of those making the offers and finding out they are younger than you!
Myself, I get plenty of emails, but mostly from older women! I love it ladies and keep them coming but sometimes I feel like I'm beginning to wonder if I'm old hat! I feel, look and act young and feel like I'm hitting my peak myself! Seems the older I've gotten the more my libido has picked up! So, I'd love to hear from some of you younger ones! Come on ladies, make an old guy feel good! I'll make you feel good! Experienced man here in the waiting! Go get em all you "Cougars!"
Just enjoy and have fun. You go girls! LOL
