Well, not sure about the term "cougar" (whether I like it or not, I mean), but the main reason that an older woman goes for a younger man is MINDSET. She wants to have fun and enjoy herself - and yes, younger men have a much stronger sex drive, soooo......

I guess I'm in the "cougar" catagory, being 40-something, and for me, it's not really about chronological age, it's about being young in your head and in your heart. I don't feel anywhere NEAR my chronological age (if course, I'm comparing myself to other 40-somethings that seem to have lost their mojo, so really, who knows WHAT my chronological age is supposed to feel like.. ) and apparently, I don't look it, either, as I've been told (and yes - it's a fantastic ego boost to hear that!). So, yes, younger men are often more to my tastes in MINDSET, but that doesn't mean that if a fella that was older and is young in body and soul that I'd write him off 'cos of his chronological age.

It has NOTHING to do with feeling old or unattractive and trying to get your "groove" back - in fact, its' just the opposite! I want to talk about fun things - not just work. I want to go and see live music - and not the Philharmonic! I want to go dancing - and not ballroom. Basically, in the words of Weezer,

I'm a do the things that I wanna do
I ain't got a thing to prove to you
I eat my candy with the pork and beans
Excuse my manners if I make a scene
I ain't gonna wear the clothes that you like
I'm fine and dandy with the me inside
I look in the mirror and I'm tickled pink
I don't give a hoot about what you think

Eh, I dunno.

I'd say that old, fat, bald men would be more appealing to date than old, fat, bald women!

I used to love that Cougar in the Mercury commercials. You know, the one that always sat on top of the sign and growled! I have no idea how he was ever able to climb up that slippery metal pole though.

I had my first sex with a cougar. worked carrying groceries out of a little open air market about 14. Same lady came in often, had me carry her stuff out. One time parked way in the back, ticked me off how far. when I reached in to put the stuff in the back of her station wagon, she ran her hands up under my shirt from behind, said she had a special tip for me and gave me the most memorable blow job any boy at that age couild have. She came back every week, taught me what fingers and tongues were for and hot to avoid leaving a Clinton on her clothes. My boss knew what was going on and I found out afterward she shared me with her friend. I ended p with both of them over time andit was fantastic. they were in their late 30's which was "cougar" age then but today I think itis more 40's. great stuff.

Big22Blue,
14??? That is not a Cougar, that is a Pedophile.
You were 14, and that's illegal.
No different than an older man with a 14 year old girl.
Say what you might, but no matter how you say how great it was, it's still wrong and illegal whether consentual or not.

Seven,
You said...
...and yes, younger men have a much stronger sex drive...

My response...Bullsh*t!!!
Maybe the guys you've been with had a poor sex drive, but not all of us men in the 45+ bracket are that way. I've forgotten more about sex than most 20-ish guys even know, still want sex as much as ever, and I sure as Hell know how to take my time and please my lover much better than some kid who's gonna prematurely ejaculate.

A Cougar is a large carnivorous cat. You can go to the zoo and see them.

hardengineering: I support you brother and you are exactly right. Sounds like statutory rape to me regarding that 14 year old thing. If that was a man they be hanging him up by his "you know whats". That was wrong. Of course, we men glorify that kind of thing, but I hate to admit it, thats how stupid we men are. It all has to do with upbringing. That woman should have been arrested and spent some time in the slammer for doing that to that young man.

I agree with you too regarding the sex drive thing. I feel like I haven't reached my peak. Would a younger woman be on my horizon? Time will tell......

Seven: Where do you get your information from? Higher sex drive in younger guys?
Come see me sometime and I'll show you a sex-drive that would pleasantly surprise you, that is of course, if you could handle it. Ciao!

Sorry, hardengineering... didn't mean to offend. But, yes, it HAS been MY personal experience. I never understood wtf that was all about either, as I had heard that men NEVER lose their sex drive. Yet the ones I was with were always too tired or too stressed (and here I thought that sex was a stress RELIEVER! ).

I certainly will agree with you on ONE point here... older guys generally know what they're doing better than younger guys! It's just that younger guys TRY so hard!

(Geez, looking at this, it sounds like I'm some kind of sex monster!! My experiences have not been THAT extensive!! )

Hardengineering,

14??? That is not a Cougar, that is a Pedophile.
You were 14, and that's illegal.

It is if it happened during a time/place when the age of consent was 14.

For example... it would be perfectly legal if it happened in Canada before 2008.

There is two sides of the law... the letter and the spirit.

The spirit of Age-of-consent laws is to protect kids from adults who are in a position of power over them.

The problem is that some Officers and some in the legal field have conveniently forgotten this basic premis of the legal system and instead just focus on making as many sensational arrests/convictions as possible to make themselves "look good".

Clearly what Big22Blue is talking about was definitely consentual... and it would only be technically illegal depending on specifically where and specifically when it happened.

There is a big legal debate and a demand for reform that's going on that some of these age-of-consent laws do more harm than good... like in cases where an 'underaged' girl texted an racy picture of herself to her 'underaged' boyfriend... and they BOTH got charged and now they're both labeled as "sex offenders" by the overzealous police and legal system.

Or in cases where an "underaged" girl gets into a bar with fake id, she hits it off with a guy, they have sex and he gets nailed for "statutory rape"... yet if saw a picture of this person, they would NOT look anything like a "child".

This issue isn't as cut and dried as you think it is.

Personally I think the prudent course of action would be for anyone to verify the age of any person who looks like they're in their "early 20s" by checking their drivers licence, checking their birth certificate and also seeing if they have any credit cards. And even then, if you get presented with fake ID and prove that you did, in some places you'll still likely be found criminally responsible.

well guys, it was more than consensual, it was wonderful and I'd do it again and again and again. I was 6' tall and 180 lbs. so I'm sure she didn't know I was 14. and your comments about gettig sucked into these things is a problem. girls at 14 dress like 24 but guys are still as gangly and goofy as ever!

What do I think about cougars...good question. I was camping with a bunch of Boy Scouts a long time ago and, while searching for one of them that walked away from the fire (at night, in the mountains) and got a wee bit lost, one of them jumped right past me.

Kinda scared me a bit, ya know. Ever since then, I've not been a big fan of close-up cougars.

Who the hell claimed the name of 'cougar' for older women? What do they call older men that date younger women? A leather bag, perhaps?

I live in BC and it's cougar country.
I lived on a farm in my formative years and I used to walk up to the higher pastures to check on our 200 head of purebred hereford cattle for my dad. He wanted me to check for any carcasses that were laying about. Then it would indicate that bears or cougars had been there. I did find a calf that was killed by a predator and it looked like cougar kill. They have a way about ....huh...??? ....What's that??...
An old woman, you say? An old woman who preys on young....what??
She is toothless??
Ohhh...noooooooo...only hyenas do that....or jackals...

They don't charge you...and they usually buy...
What is there not to like??? I notice that your total reference to them was sexual and so I commented on that premise.
Maybe the STDS...I hear that when they get really long in the tooth and are still hunting, they are known to eat carrion.

Ah... fantasies are running high, aren't they???

I never knew of this other meaning for a cougar either. Stupid huh? I am too practical for the overt romantic antics... I like to run a hormonal check for sure, and that is it, why read too much into it? Life is great and it is all not only about being like a walking wannabe D.

I feel myself like a normal human being with a normal sex drive, is there any problem to talk directly about sex without beating too much around the bushes? I like to play... don't get me wrong!

Now, in the meaning of a human cougar, nope, I have no need to chase younger guys for some sexing or mechanical quickie... they might even come voluntarily to me, but I very well know myself and will turn down the aged past +/- 5 years and much depending on their level of maturity for sex. Old wines really taste better, unless you like to play preacher or teacher or whatever the game you're into. I just hate teaching, guiding or manipulating. I like instead a share and exchange in discovery channel...

I am not a carnivore like cougars either. I would leave the carcass for the vultures... maybe I would even poison it and watch who comes to a wild feast... got the picture?

Before you think too much into things again… No, I am not suggesting here that I am a voyeur, on the contrary, I like to have full hands on in the game of tango for two. I do not swing, am straight, and monogamous. It is a good a thing to start and work with effectively.

After all said, don’t play like I never told ya…

From Cougar Haven

My position regarding private ownership is simply that I don't have a position. It is not my place to sit in judgment of others. I am neither a sanctioning body nor a regulating agency. I simply provide homes for unwanted big cats. But since a great many of the cats living at Cougar Haven have come from so-called private ownership, I feel that it is right and proper to let you know what you are getting into before you possibly cost an innocent cat her life.

Anyone who wants to possess a big cat should do so only with the knowledge of how to do it, and with the commitment to care for it properly for the duration of its natural life.

Such specialized knowledge can only come from experience. Big cats are dangerous. They can kill you. There is much to know about big cat behavior in general, and the species in particular, before you even entertain the thought of ownership.

This knowledge cannot be obtained in the time it takes for a cub to become dangerous. It would be akin to learning to skydive having never seen a parachute until you jumped, and even more dangerous.

Responsibility to care for the cat for the duration of its life can only come from having a location where you will not have to move, the ability to get the proper diet and sex toys, an enclosure that is safe and large enough, and the financial ability to provide all this.

P.S. Please don't ask me where you can purchase one.
