| ________________________________________________________________________ Posted: 7/28/2009 1:12:27 PM | Just because some older women like younger men, doesn't mean they are going to have sex with them.. Any younger guy that feels that way is a moron!
I value friendship first with anyone I meet, and I take it from there, if we are compatible, I get to know the person and see if we have any kind of a future together..!
I like quality people, not whoremongers..!
Meaning I deserve to be treated with respect, and if the person doesn't show me respect they will not be in my life for long..!
That goes for any woman or man whoever they meet in their lives..!1

Cougars are a cat that is also called a mountain lion and primarily it lives is the mountains in the west but they have been spotted in the rural parts all across Canada and the U.S. I thought this was a dating site. | What do you think about cougars? Posted: 7/31/2009 3:39:28 PM | | Hey, I guess you would say I'm a cougar> I am 56 and prefer a man my age, but most of them in my area can't keep up with them (seriously). I am active and like to get out and prefer men around 10-15 years younger.

why is this such an issue .. age is a number... To me, this sounds kind of unrealistic. Age IS a number and age IS a reality and age IS an attitude. There aren't many of us that would date a 10 year-old or a 90 year-old. There are many people -- of either sex -- who act much younger than their chronological age and those who act much older.
And, as a man of nearly 60 years of age, I can tell you that there are mighty few 30-something women that would even get a second thought from me. If a woman doesn't know the Beatles, Father Knows Best, or flying before 9-11, it's not likely we'll have much in common.
Me thinks those young males who are attracted to what a "cougar" has haven't grown enough to understand that what attracts them is confidence, experience, and the knowledge to use both.

I don't think there is a "cougar" lifestyle...it's a derogatory term used by immature guys and women who don't realize just how derogatory it is.
There are younger women/older men, older women/younger men and people of similar ages. That's how it should be...whatever works for the couple.
If a younger dude wants to date or sleep with an older woman...there's nothing new in that...it's been a "rite of passage" I'm sure, dating way back. The media just placed a condescending label on it.
And for message 426, BigDaddyVI...I don't know if I've read a more rude, crude, lewd, low comment...ugh.

| What do you think about cougars? Posted: 8/2/2009 6:20:27 AM | | Why is it a compliment to be called a cougar? Someone needs to explain it, because I'm offended when twenty-somethings approach me and they are very BOLD. | |

Why is it a compliment to be called a cougar? I don't think it was ever meant as a compliment. Goldigger, sugar daddy, cougar, etc., isn't complimentary. But, those who fit into those categories need to place some sort of positive spin on the title.
A person can choose to date who they want. I think it becomes most degrading when they demean/degrade others as a means to justify their behaviour and distract them from the real issue(s). For example, I know of one cougar in particular who claims men her age can't keep up. The truth be told, she suffers from depression. In order to combat her depression she keeps herself busy and distracted. Thus, taking her pills every day and dating young guys gives her that opportunity to fight her depression.
She's hiding the issue rather than coping eith it.... I've known her for ten years-plus. She is an emotional wreck.
It's not that all cougars are this way. It really comes down to the psychological affect it will bring years down the road. I've always stated to many, including my daughters, "If you don't respect yourself you have no right to insist others treat you with respect."
Not only cougars, but others who think being sexually active with many partners is something to aspire to, isn't really thinking about their own emotional well-being for the long term.

| What do you think about cougars? Posted: 8/3/2009 6:26:30 PM | Actually, it is a coined term by Linda Franklin, the real Cougar woman. Check out the website. Cougars are classy 40+ age women who have their age together and younger men are attracted to them for that and their self confidence (plus they are MORE expereienced) | |
