East Side Eddie, the screaming you're hearing is about guys looking for Barbie, I think, and not being realistic. This guy is no Arnold Swetzenegger(sp?)...just a good looking..maybe average looking to some, which is why it surprised me. I see some real hunks....even shirtless ones, and while they look hot, no doubt...they don't have the effect on me that this one does. I don't think anyone who KNOWS me...even off line....would EVER call me shallow, as looks honestly are pretty near the bottom of my criteria list. I have been criticized, (in real life), BECAUSE I DON'T put much emphasis on looks, if you can believe that. (That's probably why THIS incident took me off guard.)
I'm on break at work, so I'll respond to the rest of you later....

And how can you pick them out from their photo? How do you know without exchanging emails and talking some, and even then until you get out somewhere and the next thing you know his hands are reaching for the hooks on the back of your bra?
And from what we've seen, how do you know it's even his picture?
About a year ago, someone created a profile for a guy named Ric, and they used a photo of Ric Romero, some news guy from LA or something out there. That photo is a tongue in cheek joke over on fark.com and has been for quite a while. Ric Romero is the pretty boy never a hair out of place travels with a makeup crew kind of guy. And that profile had 75 emails the first 3 days. It was done as an experiment, and it spoke loudly.
So please don't tell me the eye candy thing is all a man's game, ok?
Man, I get tired of sexism toward men.....
Maybe someone can explain why women post Glamour Shots? Better still, why they have them taken in the first place? Nothing better to do with $65 than have a makeup man look for one hour like you will never look again? And then compound the felony by posting that photo as if you look that way all the time? What is the reason for that? Possibly to attract more men? Hmmmm??? | |

No two people have the same tastes in what attracts them. Beauty or attraction is in the eye of the beholder. And this applies to both sexes...

daisie, yeah, things are getting over-analyzed, but it wasn't my intention....I don't usually start threads, so let's call this a 'learning experience', shall we? I'm not sure I WANT to spoil the fantasy...this was just kind of 'out of character' for me, so I wondered if it happened to anyone else. Seems like some people are 'matchmakers', like I haven't seen since my younger days....kinda cute, really.

bike man, he isn't always up there...that's why I didn't know if he was new or not. Then yesterday, I had to hunt him down by doing a search of my area. He doesn't come up in my matches, either...(I thought it was just by age and location according to another thread, but the interests must come into play, too, and like I said before, that's where we differ). Now he is in my favorites....usually I explain to people why I put them in my favorites if it is someone I never wrote to, but what would I say in this case? He's not in the forums...so I just did it with no explanation...why should I contact him if there is nothing in common, nor am I in his area....yet? Like, " Hi! You happen to live in Ohio, where I'm going to be moving.....eventually. Want to talk?" Yeah, riiiiight.
Oh, and as for

neither of them lives anywhere near me , so it would be pointless , and I don't think we have much in common but their profiles definitely made me laugh and their pictures , well they are just cute guys - not supermodels or anything , but cute , funny guys!

My hands don't reach for the back of my bra that easily...whether the meeting is on line OR person to person...please don't misjudge me....
We DON'T know if it is his picture...or if it even LOOKS like him if it is. Heck who cares? Who needs to meet him anyway??....maybe I'll just copy his picture onto my hard drive, print it, and just drool at my own convenience....no need to even get anyone else involved. Is that better? Like I said, though...this is no 'pretty boy'....looks like what I'd expect to see a nice looking man in his 50's to look like.

The point is that pictures are only pictures, and some bad books have nice covers.
Picking someone out from their photo.. again you read the words you wanted to read out of context.
I was talking about the bad guys vs the good guys, asking how can you pick you the players by their photos.
I may offer you the same advice. Read the post before responding. I DID read yours, which prompted the counterpoint of why men are spit on if we only care about looks and only contact the cupie dolls.

That guy is hot!” only to have the person with me say, “EEEWWWWWW! No Way!” Honestly! Like the guy this thread is about….if I were to post his profile pic up here, (if we were allowed, even), I think some people would say, “Yeah, niiiiice”….some would say, “Eh, he’s okay” and maybe a few would even say, “No Way” There is just as much chance that he would be repulsed by me, as the other way around.

Okay, some of you asked to be updated, so here goes.....I put him in my favorites this morning.
When I got home from work, and went to my email...OMG, there was an email from HIM. All it said that he hoped I would be moving close to him. A couple of emails later, I have a feeling that the distance is more than he wants to deal with.
That's okay, though, because as I said early on, I already have a couple of guys I plan to meet, and one could be 'the one'...if not...it's back to the 'drawing board'. No desperation here....no rush. It's not like I haven't had my share of love in my life.
I want to thank all of you great people out there on POF. It's unbelievable how many people will try to get a match going by giving so much encouragement...I was truly amazed, and I hope someday I can pass it along and give encouragement to someone else where it is needed.
So this thread is actually 'closed' now, and I'm just hoping he doesn't figure out this is about him.....
