3 so far...with a few more in the works...

upper back, left side...something abstract done in black art that my sis designed

inside left ankle...kanji - live now

inside right ankle...2 cherry blossoms with five falling petals...representing my 5 years in Japan

I'm adding to the Japanese one with some dragonflies and wind...and still waiting on that one maple leaf that will make me go "yup thats the one"...I've also got an astrological sign that I've designed that I'm figuring out where to put.

one only - at the top of my back - says Angels & Demons - and represents the duel nature of all things and all people - everyone has both good and bad in them, the only question is - where is the balance

I have a red maple leaf with a symbol inside of it that represents my name. Underneath are the words "I AM" with an arrow going through it. Its supposed to mean 'I AM ME, I AM SAGGITARIUS AND I AM CANADIAN" which are three 3 things I use to identify myself. Its high up on the outside of my right thigh, so you can only see it if I want you to see it. Almost all of my shorts cover it.

Depending on how someone would like to count them, I have 4.

My right ankle has a Chinese dragon ... later I had my Chinese name written below it (one, or two, you decide), my left ankle has an English dragon, my left arm has "trinity" ..

Planning on a few more - arm-bands around my forearms and another dragon that will end up being huge ... with a couple of "fill tattoos" around the giant dragon that will match the look.

Planning on getting 3 more. A gecko wrapping aroung my left ankle , a black widow spider on my inner right thigh as well as a spider web covering my unmentionable...should be cool!!!!

I have flaming cherries on my right inner hip that I got when I was 18, at least 2 more in the works. I have designed a maple leaf and tribal piece for across my shoulder blades and also a pink and blue interlocking ring set over my heart for my son and daughter. I will probably end up with 1 or 2 more after that too, just havent decided what yet!!

I have 2 so far..... will pro'lly end up getting more over the course of my life tho.

First one is a red maple leaf (no black outline). Got it cause I'm proud of my heritage and country. Very patriotic gurl over here!

Second one is self-designed, so far I haven't gotten it colored in. Its a flower with 6 petals (The center of the flower is symbolic of me, petals are the things that are closest to my heart), and has these 2 wavy curly things that go out and up from the flower on each side (the stuff that never really matters in life) I guess its kinda hard to visualize tho.

Thinkin about getting my astrological symbol somewhere too, mebe on my lower side towards the back............

I have 9 but you can only see 8 (1 is a cover up) ranging from cartoon characters (which will get covered up at some time) to my Scottish Clan Crest, some celtic work, the "flag" of course, a design a child did for me (gifted 10 year old artist, kid was awesome) among others. coming up, some very tastful skull work and maybe a 3-D Celtic cross if I can find the right person. If you know someone who is an amazing tattoo artist I would love to see their work, let me know.

I highly recommend Bear from Bear's Skin Art. I've had both mine done by him.

I obviously have a ra
ther large dragon/sun tattoo on my back as well as having a tribal dragon on my left arm I am in the process of getting the art finalized for a dragon themed half sleeve for my right arm then after that will likely get something that fits thematically on my left side.

Two, both coverups of old work.

Older now, and hopefully somewhat wiser, I had the cover ups done at Ink Machine by Danny who is amazing and I took my time deciding what I wanted this time.

My right calf is Autumn from Brian Frouds 25th Anniversary edition of Faeries it is a really intricate piece. I researched a lot of artists before I chose Danny to do it for me. I chose Autumm becaue she represents for me, transformation, and the coming out of a cocoon, having wings and learning to fly. I sat for 7 hours to have her done, and she was worth every minute.

My Second toe on my right foot has a rose. I originally had a toe ring tattooed there after an evening of debauchery with some homemade swish and Mendhi turned into lets make it permanent(ok another story there), Danny was able to turn into into a really nice looking rose. Had this done since I love toe rings, but find them uncomfortable to wear.

My next tattoo I'm planning will be another in the style of Froud, representing my two little ones. I'm hoping to do a combination of a Willow Fairy being protected by a Dragon, my daughter being the fairy and my son the Dragon.

Even though I own all my own equipment - I just have the one on my ankle that I did - its the crow mask crying with a bit of tribal - and a rose thats vines are entwined with the tribal.

My next ones will be (cant do them myselves cause they are on my back)

My kitty's portriat

My mom and dads wedding portrait within a claddagh ring - with the date of their marriage in celtic lettering...

And freddie mercury - not the moustach stage - but when Queen was at their height - and he had long hair. His eyes are so piercing - just have to find an aritst that is really good at capturing that.

The problem with tats - especially for women - is finding a good place to place them. With the inevitable 'sagging' that happens with age - you don't want to get a tattoo lets say of a winged horse, then having it in 20 years looking like a deformed elephant with two chickens on its back!

Speaking of tats...

Does anyone know a good place in or near Red Deer to get mine fixed up? It desperately needs to be touched up and I would like a few alterations done....

The best way to describe it would be a cat scratching you repeatedly in the same spot. It also depends on where on your body it's getting done and waht your tolerance to pain is. Somewhere fleshier is usually less painful.

if you are in Edmonton - Bears is always the best way to go. He has been in business for over 20 years, has some of the best artists working for him - and the place is the cleanest I have ever seen.

I have a maple leaf about 2.5 inches wide, right in the center of my back between my shoulder blades. It's a simple maple leaf, identical to the one on the Canadian flag. I love my tattoo, and have not once regretted getting it. I've had it for about six years now...

I have 4 ... 1st one was when I was 19 ...
1) small rose on upper right arm
2) bird on upper left back
3) heart on a vine, left hand (gets lots of compliments)
4) ghecco on right outer calf

I love tattoos ... none of mine are really a symbol of
anything ... I just like them.

for those of us intrested in tattoos etc - there is a big show coming up in Calgary - the Calgary Tattoo & Arts Festival - in September I think, with a large number of international artists attending - looks like it will be fantastic. Included in the line up is Kat Von D from the tv show Miami Ink, and she does some awsome portrait work - so queenrhiannon - if your still thinking of getting Freddie done - you should take a look at her work.

For the rest of us - could this be a POF party / outing

who knows

I looked at getting some work done by Kat Von D and the work starts at 500 USD to start, I don't want a portrait tho so no go for me but go to her website and you can contact her there and book a spot. She is here Sept. 2-4.

Shortstuff24, a word of advice to you is that you put A LOT of thought into your tattoo before you get it. I had mine done at Ritualistics, but I also heard taht Bears Skin Art is really good...

Yes of course it hurts; especially over the spine. I was tolerating the pain just fine, until she started going over my spine and suddenly I broke out into a sweat, my mouth started watering, and I had to take a break before I got sick... It was weird, my mind was accepting it, but my body was definitely rejecting it.

So I endured the pain and now I have a beautiful tattoo!!

I have one on my left calf - 2 geckos curled around each other in the yin/yang symbol (as a reminder that there are 2 sides to every story and light & dark in every one of us).

I'm getting inked again in 6 days at Bear's... this time it's a stylized Celtic sun/protection rune that's going between my shoulder blades. I wanted that as a reminder that there's a greater power "watching my back" so to speak. It's important to me because there are times in my job where no matter what you do, the balance between life & death is up to the powers that be.

I looked at getting my kids initials worked into it somehow, but most artists these days won't tattoo initials of someone unless it's a memorial tattoo.

I didnt find my spine hurt at all... i found up my sides was brutal though...I know you can buy a product called Emla (a topical anesthetic) and put it over the area... it helps take the edge off for sure...still its a bizzar feeling but Emla helps with super sensitive areas.

(one note...if you use emla ya have to put in on 30 mins to an hour before hand...wrap the area in saran wrap and then get your work done...it can be bought at most drug stores...ask the pharmacist)
