Depends on who's observing, don't you think? Probably concerned, settled friends or family. You know you can act your age, be responsible for bills etc and still have a lot of fun. Throwing caution to the wind is great, when you have all your ducks in order. Otherwise, those little critters might come back and bite you.. :)

Who the heck knows?..................

When I was growing up,I always wanted to do the adult things,
And I haven't stopped since! So,I'm assuming I act my age,(whatever that is)
I'm just hoping that I don't look it!............

What's wrong with looking our age? This is ridiculous really! I am just happy to be here. You can only battle the fountain of youth for so long... and then just drink from from it again, but not so greedily :)

I suppose you've just not been exposed to real women who "know" for a fact that men get better the older they are. I'm constantly being told to act my age, and when that happens I usually kick 'em in the shins and zoom away on my motorcycle.
Rather than acting our ages, we should just be ourselves...

People who say that are either boring and just poop to me. Come on I've seen 40 to 50 year olds party hard, I worked at a restaurant so yeah forget the age thing let loose and just have a good time. In fact I'm going to a party this Saturday like 30 to 40 year olds drinking and getting crazy. Ladies hubby plays in a band metal so you know it's gonna be crazy.

Act your age! I've been told that too, and I did something about it. I changed my age by dropping 10 years off it, so now I am 62. I told my family and friends that if they aren't satisfied I can drop another 10 years.
I guess I am differatn from most men that have been around as long as I have, in that I simply have no interest in getting old. I work every day and ride my motorcycle when the pavement is dry. In the evenings I work on computers or stydy electronics. My wife died a while back so I now have a girlfriend that I spend a couple of nights a week with, and yes, I still have sex. I don't have the stamana I had 40 years ago, but I'm a long ways from dead. Hang in there and do what makes YOU happy!!!

I always act my age!!!!

There are also other times I act my age!!

Now if you put those two together, that is an example of partying so hard that you have to come home and sleep!!

It means several things . It means
- Do as I say
- Grovel at my feet
- Don't think for yourself
- Don't think about anybody but me
- In fact don't think at all.

First they want you to "act your age", then they post on the forums that men have no "spontanaity" or "get up and go". Gee...I wonder why...??

To me, it means maturity. It doesn't mean that you don't still have fun or do silly things or laugh and joke.........it means that you have your ducks in a row as the poster said a few posts back.

It means that you have the full range of choice in how to act.........you can act mature when life requires that and you can also act silly and have fun without having to make life be silly and fun ALL the time............

It's hard to put into words...........I was married to a man who always was trying to keep living his childhood. He was a professional but he never liked being a grown up. Then later in life, I went with a man who had a great sense of humor and loved to have fun but he actually liked being a grown up and didn't need to keep trying to recapture his childhood .............. There was a definate difference there but it's hard to put it into words. The first one wanted to be a teenager again and forever. The second one liked himself better as a young adult in his 20's or so............It's hard to explain it but boy, what a difference there was in the two!

My daughter tells me that all the time. Since she already acts MY age I dont have to.

I never really knew what that meant, and I choose not to find out. I am not a conformist.

I think that's part of it.............not being a conformist. It's like there are some people who are in power struggles with authority or norms all their lives.......non conformists. And then there are people who went through rebellions and stuff like that but outgrow that struggle and have no problem seeing themselves as conformists. Even if they are different, they don't need to have being a non conformist as part of their identity........
And I don't mean that in a negative way...........It's just that some people have a strong need to identify with being a non conformist.............and that usually bugs people into saying things like "Act your age."

It's not a power struggle its just me being who I am. And I was never in a power struggle with authority for sure. I just am who I am not what others would wish me to be.

For me it means ride a bike, walking and jogs, swiming, sailing, writing, smiling, offering a chair to a pregnant woman, saying hello to strangers. Laughing at myself.

What frightens me are the ones that can't walk to the store any more. I don't care if the calendar says that their are my age. I don't want to be that way.

I tried being a grown up, and didn't like it.

Boo!

Second life..I can't walk to the store anymore. That's one very steep mile down (not..too..too bad going down the hill..with a few sit-a-spells along the way..also..I could lay down and just well..roll to the bottom) but..what's worse is that very steep mile "up" that hill that makes it an "Oh H*ll No!" moment for me. (Not possible to lay sown and just..roll up it.)

Fitting people into a category is stereotyping. Having someone tell/scream..grow up because you don't fit in there category is wrong..and just stereotypical.

Having stated that..I have used the phrase "grow up" to someone that is using inappropriate behavior. There is a time and place for frivolity and high-jinks..and everyplace..is not always the correct place. JMO

Given that I have NO fricking idea what someone my age is supposed to act like, I rather think I am doing just fine! I think I'd laugh if someone told me to act my age!

But I DO have a funny story to relate: a few weeks ago my six year old grandson was in my car and I was, er, a little unhappy with another driver. He piped up from the backseat: "Noni, that is NOT appropriate behaviour" Thankfully I didn't wreck the car when I burst out laughing...

"Anyway, just frustrated and trying to figure out all this relationship crap…and figureing out why women think I am not acting my age and are not particularly interested in trying me out for a road test... Help...."

Women aren't cars and probably don't think of men as cars, most of them don't want to be road tested or take someone for a road test. Could it be that it may not be your age and what you like so much as it is how you express yourself that is the source of your frustration? I surely hope for your sake they don't start kicking things as they might do to a tire. That could result in a lot of pain!!!!

I act my age and since I'm perfect so anyone my age that doesn't act like me is just wrong!!!!!!!!
