"You can call yourself an optimist, but you are not realistic", she said pessimistically...

> "Only the ones who are married to men of their level are happy."
You just suggested that nobody is an individual and that 100% of a group will behave a certain way.

> "When an old poor man marries a young and pretty woman who is ambitions and kind of materialistic that marriage will not last. As soon as she gets on her feet they are history."
And you just did it again.

Things aren't black and white. You can't make sweeping generalizations about large groups of people and expect them to be accurate.

too funny...I did a search...check out this ad on craigs list...http://www.craigslist.org/about/best/nyc/29243897.html

then there's this site...this has so got to be a joke...http://www.mailorderhusbands.net/order/

I am 17, but will be turning 18 in September. I figure by the time we get to know each other I will be legal tender and we can marry. My parents are kicking me out after December and I'd like to meet a woman with a lot of money so we can have fun.

I am attracted to a girl with a job and a car. preferably a Camarro. I like to meet big american girl.

I can chop lots of wood and can even climb a greased pole. I keep in shape by chasing chickens around my back yard. I keep my self clean and take baths weekly. .

I prefer a woman that has insurance and a car would be great as I need to make the occassional trip to Mexico to pick up 'souvenirs.'.

you gotta check out the compatibility test & success story...

Kind of. I've been to the Dominican Republic a few times and have seen much older women (tourists) with much younger guys (locals) - playing on the beach, dating at a discoteque AND going home together on the plane. It is a way out of poverty, same as mail order brides.

I, myself, was approached by young men, hoping to come home to Canada with me. I think the lure of getting out of the cycle of poverty is very powerful.

I have a friend that works with a guy that has a mail order Russian bride of 10 years. She doesn't speak English, he doesn't speak Russian, but they came up with their own little language together that no one else but them speaks.

Actually, there are hundreds of men in various African countries and on multiple websites begging and pleading for American, Cnadian and European women to marry them and bring them over, and promising us endless nights of romance and moonlight if we will only do that small thing for them - Immigration. Um....

Gee the mail order husband thing might be a good thing for western Canada to try out...I know I for one would order a nice big Albertan or British Colombian man (now I know that not all Albertan or BC man are big bit Ive seen enough over 6 footer that look like they could do a fine job in hockey, steer wrestling or linebacking to know that AB and BC are hiding a goood fair share of em,eh!!!!)

Or Scotland; that would be another country that might want to think about starting a program.

*insert wicked grin here

In all seriousness though; I did see a news bit a while back on Wales; apparently there is a lack of young (20's-40's) women staying in the more rural farming areas of Wales;and the poor, lonely dairy farmers cant find wives and dont really have time (gotta be home by 4 pm for chores) to go to the cities and look for women; so they put their faces and profiles on milk cartons! The project was called "Fancy a Farmer" ....wonder how it turned out??? some of these guys werent too bad (course I kinda like farmers...and ranchers...and builders, loggers, hunters,mounties,soldiers,firemen........*grin*)

Nope, but if you find one....let me know...if the online dating thing doesn't work...that may be the next step for me...mail order....well, if the price is right anyway..... .

What would you consider a good price for a hubby?

Yeah, me too! If you find out, let us know. Hate to see a lonely farmer resort to "Daisy, the Heifer" as a life partner! Though, who knows? It could be a match made in heaven.....at least she knows what he goes through every day AND she gets her 'teats' touched by him on a regular basis! How hot is that?
Speaking of 'hot', maybe the firemen could put up a poster on the outside of their stations....saying "Available. Ring the alarm and check within."

I do not why some women seem bitter about guys writing to a women and meeting her overseas and bring her back?

Whats the problem ? Some women here are bitter and talk about freedom and respect that guys here do not give them. I would have voted for Connie Rice if she was a candidate, even my dad would of and he is a very masculine tough guy . My dad got a "mail order bride " through a catalog , she is my mom had 8 kids , he in turmn helped go through school and wanted her to know alot more than she did when he met her.
40 years later they are still married I have never seen them fight ever not even my other brothers and sisters , , they discuss things but never fight, smile at the end. She actually is his partner in decisions.

I asked my dad why he chose my mom out of a catalog and not the american girls he knew, he said they were tough cookies, wanted alot more than he could handle, they thought that they were worth a man's sacrifice and would not be nurturing on the excuse of women's rights.

I had livin roomates too many of them here I had to clean and cook becuase they refused and I did not charge them rent it was too much to ask for them they felt I was being a weiner, I am actually very mellow and nurturing towards women, I do alot and maybe too much for them they claim I am too nice so they do not see me as boyfriend or husband material. I have had some foreign women , ( mexico ) staying as roomies and they did everything I did, cook clean , took care of me when I needed them ( not sexually) , american women would just tell me to suck it up , not all are like that but they seem more like guys with women body parts than women.

Women do not need a mailorder husband they can get sex just by the asking and meet men anywhere if they set themselves to it, I am not bad looking just too damn nice so I get in the frend box alot . I have been on this site for years and tried very hard and well to meet women here, never but never met one here, i bet women get mails I have not gotten one in a year.

Give me a mail order bride anyday , I know their are not all like that here but mean, angry and selfish seem to be the norm and define it as female independence.

And if a guy wants a mailorder bride why does he have to choose an old and ugly one if he can choose what he wants ? They are not going to an old car lot to get the worst there ? And the women in the catalogs are not all desperate some have careers, I work with thousands of military and even youg 20 year old guys tell me they prefer the foreign women better for their better family and cultural values and the way they make them feel good and do not feel belittled as a guy in comparasion to wht they have met. I work with officers and higher enlisted who have been married to their foriegn brids for more than ten years after divorcing their women from here, some of these women are doctors and have bussinesses and still satisfy a guy , make them feel important. Guys do not have much to hope for to get in return in a relationship here anymore just work and listen to the yelling and screeching. I tried so hard to get an ameircan woman, yes they want perfection , I am short they want them tall no matter what, educated or more educated than they of equal or more economic power, we have to compete, I was laughed at by a woman a month ago at a party because I was kind of hitting on her , she belittled me becuase I did not have a doctorates like she did,
she said she did not date losers.

Give me a good wman that does not do that to me , in this site there are alot of them and they say they are nice.

sd dude: yeah, you said it man. nice to see this argument being hashed out, sounds like you really know what you're talking about too, with your family and overseas experience. it really does come down to mutual respect and values that were (or weren't) instilled by the family. i rebelled against my strict upbringing as a teen, but i thank my lucky stars today. i'm not pretentious or shallow and i'll never be spoiled. more importantly, i know these things about myself, and i could never tolerate a partner who exhibits those traits. there are lots of guys out there who would do just about anything for the right woman, but so many american women are trying to have their cake and eat it too, they just don't see it. i agree, mean, angry and selfish seems to be the norm. last summer i had a good (i thought) female friend go off on me with her knee-jerk-feminist rant about how men and their testosterone have completely ruined the world and how i'm racist and sexist even if i don't know it. (sexiEst, maybe! ) i see now i was always just a tool to her, too naive to see what's really going on. i guess that opened my eyes to how a lot of younger women "think" these days. i'm not perfect, and neither is my girlfriend, but she is the best woman i have ever known, and she tells me i treat her better than any previous partner has. i don't do anything outrageous, i just respect her.

There are, just in US, around 200 websites specifically focused in international matching marriage.

Regardless the scope as ultimate goal, I would consider PoF to be one of them... provided the possibility to be stated or option to define the intention of the relationship through profiles and posting, willingness for relocation for that purpose and the international membership of their participants.

Luckily for us, the stigma associated to the label or the hypocrital double standard is not recognized because the 'first' western/european/australian majority population and the green/blue card 'issues' are discarded among them.

I know a woman who was paid by an Indian guy to marry him so he could get U.S. citizenship. It was a "business arrangement." (It's also illegal, by the way.)
I also read an article about a group of American men who traveled to Russia to find wives through a marriage brokerage agency. These men weren't interested in American women, because they felt they were too "independent," "opinionated" and "selfish." Interestingly, all of these men were middle-aged, and the women very, very young--late teens to early 20s, and didn't have jobs or careers. There were a few women who were older--late 20s to early 30s who did have careers, one was a rocket scientist!-- whom these men would not give the time of day. (Feel free to read between the lines, folks.) The newspaper that ran this article did a followup a year later. Surprise! Every one of these marraiges went bust, mostly because the men were heavy drinkers and abusive!

Hmm, a new profile idea...

<----- For sale or lease, with option to keep :)

Low mileage, minimal baggage, very intelligent, well read, housebroken, in shape, cuddle bear, great kisser, actually listens, *loyal, affectionate, adorable and very modest (really, just ask me) can fix almost anything AND doesn't need viagra! *Also able to fend off your GF's if they try to steal me from you...

Comes with; sm. Yacht (you must live near the Atlantic ocean (Pacific is optional if you're an exceptional match) since the crane to get it out of the water and the 18 wheeler to transport it cost a fortune to move it around) and a Classic Kawasaki motorcycle that even the Harley boys comment on.

Test drives/cruises for serious inquires only!

There was even a WWII era movie about that with Cary Grant, "I Was a Male War Bride" is the title, very funny and worth renting if you can find it.

its not as easy as how you make it seem for them to go back on the plane with them...they cant just go over with them like that..there is a strict process they have to go through to get a visa and all..so i dont think that a lot of them just go back on the plane with them right away..usually they have to get married or apply for a fiance visa or something and thats a long complicated process
