With everything in life you have to accept the consequences of your actions. Since the disabled are limited in their ability to launch an effective retaliation , it seems like a pretty safe way to vent anger and build up your ego. Man, that vert guy is hot.

Incredible that this is a subject that even needs to be discussed. I think laughing at anyones misfortune is in bad taste, and shows not only lack of character, but lack of class.

Comedy is tragedy that happens to other people.

Me getting hit in the nards with a golf ball = not funny. Not even close.

One of my friends getting hit in the nards with a golf ball = hilarious. X2 if ambulance attends.

Me seeing one of my friends hit in the nards by a golf ball driven by a handicapped person = probably the happiest moment of my life.

some of the best laughs I had in a while , reading this thread , specially the guy in the wheelchair splashing the tourettes guy ...... couldnt imagine the profanity coming out after that .
OT - Laughing at something that happened to someone that is handicapped ,that doesnt involve their handicap , in the situations listed above , is fine . Just because a person is in a wheelchair, for example , doesnt mean they lost their sense of humour ( or at least I hope not ). So , if a bird shit on my head , it would be funny , but if it shit on someone thats handicapped it wouldnt be ? thats discrimination ! lol

Yes i have some disabled and handicapped friends .None of whom have lost their sense of humour, and are usually the first ,with the one liners when misfortune begets another...
I hope we are all grown up and intelligent enough to know the difference between insulting and laughing , in the right situations , no one seriously can mock the afflicted as most of us knows someoneor has a relative with a disablity or handicap..A

I think that I would prefer to think of it as laughing 'with' and not at.....handicapped or not.

I agree that to treat anyone differently than another is discrimination.

I'm handicapable. Nah, handicap peoplez get cool parking. Someone tear my legs off. I sit here all day and don't need them anyway. The thing dangling in the middle between them isn't a leg btw............................ It's a turd.

Funny, Mr. Above person. I have that saying on my profile.

When I was young some retarded dude busted his ass in the street he was crossing (it was at a campus. Yup I went to college a few days) and I laughed. Unfortunately the girl I liked at the time was there and felt sorry for him instead. Laughing at retarded people that fall in the street with their books flying everywhere and almost get hit by cars isn't considered funny for most. I will never do it again...... In front of girls I want to boink atleast.

in a situation where someone gets splashed by a passing car driving through a puddle, you'd be laughing at the situation, not at the victim (able bodied or not)
Laughing at someone BECAUSE of a disability is just plain ignorant and hurtful.
When I was walking, after my physio got me out of my wheelchair, some people would blatantly stare at me in confusion, (I gather they were just curious as to why I was so unstable), and it really hurt when kids would point and laugh at me as I was attempting to walk down a flight of stairs. I know they don't know any better, but it still hurt to be pointed and laughed at.

I always got a huge chuckle out of taking my grandmother for drives... See Grandma never likes to travel in a vehicle without wearing her neckbrace as she is a frail old bird and her neck is weak. See the reason I chuckle at the memory is because I would purposely accelerate and then slow down... accelerate..slow down... hit the gas, hit the brakes... I figured she was pretty safe with that neck brace and it was funny as hell to me to see her bobbing back and forth in the passenger seat....

Does this make me sick?

working with handicaped persons threw out my career./life time.... first it is cruel and insensitive to laugh at them ....or anyone for that fact...... but in my Experience most have A awesome sence of humour.. so to laugh with them is 100% cool...

Well...I can say first hand...with my disabilities... Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue... we often experience a lot of coginitve disabilites.... or "fibro-fog".... so I can say without a doubt...I've done a lot of stupid things...mostly because the mind wasn't working....

...they say "A mind is a terrible thing to waste"...however... if it ain't working very well.... watch for me & my stupidity... FYI...usually in the morning...when it takes me 2/3 hours to come to and be alert & coherrent... lol

... a few stupid pet tricks I've been known to do...

* put sandwhich meat in the tea towel drawer...and dont' discover it till you get your next tea towel..."what the hell is that smell?? " lol

* pour a whole mug of milk...and only a litle bit of tea!! oops... hate it when my tea gets cold!! rofl

* if I may take the liberty to post this one...in honour of my father...who also has FM... he made tea one morning...talk about one stiff cup ...stand your spoon up in it for sure!! Rather then pour the hot water into the tea pot...that he had already rinsed out..and put 2 tea bags in... he poured the WHOLE KETTLE OF WATER into the tea cansiter with about 100 bags of tea in it..... Needless to say... our weekend together was quite interesting...considering...I was in charge of the tea from that point on... We couldn't afford to loose any more good tea bags!! lmfao

.... SO...AS LONG AS THE PERSON YOU ARE LAUGHING AT....YOU ARE ACTUALLY "LAUGHING WITH"....ie yourself...& some friends... then .... ALL IS GOOD IN LOVE & WAR... LAUGH YOUR ASSES OFF...ALWAYS MORE FUN TO HAVE SOMEONE TO LAUGH WITH!!

Actually, I'm pissed at the handicaped. Especially the retarded. Everyone I know, or know of are way happier than me. Sux. They have a legit reason to be pissed and they aint. Meanwhile, I have to go to the store and buy smokes for a whole 15 minutes and this pisses me off. Well, today I went to the ABC store too, and it took a lot longer. Hmm. Maybe I'm the disabled one. Come to think of it. Prez Bush is dumber than retards and he's the president. Maybe we have our labels on the wrong cans. C-Note. Ile 2 please. Put down the choco-sticks and correct the labels.

ok,most of you "get it"

some of you are retards.

ironic eh?

anyway........
i was watching south park.there was a "don't laugh at the retarded guy" storyline.

then i saw The Ringer,a movie about a guy that acts handicaped so he can win the special olympics.(also a south park story)

the moral of the storys are treat the handicaped the same as everyone else.they don't need to be protected.
it's ok to laugh at them(no,not for being different) and thier situations.

i have a handicaped buddy that i REALLY rib.he's a 40 year old virgin.but he gets me right back.
my mom asked me what is wrong with him.i couldn't remember.we don't talk about it.i don't care.we're just buddies.

so yeah.......laugh.

you should have seen when a handicaped guy soaked me.(he had a sticker on his window)

he did it on purpose.

it was still pretty funny.

Actually i posed the question about the person getting splashed to my 13 year old on the way home tonight, and her answer:

Its funny and okay to laugh, because you are laughing at the person not the handicap.

Out of the mouth of babes.

Amen.

If you can't laugh at everyone, including yourself, it is a sad world we live in.

Though, now I am purposely cruising the streets near Brads place looking for puddles and when he might walk by....

On a serious note, the disabled are pampered a bit too much. The special parking is a bit much expecially since it is always unused. We waste too many resources on a few people who either were careless and got injured or have a genetic disorder and should never have been born. Pretty soon the entire population will be disabled if we keep rewarding people for being disabled. Not to mention that half the disabled are frauds just looking for free money and free pity.
