I hate Karaoke. It should be banned. Anyone caught hosting a karaoke night should be imprisoned for life AND made to watch back to back episodes of Eastenders.

I love karaoke too - go most weeks with friends. I think I have the perfect karaoke voice, not so bad that people walk out, but not so good that noone else wants to sing after you. I will have a go at most things, some I do better than others. One I do well is 'Have I Told you Lately' Rod Stewart, but when I was in Egypt I sang 'Whenever, Wherever' Shakira, including all the belly dancing in the middle which went down a storm. I love singing 'Underneath his Clothes' by Shakira too. Should I have be born in a different country!!!!???

I've only done Karaoke once at a Japanese bar in Antwerp.
Many Hoegaarde had already been sunk so I chose to do The Shamen's 'Ebeneezer Good' what a mistake. Never again with the Karaoke for me :)

I like karaoke. My friends and I go. Sometimes I will go with a group of them to do a song.
'Oops I did it again.' It is funny if you know me. 'I Want You To Want Me' as well.

My Mate always sings the slow version of DJ sammy's Heaven, but then she's good at it!!!

Always a winner!

Well as a karaoke nut, (and host of the karaoke centric Leeds POF get togethers) I have a core set of regular songs, some of which are

Wonderwall
God Put A Smile On Your Face - Coldplay
Dayfream Believer
Chasing Cars
Wake Me Up When September Ends
Mad World
Yellow
Here Comes the Sun

So each week I may pick a regular song, then something new.

Where karaoke virgins often go wrong is singing a song where they only know a very well known chorus or verse, but then they get to the bridge or a bit of the song they just dont recognise.

What I do is pay 79p for a download of a song I may want to try out, and sing along to see if it is vaguely do able. Then if I am till unsure, I will spend £2 per track and order it from the net - you can get bespoke karaoke CDs off the net with your choice of songs.

So yeah, that's what I do. But then I dont drink so what most people do is say no way jose, then get extremely drunk, then they get up on stage and think they are Donna Summer or Frank Sinatra and you cant get them off the microphone for love or money!

Leeds has some excellent singers, and we have the Wakefield do on Friday with more karaoke too!

I have never, and will never, sing karaoke.

Any of my friends who have had the misfortune to hear me 'singing' will gladly pay money to get me to NOT sing.

Tone deaf ferrets being drowned by blacksmiths in boiling treacle make a prettier sound than me singing !

Hey Tim61, I won a bottle of wine for karaoke at a pub, too!

So what are everyone's regular venues for karaoke?

In Bury, mine are:
Monday- The Grapes
Tuesday- Rising Sun
Thursday- Grapes
Friday- Rising Sun

I'm not karaoking every night, but if I have the urge, at least I know where to go!

I would only do karaoke if the place was full and i could not get to the bar, i would soon empty it and be able to drink at leisure

I used to go to a karaoke bar every week though havent been for a while. Had a great night and good laugh but I dont get up to sing as im hopeless but I enjoy listening to everyone else though.

My friend and I usually get up on the karaoke on holiday (its safe as no-one knows you and your not going to see them again lol) and I hate to say it but we usually sing 500 miles by the Proclaimers Last year I sung it with my daughter in Spain and also an old song by the Beautiful South which we probably killed

I posted earlier about ME singing.... it's not good.

I thought I'd add that listening to a load of other people sing (mostly) really badly, and embarrassing themselves isn't my idea of a fun night out!

Just my personal preference......

SJS, thats what karaoke is all about laffing at the ones that cant sing and going "Bloody Hell, he's/she's good" at the ones who can
