If you look back at how things used to be, people had long term goals for the future. They got to know people before they became 'involved' They became friends first, taking time to see if the person they were interested in was responsible, respectful, honest, honorable, etc.
Modern society has encouraged people to compete for every little thing, which makes many of them insecure. People feel that nothing they do is good enough so they quit trying. The become the b**** (male and female). Sad. Also most people now expect instant gratification. It used to be that you had to get up and change the channel on the TV, for example. Now we can just sit there with the remote and 'surf' - Things have become too easy and we've come to expect it. Alot of people are angry and if they dont get what they want right away, the other person is automatically a b**** or and a**hole. Can you see your grandparents behaving like this?? Is it a wonder our crime rates are up? Is it a wonder there's so many single parents, divorces, and STD's these days? Is it a wonder that our government is the way it is and the economy is f***ed??

I don't agree with the most men.
It is a simple enough question to answer though.
It's the same reasoning behind why women love a*sholes.
People that don't want to commit, or accept social responsibility, go after the people that offers them a sense of "conquest" or achievement without any real danger of having to commit, while also granting the holy grail of validation.
B1tches and a*sholes fulfill these things, and subconsciously they know it won't work out to anything truly meaningful or leading to possible deep, emotional, rejection. | |

I like assertive women. I like women who challenge me. The last thing I want is the pressure of having constantly to be the one in charge.
So, no, I'm not at all attracted to women who really are mean-spirited or selfish, but I'm no more attracted to women who are so overly concerned about making *me* happy that she has no sense of self. People like that usually end up being rather unpleasant to be around because they constantly feel like a victim -- they give soooo much and don't get enough in return, expecting that their partners are just supposed to be able to read their minds and know what they want. | |

Posted: 4/7/2009 3:51:08 AM | Yes, I had a few girlfriends like this a very long time ago when I was young . I happened to have gone to a very good university and you are literally surrounded by beautiful and smart women, many of whom have great personalities. It wasn't until later in my 20s, when I had to deal with dating random women that I realized what I had taken for granted was actually not that easy to come by.
A lot of the women who fall into the category that the original poster describes, in my personal experiences, generally have issues with respecting people in general especially people that come into the closer family circle. This is not very good as you can imagine how such a person may interact with your family, her family, or how she may mistreat her own children...
Why do some men choose women like this? Well, from what I have seen, after I run for the hills, I still stay in touch with some of these women and they generally end up with guys that are inferior to them who they can control. Other dudes are just unfortunate, they got married real young and now are stuck in a marriage with a mortgage and a few children, so they don't see that they have much choice... once you have children and a mortgage, the power dynamics because of the way the legal system is set up are hugely in favor of women, which is why most of the smart and ambitious guys I know wait until their 30s or even 40s to get married.

And the thoughtful, kind, considerate, decent guy is a better long-term play, but the the hot chemistry just isn't there?
As a previous poster said, it's the lust vs love thing. I know that men who I'm instantly attracted to and with whom I feel instant chemistry are usually a disaster for me in the long term. But what a turn-on they are. | |

Sometimes someone who is not very nice and selfish will prefer their own kind.
Many of the most courageous strongest minds in history has been assertive confidant people who have respect for themselves and treat others with respect.
I suppose some people might think being a **** is to do with being assertive as some people think a woman who is not always complying and give a man all his own way must be ****, thats nonesense.
People who are usually horrible to others are messed up and bitter and self centred and immature, that is the opposite of being confidant and being a mature nice person. | |
