I actually met one who was 43 at the time and about 48-49 now. He still lives with his parents. When I fell "in love" with him I thought I'd hit the jackpot cause I had been there myself but no matter what I did to try to make this guy like me (and Im sure he did) just not the way I'd like..I finally realized that it's just that some people are happy the way they are. There are millions of people who are not religious and are happy being celebate and living their lives..why should we pass judgement on them when we choose not to live our lives that way. Staying celebtate is a non-sexual lifestyle some people choose. Anyway after I realized that this guy was happy with how his life was being lead then I was able to let go and move on..unfortunately I haven't been to successful in any meeting decent guys either..

Don't get upset - get laid. Don't they have hookers over there across the pond? Then make up a story about having a gf a few years back. That will make you nice and normal and date-able.

Sorry guy. Did not mean to hurt your feelings. Being normal is no biggie for me - look at my profile. But the majority of women - especially lookers - automatically weed out anyone who does not seem "normal." They can only produce one offspring at a time and are therefore picky about breeding partners. I think I did a thread on Dawkins Selfish Gene book. Check it out.

Honestly, I think it would be great!!! Knowing that I was his 1st, would be "exciting" to me. The thought of helping him "release" in a "normal" physical way would be "awesome" for both of us.
You know, this world is NOT just about SEX, even though that is what SOCIETY tells us.
Sheza, hang in there!!! Don't give up, it will happen!!!

Sheza_68, your not alone dude.
If you happen to find the solution, let me know too lol

On the other hand (and this was not a pun LOL), just not think about it. Be happy with yourself and remember that the more you search for something, the more it tends to be harder to find.

I didn't find that film all that funny really, most scenes just didn't make me laugh.

Also, maybe I'm being a bit odd here, but unless it was apparent as to WHY he might be a 40 year old virgin, I wouldn't actually care!

How do I explain away the "lack of experience"?

Just tell her you were waiting for the right one. There are plenty of people like that. Most of them either aren't here, or are too embarrassed to admit it, that's all.

I think someone without experience is a whole lot better than someone who's been with so many that they can't keep count. If I were to find a woman who said she's only been with one or two men, or she was still a virgin, I would feel pretty good about myself that she chose to be with me.

Just reading some of the posts, I find it ridiculous that somebody has to be shunned or rejected just because they do not fit the social 'norm' - of course it would be unrealistic not to have certain reservations, i.e. thinking about why this person might have ended up a virgin, but to instantly dismiss somebody completely who is still a virgin in later age as having 'something wrong' or being 'unloveable' or 'undateable' is just unbelievably narrow minded and inconsiderate.

It's a double standard in society,good if your a female,bad if your a male.
I know we are supposed to be procreators and all that old fashioned bs but
I for one am proud to be a virgin and yes I have had opportunities to lose it.
Sex with another person just doesn't interest me and from what I hear it
is greatly overrated not to mention dangerous & complicated.

I remember seeing the movie and kind of understood how he felt but anyways I myself am a virgin too,it was something abit of a choice but really its becuase back in my teenage years I didn't have a normal teenage life like many other teenagers did.I really don't want to lost "it" to just some random girl or to some hooker,I do want to remember who I lost it to and know who that girl is.All I can do is date and hope I do lost "it" to the right girl and everything.

I think one thing to bear in mind is that there are probably a lot more older virgins out there than you think. Some of the replies on this thread demonstrate how socially unacceptable it is to admit to being a virgin, particularly for a man.

Obviously some guys remain a virgin because they are freaks, but there are also those who are just late-developers and don't meet the right person. But they aren't going to admit it because of reactions like those here!

Its easy enough to hint at a few past encounters without blatantly lying. I didn't lose it til well into my twenties and I certainly never told anyone and no-one would have guessed as I am a normal sociable guy. My hunch is that there are many more out there.

Good luck & don't give up hope, it will happen!

"Run - there is something fundamentally wrong with that man."

"a 20 year old virgin, thats cute, a 40 year old virgin, not so cute! lol who the hell can that be? that the hell happend? lol"

I cant believe some people.
There's something wrong with us men if we seek out sex alone (loads of women complain about this

There's something wrong with a man who is monogamous and has not been with lots of women in his younger years (many women on the forums say its perfectly normal for young people to be spreading his/her seed so to speak)

There's something wrong with a man who was frequently aware of women complaining about guys always wanting sex, so he abstains from it and that conflicts with his emotions, his hormonal responses and makes him awkward around women-thats what happened to me.

Maybe what happened is that the guy is so fed up with the b*llsh*t he gets from his fellow people about sex and gives up on it.

So what do we have as an acceptable attitude for men?, long term faithfull relationships only?, even during a time when our hormones are screwing with our brains and telling us to mate with as many women as possible? good luck defying that nature, it will screw you up.

Its even more complicated as i go on thinking about it so i'll stop here, there's so many conflicting issues that i've heard from various women that i'm surprised half the population isnt screwed up, damned if you have lots of sex (your a manwhore/jerk who sleeps around), damned if your faithfull and havent been with many women (you need to sleep around more, guys are supposed to brag numbers), damned if your a virgin (there's something wrong with you, women should avoid you like the plague)

What the hell is the right way to be??

I agree with "good for him". I have read a good many of these messages and I would like to say that I can only hope that they were not put on here by Christians – who are born again. I know that Christians aren’t perfect but we do have the Holy Spirit who absolutely gives us self-control so that we don’t react with pure instinct to please ourselves. We were bought with a price – the blood of Jesus who has cleansed us and tells us to go and sin no more. I don’t read about anyone confessing to lying, murder, drunkenness, homosexuality, etc. etc. on these message boards and yet these are all sins as well as intercourse outside of marriage. For the Christian, whether the sin is small or large, we have offended God whom we should ask for forgiveness, and our life should not be lived in repeatedly sinning. This cannot be done without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit Who tells you when you are doing wrong and keeps you from yielding to temptation. To the non-Christian: With all the news about sexually transmitted disease, why would anyone take the chance? If you are living a life of having intercourse with anyone you want to before marriage, why are you offended when after you get married your spouse continues satisfying his or her urge for sex when one of you is on vacation or not available. After marriage, you believe in some type of faithfulness or morality but not before?

Ouch. I couldn't really join a freak show, seeing as I probably wouldn't be as interesting to look at as a guy hammering a nail into his nose.
