| AVERAGE SIZE for females.... Posted: 1/12/2008 9:43:44 AM | I just read that According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the average U.S. woman is 5' 3.7 (162 centimeters) tall and weighs 152 pounds (69 kilograms). This corresponds to a Body Mass Index of 26.3 kilograms/meters², which is slightly less than the average man's.. the average U.S. male stands 5' 9.1 tall and weighs 180 pounds, with a Body Mass Index of 26.5 kg/m². ...
It is all up to one's perception which becomes one's reality ... and we should be where we feel most comfortable ... I am 5' 8" and I do not nor do I want to be wearing a 14 which is what all say is average for a gal shorter than I am. But it all depends where you carry your weight and what brand clothing you purchase... personally I am most comfortable between 145 and 150 and in a 8 to 10 ... and try to stay in that range .. and am doing what all of us do after the holidays .. trying to get rid of those extra lbs.

| AVERAGE SIZE for females.... Posted: 1/13/2008 10:21:18 AM | well for the total us female population, the average woman is about 5'4 and 170lbs. so basically if you at that height and are lighter than that, you could consider yourself "skinny" or "better than average" or whatever you want to call yourself.
however, for me, the definition should rely on so much the weight itself, but rather the body fat percentage and good genetics (unfortunately you have zero control over the latter). two women can be the same height and weight and it is possible for one to have a much better body than the other.
while not everyone can have a great body, everyone can reach their own ideal, but most people won't because they won't bother trying (working out, eating healthy, using common sense, etc.). they wont bother because they think it is a lot of work...and well, it is. put it like this, when you have to take a test in college or highschool, you have to study in order to do well. some people may only need to study for one hour while others may need to study two or three hours for the same test. some people are lucky like that, others have to work hard, some people are neither and some are both.
to end this, keep yourself healthy through some physical activity and try to eat healthy foods in healthy portions as much as possible. you may not have the best body, but at least you will feel a lot healthier and look better than you did before. good luck!

| AVERAGE SIZE for females.... Posted: 1/14/2008 9:34:29 AM | Okay everyone, after reading both of his comments, I say he is pretty close to damn correct... in Navy x was considered way over wt, yet he was 195 -220 and 6 foot 1... but he out ran with bare foot, his skinny officers, out swim all of them and if you can find a small native real native Hawaiian , it would be rare, they could never kick him out, cause he out ran the 5 mile and barefooted and in swinming in the San Diego Bay leave everyone way in the back... for me I ride motorcycle, walk around my area, dance my a$$ off, very flexiable so toching my toes or putting my palms flate on the floor, or spread legs and kiss my knees or lay flate on floor in most position is no problamo, yet I wear a 12/14...I can boogie and out dance you one song after another without sitting down to rest.. but I am tuff don't jiggle, like a body builder, some women ask me if I lift wts , but I don't.. But I am top big no butt lol...so size of top is larger then pants size, outfits that are one size never fit right, pants part never fits... I agree with this guy he knows what he is talking about when it comes to what is average size... | |

| AVERAGE SIZE for females.... Posted: 1/17/2008 3:27:08 PM | You have to realize we only have a ''few'' categories to choose from on here when describing ourselves...
average, a few extra lbs, and BBW.....i'm more than a few overweight, but not considered a BBW...so where does that leave me???? i make it clear to anyone wishing to meet me that I am not skinny, never have been nor will be...and some areas are bigger than others...but i'm happy with my body
most men (espeically white ones) would consider me fat, but frankly I do not care

| AVERAGE SIZE for females.... Posted: 1/25/2008 1:10:47 AM | some people on here just make me laugh.
I don't think average should ever include a weight. at least, it's not always applicable. do you realize muscle weighs more than fat? and also.. this whole wanting women to be "in shape." well, as far as I've gained from reading this, most men (and may women) see women to be considered in shape if they're skinny. I don't know about you, but to me someone who is in shape is someone who is healthy, exercises, and all that good stuff! but regardless, here's what I'm getting at:
muscle weighs more than fat. and normally to be considered in shape, a girl has a healthy, toned body. well, most likely that girl has some muscle on her... quite possibly causing her to weigh more than a girl who is about the same size, but who is not in shape! does this not sound messed up to anyone else? I think people should stop setting a weight limit. this whole "I will not date a girl who weighs more than 130lbs" thing is ridiculous.
hopefully one day people will come to the realization that weight is not a deciding factor of something. it does not decide your label as average or not average, it does not decide your label as skinny or fat, and it certainly does not tell whether you are in shape or not! I hope I'm making sense here....

| AVERAGE SIZE for females.... Posted: 2/8/2008 8:47:46 AM | | I agree with you, it depends on the lady's age, and what the man considers average size, in today's society average size is suppose to be size 12, but I think most men think its more like size 8-10. In my experience. | |

| AVERAGE SIZE for females.... Posted: 2/10/2008 10:49:29 PM | .... the idea of "average" is typically decided by whatever is the majority......and since the majority of americans are overweight/out of shape (according to a BMI or BF measurement)........calling yourself "average" is just another way of saying you need to lose some fat.
applies to both genders btw, i wasnt targeting just women.

I just read that According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the average U.S. woman is 5' 3.7 (162 centimeters) tall and weighs 152 pounds (69 kilograms).
I am 5'9", about 160-162 (I fluctuate between those 2 pounds)
So the AVERAGE woman is about 5 inches shorter than me, and weighs VERY close to my weight (around 8 to 10 pounds closer)...but she's shorter....so....yeah...the AVERAGE woman would be considered overweight then.
Well, they say the average American overweight, so that changes all perspective on what "average" is.

| AVERAGE SIZE for females.... Posted: 2/23/2008 8:58:41 PM | Ive read some comments about the "size" of a women being related to calories and laziness and lack of exercise. My only comment is that when a woman stops producing estrogen the body's method of producing natural estrogen is in fat production. Weight gain is natural for a woman after menopause. A woman with "a few extra pounds" doesn't need to take harmone pills . I think a woman with body fat is more healthy, has less wrinkles, and woman really need to wise up to the fact that men have set the standard for women since the dark ages. Im not against men, bless their little fat clogged arteries, but as long as you feel comfortable with your body, don't allow anyone to put in a box called small, average or large. And for you gentlemen, Im sure you dont mind having your "anatomy" called large! Enjoy each other for whatever attracts you. And yes, I have a few extra pounds just where my genes put them. | |

| AVERAGE SIZE for females.... Posted: 2/27/2008 10:39:26 AM | Just to clear a few things up, no offense intended...
There are "5" ways to categorize your weight in the description menu. Thin, Average, Athletic, A few extra pounds, and Big and tall. It's fairly self explanatory when explaining your weight. I do think there should be one more added description between A few extra pounds and Big and tall. While the average American may be a little over weight there is a description for that. " Most of these statistics are based on health btw, it's called BMI which is your body mass index, As DC mentioned." If a little over weight then its "A few extra pounds," which means you are a little over weight for what's healthy.

Weight gain is natural for a woman after menopause.
I'm not being critical. I'm just trying to understand, but does this mean that by eating less and exercising more the extra weight simply cannot be lost no matter what is done/not done?

After 40 it is really hard to lose weight. add to that menopause well you almost can't run fast enough to keep it off. Then there is medication which can also make you add pounds

| AVERAGE SIZE for females.... Posted: 2/28/2008 7:06:54 PM | geez, size 0-2...what do you use those girls for, javelins???
Average should mean that the gal's tummy not stick out father than her boobs. If the tummy pokes out farther and they are NOT preggers...they are not Average.
If a man's tummy sticks out farther than his chest, he is usually afflicted with Furniture Disease...his Chest has fallen down into his Drawers. This can also be Dunlap's Disease, his tummy done lapped over his belt for more prominent cases. Most men trade in their Six-pack around 35-45 for a hollow leg and a Keg.

| AVERAGE SIZE for females.... Posted: 2/29/2008 12:05:34 PM | | to be honest, I like a few curves on a girl. My type of woman is the "girl next door." Who wants to take a woman's shirt off and look at her rib cage all night. GROSS! I would say to me what I like are girls that are in the 145-200 range, concious about positive eating habits, have their own jobs or source of income, have some direction in life, and are physically fit. She has to be able to hike at least a quarter mile without needing a cigarette break. size is only one indicatior to health. | |
