Posted: 6/13/2006 6:40:54 PM | Amnesty for everyone was offered to all illegal aliens in the early 90s during the Bush I administration. Not many wanted to become US citizens even when they had the chance.
Why?
If one has green card status, the Mexican taxes are a much lower percentage than they'd have to pay on the same wages as US citizens.
If one has NO status and gets paid under the table, one can afford a decent life. If one has to pay taxes out of the same wages, it's no life at all and they may even wind up being homeless as many American citizens are who work yet live in creeks or along railroad tracks or under freeways.
It's about wanting not to pay people enough for them to make a living... | |

Actually Mexico has the resources but the government is very corrupt to the point where the wealthy gets richer and the poorer stay poor. There is a few differences on how MExico treats it's illegals and immigrants vs how we treat them.
1. You can't even get a driver's license in Mexico if you are a immigrant to that country
Up in the USA we give them a license without any proof of residency
2. Down in Mexico, you can't even own a home even if you are a illegal
In the USA, we give them homes so that they can leech off the welfare system.
This could go on and on but understand that we need to stop them coming across the border even if it means blood shed on their part. The Mexican government has been giving the USA lip service for years and now we are going to give the illegals and all thier family social security benefits on top of everything else. It's time the faucet is turned off on them before we end up like Mexico. | |

This includes legal Mexican immigrants. The USA does not give welfare to illegal aliens from Mexico. Stereotype and Fact: Mexicans are not leeches on society but hard working people who take jobs away from Americans. The American Indians (AIM) are the only people who should be barring anyone from entering the USA. Why do European-Americans think that they can limit immigration nowadays? Cherokee Indians did not restrict immigration from Europe during the 1700s. Besides, Mexicans are North American Indians (Aztec, Apache) anyway. DNA can prove this easily. | |

The American Indians (AIM) are the only people who should be barring anyone from entering the USA. Why do European-Americans think that they can limit immigration nowadays?
Uh, because we conquered them? I know wars of conquest are considered poor taste now but, traditionally, conquered peoples generally have little to say about the operation of the conqueror's government. Mostly they get displaced or wiped out. Winfield Scott got a bad rap, but he was a soldier doing a soldier's job. The same excuse didn't fly for Eichmann, which tells you a lot about who won, who lost, and who writes the rules in such cases.
I agree the Indians got a raw deal, but the same can be said of the Picts, the Tibetans and many others whose names are lost to history simply because the victors write the history. Do you know the names of the tribes the Cherokee conquerered in North Carolina? Even they don't remember them now.
On the welfare issue, sorry to disagree, but in Ellijay, GA, right up the road, there is a large undocumented Mexican population, and many, many of them have papers allowing the to get food stamps, and welfare checks. I've personally seen the cashiers at Ingles helping Mexican women cash the checks since they are unfamiliar with the procedure and don't speak the language. Common occurence, and my Spanish is improving again.
It does happen, it is happening. Having said that, these are hard-working people who need to learn English and become citizens. My people did it, they can too. My beef is that the system to allow this to occur is broken, and that it's easier to just fly under the radar. | |

You need to get rid of your accent first before you ask anybody else to learn English. Your ancestors, who came from Italy, did not learn English right away, but their children did. They did not stop using Italian right away either, did they? It takes time, trust me. Have you ever tried to learn a foreign language? It is not easy and it takes time. Why did European-Americans import Black Africans and then when slavery ended, they were discriminated against, and segregated? At first the European-Americans wanted to live with the Blacks, then after 1865, they did not want to live with them anymore! Indecisive. You all need to take down your Confederate flags because your side lost, bubba. | |

Were you there when this happened? I mean, that is why you are using the "We conquered…" bit right? I don't understand that, I just don't get how people comfortably sit back and take credit for other's work. Unless of course you were there, but you do not look 200 years old just yet... | |

Why stay and build up their own County! When they can be in Disneyland....today. Goverment programs galour........Has any body seen my Social Security, it was laying around here...........a minute ago !!!
