Posted: 7/8/2006 9:24:38 PM | | I have this to say about the subject.....East indian men, it goes without saying in my book, are gorgeous...But beyond the physical part, east indian men, whom I have had the priviledge of dating several, are respectful, sensuous, romantic and cavalier in thier approach to dating...This is a quality that many caucasion men should learn to adapt!!! East indian men are patient and kind...Yet passionate and charismatic..I am not saying that there are no caucasion men with these qualities. I am simply saying that as a whole east indian men are more gentle, respectful and sensuous men to date. Even on the occasion that there is strong sexual attraction, I have never been made to feel like a sex object from a man of east indian ethnicity --- while the same is NOT true of caucasion men (YOU ALL KNOW WHO YOU ARE and should take the examples given by your competition!!!)....To sum it all up, I would date an east indian man over a caucasion just about any day of the week...Generally speaking of course! | |

Those are the ones I can't understand. I met many of them while in college in the 1980's. I have no problem understanding people from other places where the Queen's English is spoken (Australia, Hong Kong, South Africa, or whites from India, etc.), but other than race, I haven't found a common thread of why. | |

I am still dating my East Indian boyfriend. I am caucasian and i find him to be exceptionally attractive. He is sexy, wonderful, and amazing. He is the nicest man I've ever met in my life. I don't think much of this has to do with the color of his skin; but the dark skin is also very hot.

FYI Uniquestud, the Brits weren't "mixing" with Indians, they were "mixing" with our resources and $. That's who their ass*s got so rich. They weren't going around making babies; they were creating a system of indentured servitude! The Brits created more tension around religion and caste than there was before their arrival. You don't know anything about my country, culture, heritage, history, so shut it!

Posted: 7/30/2006 1:40:47 PM | Butterfly- What makes them white washed is sporting blue, gray, green color lenses, dying their hair almost light blonde, and using skin bleach to lighten their skin color to look white. I'm ok with the modern clothing, as fashion changes in every culture, and such changes should not be credited necessarily to white culture. However, the skin lightening and color lenses are just a way to be as white looking as possible. Please don't compare that to tanning cause it's not even close to being the same. Old Indian actors never did that, this is a new phenomenon that started in the early 90s. We need to change the standard of beauty that whites have spread throughout the world. As for my comment on watching Bollywood movies, it was intended for the whites who watch them in hopes of becoming connected to Indians not intended towards your Indian friend from work who watches them because she understands and likes them. I watch them too and I’m Indian!

As for the “laid back” comment, I’m well aware of what laid back means in AMERICA as I grew up here and I don’t require any cultural translations from anyone here or back home. Now, to clarify, laid back, as used by the men on this site generally means they are careless, nonchalant, and insincere about who they meet and what they do when they meet.
Iwarrior- When white men and women ask if people of other races find them appealing, it’s usually a reaction from being rejected from someone of another race. When we ask, it’s a direct result from being devalued for our appearance, culture, or contributions. You’re comparing apple and oranges my friend.
P.S. Everyone - Stop calling us EAST Indians! There are NO WEST Indians! The people who you refer to as Indians in America are actually the ‘Native Peoples of the Americas’ (a term their scholars and spokespeople have strongly encouraged for decades). They do not appreciate being referred to as Indians, in fact they prefer to be referred to by their tribal names! By you referring to them as Indians, you are taking away their ancestry to the Americas. It’s interesting that when whites mislabel a group, the term sticks even after being proven incorrect. You do need to become a little more laid back yourself. i think you are a little overly sensitive when it comes to your heritage. Your heritage lies in the worlds largest democracy in an ancient culture that has given the world much but your culture also tried domination as all world powers have tried in one way or another. I admit I do find Indian woman attractive and I think Mahatma Gandhi was one of the top 3 men ever to walk this earth. I do not know as much about your culture as I should and the truth is I am in the middle of learning about your roots.
Just try not to lump all people into the same category because we are more your slightly tanned brother lol. I did not mean to give you a cultural lesson I did read your profile before I posted this the first time. But I will NOW you see posting something in CAPS on this site is a sign of anger and aggression in most cases. I would hope not in your case. I've heard about different cultures trying to look "American", like for example Asian people gluing their eyelids up to try to look more American... As unfortunate as it is, what can you do about that? And is it because "whites" are spreading this standard throughout the world, or is it because people are trying to look like the "whites"... That is something I cannot answer; as I have no idea. As a "white" I am just as frustrated because our society portrays beauty as such an unrealistic and unatainable standard.... I would have to starve myself and exercise three hours a day to even come close to this standard.

Just a guess, but perhaps us "whites" (as you call us) call you East Indians (at least out here in Canada) because there are also Native Indians out here, who aren't from India.... So trying to differentiate the two, people call them "Native Indians" and "East Indians".
Chitowlnleo, if you are offended by the term "East Indian", I apologize. I definitely do not want to offend anybody here. However, I would like to point out that you come across qute angry and resentful to the "whites" (as you so call us), and it is unfortunate that you feel that way. I am a caucasian person, who's family is from Poland, making me European.  I am quite pale, but I'm not dead, so my skin isn't white

Perhaps you are right, and it's good that your culture hasn't dominated or taken over any group of people. That is something that you should definitely be proud of! However,I have never dominated or taken over YOU, so who cares? I have German friends; and it sure would be silly for me to resent them becuase I am Polish.... This whole "My people/your people" thing is so primitive to me.
edit.... Anyway, I think this thread is about an Indian fellow (note that I did not say "East") who likes caucasian girls, and wasn't having a whole lot of luck, so he wanted to see what other people's opinions were... Harmless enough.

Its true tha true Indians from India,particularly Punjabis have confidence in their looks and person but this thread is a fun,social thread and theres no need to loose sleep or temper over it .
I must mention that its not true that Indians are one people,one race or one culture or religion.Its not true that India...as in Hindu India does not seek to dominate or impose themselves on others .Hindu India has rewritten history to suit.Obilerated truth and imposed fiction on whim so sorry...can't accept it.I won't delve further into politics because its way off topic.So leave that be. I am not Hindu India and am proud of my Punjabi background as well as British. My culture is not Hindu India .
I will say that Brits did mix and were no worse than any other rulers and proabaly better than others . The mixture is shown up in people like Cliff Richard,Englebert,Merle Oberon to name a few.A whole set of people were known as Anglo-Indians .
There are light skinned people in India with blue,green,hazel,gray eyes and red/brown hair.Many of my aunties and cousins are like that but I am a natural Punjabi Jatt and very comfortable with it too.You may get the occasional rare blond .Ashwarya has natural eyes.So does Hrtik...who else is there thats of debate...? Karishma,Kareena.........all these are Punjabis and naturally light...all the Kapoors are.These people may not fit the stereotype of Indians but what can they do ? Rohit Bal is naturally redhaired and freckly.No creams or whatever.I really think that Indians generally have better things to do than spend money they don't have on false creams to "lighten" their faces.Give us strength! How about they try keeping body and soul together with food,particularly down south as in south of Punjab.
Kajol and Rani are very popular actresses but they are very brown and Bengali Indians.Thats against your "whitewash" Bollywood theory .
There is absolutely no need for anger at this thread .
Its just a social question,which i would never consider because I know that Punjabi Indians really have no lack of self confidence at all and no resentment against westerners . | |
