Let's look at "The law of averages". In a country where there are probably 500 million females you are bound to find some attractive ones. Does this mean EI women are generally beautiful? Not in the least. Let's suppose we can surmise that 1 out of every 10,000 Indian women are conventionally attractive for Asian women. Then you can say that there are about 50,000 attractive EI women in India. However, The ratio of good looking women is far better in other countries...

Moving right along, I have found this thread fascinating. For the record, I do find many East Indian men attractive. Maybe that's partly because those with whom I have contact are very highly educated and compassionate - many of them are psychiatrists. I would date one of those guys in a heartbeat, if I could get one of them interested in me! I enjoy listening to classical music of India, although not a lot of the newer popular stuff. Sometimes I go to concerts and see many young women in the audience in their saris. They look so elegant. I would like to learn more about Indian culture.
I'll have to admit, Chitownleo, or whatever your name is, you make some valid points about Indians and other races measuring their own beauty against "white" expectations. Despite the anger that comes across from you, I think you speak truth. In the same way I understand the North Carolina African-American guy's frustration, especially being that he lives in the south. I would be resentful too. I hope we, as a global community, can make progress away from thinking that white standards of beauty are somehow THE standards to be measured against. As some have pointed out, we have made some progress but have a long way to go. | |

Some do, some don't.
Within any racial group, some members will strike some people's fancy more than others, and there is no blanket formula that everyone works with.
(Though we do have a template of societal norms that may influence what we deem as attractive.)
The last person I was in an LTR with was East Asian, and I found her exceptionally attractive and beautiful. | |

Posted: 10/30/2006 5:31:29 PM | There is a girl in my gym who is a grad student who is east indian background. It's a university gym and she is a grad student. She has the sweetest smile I've ever seen. I told her today that I never mind when a cute girl with a great smile asks if she can share the equipment with me - lol. Then she smiled and I melted on the inside. Ahhh - completely powerless to the beautiful smile - lol.
Also my eye doctor is east indian and she while older than me is just very graceful and very beautiful with an infectious laugh. I love going to see her because she just 'gets' my humour and I love making people laugh who share my sense of humour.
I think people should remember though that it doesn't make someone a racist just because they tend not to date outside of their culture or even that their preference is for people who share similar ethno-centric features as themselves. It's more of a grey issue than one of simple right/wrong. People can get very judgemental when it comes to these issues on both sides of the fence and sometimes it is an unfair judgement.
Are people who prefer tall people bigotted against people who are short? Remember I am asking about preference for attraction not wether the person believes short people should be denied the same human rights as tall people or whether there they believe short people are inferior to tall people. | |

Most of the time people prefer to marry within their own race and culture not just EIs. for EIs it's enforced a lot more because of the parents and traditional values but it all depends on the family and the person and how devoted they are to the culture. My parents really don't have a say in who I marry as far as I am concerned. | |

I am just not attracted to balding, hairy guys that have twig arms, or are flabby for that matter, of any race. Plus I don't find bug eyes that look like they have dark eyeshadow on 24/7 very attractive either.
