blue you are bitter because some man put you on a shelf and now you want to take it out on the rest of us for the sake of your kids, see a therapist
eccentric, for the sake of your kids, you should give them up for adoption...give them a chance to live a happier life. I truly hope you're not imposing your views on them.
|
| Are American women out of control Posted: 2/23/2005 8:12:30 AM | | No, I am simply suggesting that therapy would help her to deal with these issues before they become transposed onto her children. | |

| Are American women out of control Posted: 2/23/2005 8:26:54 AM | eccentric, i'm not saying your bitterness is unwarranted...obviously, you have your reasons to be bitter. but, your kids don't. they shouldn't be raised to be bitter due to your experiences. if they're going to become bitter, is should be as a result of their own experiences. i'm sure you know kids are impressionable. you should show them there are reasons to be happy. what good will it do if you make your kids miserable too?
we all have our demons, but your defenses are tougher to break down than a brick wall. all i'm saying is you can't go through life that way, for the sake of your children

| Are American women out of control Posted: 2/23/2005 8:29:16 AM | and I am actively working to deal with my anger so that it won't affect my children. I involve myself in activities that allow me to express and deal with those feelings appropriately. yes, I am angry, but unlike alot of other people, I am working to not be angry anymore. | |

Knowing you personally i say maybe that is because the type of men you hung out with in the past. Not all men are the same i have no desire to birth out babies nor am i jealous that you can.
|
| Are American women out of control Posted: 2/23/2005 8:36:04 AM | actually, chuck, although you do know me, you don't know that i'm merely playing devil's advocate here. i love that i'm a woman. i wouldn't change that for anything (not that i could). yes, i've had bad experiences, but i don't regret any of them. they're learning experiences. the past makes you who you are today. and, frankly, i like me.
the whole birthing comment was actually something i've read in a psych course in college. i can't remember which famous opium addict said it, so i didn't mention their name!

| Are American women out of control Posted: 2/23/2005 8:46:35 AM | I think the traditional role worked better than whats going on today, we have less marriage, more divorce, more spouse abuse, its bad, we all know it is.
"Traditional Role" Why do you think that we hear about more spousel abuse and more divorce? Women decided that we were not going to take the crap anymore. We stood up for ourselves and now we are being critisized for doing it. Go figure.
Take a look at whats going on with the Amish. You want to see history unfold again pay attention to that.

Too many people confuse "traditional role" with abusive relationships. I am not going to say that it didn't happen and that it isn't a problem. What I am going to say is that not all "traditional" relationships are abusive, and by living in "traditional roles" does not mean submitting to abuse.

| Are American women out of control Posted: 2/23/2005 9:00:57 AM | I agree! Though there are so many different ways to view the Traditional Role" My sister... Married two kids, two dogs, husband works his a55 off to support the family and my sister stays home, both kids are in school for 6hours a day. to me in this scenerio her house should be spotless, dinner on the table. Now two working parents then it should be shared. As far as me, if I am dating someone and we are out together, I go get a drink I will get him one. Now if his fat a55 is sitting on the coach doing nothing and asks me to get up and get him something.... Well than it probably is going to be "What? Your kidding me. Your legs dont look broke to me." Sorry just honest. | |

| Are American women out of control Posted: 2/23/2005 9:23:52 AM | sorry to jump in so late in a thread and not having read a majority of the posts....
when one system is destroyed and a new system replaces it, there are always casualties in the transition. it is seldom, if ever, smooth. *traditional* roles have experienced a rapid and significant upheaval and we (men and women) have been undergoing a huge period of transition. and in this time, men are given mixed signals and are trying to come to grips about who and what they are...as are women.
look at the number of problems caused by women trying to do it all...mother, homemaker and great employee all at the same time. women continue to critcize other women pitting those who choose to be stay-at-home mom vs those who are career women. we, as women, are struggling to find some sense of ourselves and our roles in such a way that honours the equality we've been struggling to acquire...which we haven't completely achieved, by the way. it's not that we're out of control...we're just struggling to find balance.
at the same time, men are being forced to find a new role for themselves in this topsy-turvy world and they are struggling just as much as women are. they have held a place that is not only difficult to let go, it was safe and easy to understand b/c it was familiar for so long.
change is never easy but i hope that my son's generation will reap the benefits of our (both men and women) common struggle to come to grips with equality and the complete transition from those outdated *traditional* roles.

| Are American women out of control Posted: 2/23/2005 10:37:39 AM | what power their penises have in the baby creating role
Ok - this is a dumb statement.....like, your penis is a separate entity?
Dudes, it isn't your penis...it is you...without the rest of that luscious male body, there can be no sperm....as long as you give a body appendage that much power, you will not view anything as a whole...
Revel in your whole body...I wanna revel with it...
