I could never understand why women who say they can dance never do. The whole reason of me dancing with a partner is to make them look good. If she looks good, we look good. the reason I say that is whenever you see a couple on the dance floor, the man is usually in black and white and the lady is dressed in something very flamboyant meaning a dress cut up to .. And down to... All eyes are on her, not the man.
I took Ballroom dancing for about a year but could always dance. There is nothing better than dancing with someone who will let you lead. The music just flows through you as if you become part of the music. Either with a swing (East Coast) or a waltz, there is something magical about it.
I know that most Studios are only there to make money and charge way to much but sometimes it may be worth it, if you go as a couple. Because nothing is worse than dancing with different partners, if you dance with one partner most of the time you will get to know their moves as they will know yours. And when you get on the floor to dance Magic takes place.
That’s why it is so crucial to pick the right partner. I know it is said that most men have two left feet, but what they fail to say is that most women either have two right feet or insist on leading every time.

Bruce, I agree if you are going to dance in competition you need to have the same partner to perfect your moves.
To be a good dancer in a social setting you need to dance with as many people as possible. What you call getting to know their moves can also be a situation where you are each falling into each others bad habits. Dancing lead/follow with many partners, keeps you an honest leader/follower.

I do! I LOVE ballroom dancing. My favourites are the samba and rock n roll. Bit tiring, but totally worth it. I did a year of beginner's 3 yrs ago and haven't had time to take lessons since, but I'd love to take lessons and become better at them :(
