Posted: 6/9/2006 3:49:44 AM | I am English, was born here and have lived here all my life, and I think it's about time we English stopped apologising for being ...ENGLISH.... seikhs have their insignia on their number plates, windows n stuff, muslims have excerpts of the koran on there rear view mirrors, I see India and Pakistan flags displayed proudly during the cricket and Jamaicans practically dress in their national colours... Who cares what is displayed or where.... As long as everybody can do it and it is not directly offending anyone else (bleeding heart liberals excluded breathing has been known to offend them!) We have Black pride, Scottish pride, Welsh pride even Gay pride , but English pride? no way I might offend a multi faithed disabled lesbian with homicidal tendancies somewhere in outer mongolia and she has her rights!!! LOL rant over, soap box returned to disgruntled Green grocer and Valium taken ....  | |

Why would it offend anyone? You can bet your bottom dollar that no-one has even complained, but they ban it anyway!
I take it, being Scottish, I'm supposed to one of those on the 'offended bus' when I see an England flag flying from a car or an office building or a house......well I'm not lol.
Fly your flags, be proud of where you come from and don't be afraid to show it!

Posted: 6/9/2006 4:57:19 PM | I dont know which group anyone complaining about the flying of the flag is claiming to represent, but I say fly your flag, whatever that is, with pride.
I think there used to be an issue where the flag was hijacked by a certain element and used to beat people over the head with. But the best way to combat that is for everyone to fly the flag with pride, and dont let anyone abuse it for their own ends.
If anything I dont think we do enough flag waving in this country, we need to do it more and start believing in ourselves. We are not perfect, but there are a lot of things we do well. | |

I am one for supporting my nation but when someone completely overdoes it, and changes their lawn to an england flag then it aint right. A little is a lot... or has that bypassed people.
Just like those who over do it on christmas and use enough energy to keep Las Vegas going for the next 10 years. Come on... want some good arguments on this.   | |
