| | Good Luck England, We're ALL behind you ALL the Way!!!!Page 8 of 8 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) | Good players don't become bad players overnight, so you seriously have to question the tactics
effectively when we started the game, we were playing a 4-6-0 formation, because Rooney, being a lot of things, is not a lone striker, he's an advanced midfielder and requires a target man to function with effectively. Our midfield was overcrowded and inhibited any form of open game, we could only play the short passing game because our own players were in the way of any incisive pass
look what happened after Rooney got sent off and Erikkson sent on Crouch, our formation changed to 4-4-1 and immediately there was mode space in midfield, we had no problems holding their midfield and we had probably our best period of the game attacking wise.
if Crouch had been on from the start alongside Rooney then there is ino doubt in my mind who would be awaiting France in the semi-final next week, and it wouldn't be Scolari's Portugal.
Simple truth is Sven got his tactics wrong, If you are going to play a holding midfielder and Rooney you don't need another 4 in the side.
Glad to see Beckham gone as captain, he was totally ineffective throughout the tournament.

There is at least one person who knows, and if he cares to share why it's my fault then I will not deny it, so long as he tells you the truth.

| Good Luck England, We're ALL behind you ALL the Way!!!! Posted: 7/2/2006 11:18:29 AM | Something that never ceases to amaze me is just how many 'fans' still get sucked into the hype that every England team taken to a new world cup is always better than the previous one. Come on, be honest, how many of you were truly duped into thinking they really had a chance this time?
What really annoys me is that, WHEN they do go out, there's always some controversy surrounding their exit. Then everyone becomes critical of why they lost, telling us who should and shouldn't have played, etc.
Did I really read some guy's claims that Beckham had been inaffective for most of the tournament? Is this fella real? Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't our Becks make most of the goals in the group stages and score the vital free kick that got them through to play Portugal?
The fact is, when it comes to playing REAL ambitious teams in REAL tournaments, England - as a team - cannot hack it. They often lack the necessary levels of bottle needed to take them the extra nine yards. That is probably why they never never win penalty shootouts.
Hmmm, I wonder just how many 'fans' and flag flyers will swallow all the hype that will be repeated at the next big tournament? Guess it's lucky for me that I won't be one of them.
Come on England, come one England! Yeah, right! Maybe sometime in the next 40 years, eh? Then again, quite possibly not!
Regards to the eventual winners and all who post here.

Posted: 7/2/2006 5:27:33 PM | You can have world class players in your squad.....as England did - but if they are not moulded into a 'team' of play, then....you'll get the performance of an England side - Its not part (and even more so today) for the english to involve in 'team play' - Society has gone !, its 'self-preservation'...and 'ego' of the individual that underscores all mass-medium and the main perpetual daily influence.
O.K from time to time a bunch of millionaire actors/pop stars, to purge their guilt, will ask you to, 'give us your money for charity', but essentially, its all about 'self' - Thus, if England had the best 11 players in the world...the performance would still be the same as its all about 'singularity'. - Only a foreign coach can change this - (Sven just wanted a 'quiet' life from his players) - Steve McClaren will be just more of the same.

| Good Luck England, We're ALL behind you ALL the Way!!!! Posted: 7/2/2006 5:44:08 PM | Well said, offlimits... But England were crap from the first day of the tourney. For so-called professional footballers to miss three out of four penalties is a disgrace. Beckham won't be missed (John Terry will fill his place), nor will the fornicating Swede (£25m richer....). Forget all the hysteria about how well England played with ten men, when Rooney got the red card it didn't matter one jot - England were playing with ten men in defence anyway and Rooney hadn't a hope in hell of scoring. And according to the News of the World, none of our players comes anywhere near the Opta list of World Class players, ie officially we have NO World class players.
Time to wake up, England, chuck out the overpaid posturing fornicators and get some real men in the team.

Posted: 7/2/2006 6:32:51 PM | | They were utter garbage from the word go and to say Germany had a so called crap team at the start of the tournament.I did'nt see them struggle against Equador and Sweden, and if we had been in any other group we would have gone home last week.We had no strikers and a disjointed midfield and Lampard could'nt hit a cows a*** with a banjo. What hurts more is that Brazil and Argentina are out,and the World cup was up for grabs and we are more than capable of beating whats left in it.Still I blame Eriksson and his crap tactics and not giving half of the squad he took a run out,and not dropping Lampard and Beckham.

| Good Luck England, We're ALL behind you ALL the Way!!!! Posted: 7/3/2006 2:23:33 AM | Wow how many people here would like the Head England coach job on here? We played, we won and then we got beaten and then the slagging starts. Why cant you be proud of what they have achieved instead of ranting and raving about how crap we were/are. I, like the majority of England supporters, was dissappointed at the result but I am still proud, not bitter. I will still fly the flag and wear the shirt with pride and no matter how badly they may do in the next championship, I will still be behind them. Have you ever though maybe we the 'supporters' are willing them to lose to justify the rants?
P.S. Mods it is called Football, never ever Soccer.

| Good Luck England, We're ALL behind you ALL the Way!!!! Posted: 7/3/2006 12:53:42 PM | Re Msg 188, it has nothing to do with being proud and flying the flag - I was both - it has to do with professionalism and real desire. A classic example of England's unprofessionalism was the way Carrick took his penalty - I imagine England might have practised a bit of penalty-taking now and then in their preparations for WC2006, but clearly nobody thought to tell him to wait for the ref's signal before taking the kick. What a dork.
Sure, I'm proud of England and the way they doggedly stuck to their guns, and that the fans were well behaved etc, but it isn't enough for footballers on the kind of money they earn to perform in the lacklustre way they did.
And the slagging actually started after the first of the group games, if you recall....
