| WHATS MORE IMPORTANT BRAINS OR BEAUTY??
Posted: 2/22/2005 9:29:31 PM | Really? And this is a true question - I have found a lot of guys are scared by the concept of combining looks and brains.....
Now I am no beauty - I know that - but I am not unattractive either...... but I am d*mn smart (high IQ, Masters degree.....whatever you want)...and some guys I spoken to are intimidated by me generally....does being smart make me unattractive?? | |

Enough self deprication "Red", ......you are beautiful.
I have no problem with smarts, .....I teach music to a range of people, from a 7 y/o kid to a 43 y/o particle physicist ....I am comfortable with both.
I tend to prefer elegant women with whom I know there is a high level of understanding and a good grasp of the dialectic, not threatened in the least..... no.
Dumb broads scare the bejezus outta' me though.

I am able to challenge people and also myself. But im not an encyclopedia
But im also street smart and confident i know what i want out of life and i am a good judge of character etc.
So whats everyone defining here when they talk bout brains??
I consider myself to be an equal balance between the 2 but i just guess its your own perception of what brains really means... | |

Well, ....opinionated doesn't do much for me, as opinions by their very nature are often baseless. I prefer reasoned points of view to voiced opinions,
....as at least a point of view allows for a frame of reference ......which allows for open discussion as opposed to a futile argument.
I really love a woman who can express herself with reason and eloquence, it makes for a more positive experience.......

I can't stand know-it-alls in general, but they are particularly annoying when they are extremely young and/or don't have any formal education or real experience in the area they profess to know so much about. BRAINS is having the ability to have a normal conversation and make good impressions. Its having a personality that rocks and being able to be sensitive to other peoples needs and comfort levels. It doesn't have to be someone who is a rocket scientist, maybe just a decent dose of common sense? BRAINS to me, is also having the ability to admit when you don't know something, and asking for clarification. Only truly smart people can admit when they are wrong and further pursue the truth.
And SEX is extremely important as well, but it doesn't have to be a separate category all together. To me, its made up of BEAUTY and BRAINS! ha ha | |

Posted: 2/22/2005 11:07:11 PM | Although I’ve only been browsing the forums for a few days, I’m seeing wisdom that I didn’t expect. (some times). When I was much, much younger, if someone would ask what I would be looking for, I would give an answer like a nice smile, personality, good looks, intelligence, etc.
I feel that the sum-total of all of those things add value, but life experience (both in my personal and professional relationships) has taught me that character seems to be the most important thing. The character inside of you tells me how you will react in a given situation. A lot of the other attributes may change with time, but your basic character is you! | |

Posted: 2/22/2005 11:28:50 PM | I have to admit I'm pretty vain, not so much as some, but enough to make me conscious of the great power beauty has. Beauty can launch a thousand ships as they say...but if I had to choose between possessing one without the other, I'd choose intellect.
Why? Because brains is more versatile. There are only a handful of things I could do with beauty: model, actress, spokesperson, trophy wife, playboy bunny...hmm, that's it. With brains, the list would go on for pages.
That said, the naturally beautiful ones are truly lucky and deserve my envy. | |

Self-appointed beauty is also suspect, because it is in the eye of the beholder. Seeing yourself as beautiful is fine, but when speaking of what others want, is the point how you see yourself or how they see you? We're all ugly and stupid at times. It's relative, and it changes depending on the situation. It also seems to go opposite what we think of ourselves. For example, someone who thinks they are brainy and beautiful is usually arrogant, which is stupid, and vain, which is ugly. It's how your idea of yourself compares with others. Are you better or worse? That answer reveals how you are to get along with. People who need to be told they are more beuatiful and more intelligent have egos starved for something. Whereas people who think of themselves as ugly and stupid, well, this example isn't going anywhere now is it? Oh well. Why can't we all just get along? | |

What is it that about? I thought of that because I can't think of anyone I know who I don't think is attractive. But I can scan a crowd of people and sort them that way.
