its not the wrinkles it is the attitude. lots of my friends look great for their age but they act like they are 80. they are stuck in a time zone via their clothes, hair, etc. men are guilty as well. i hear differant ones say..well maybe i am fat but i dont have wrinkles like that one there...it wears me down!! or guys say if she wasnt so fat i would be interested, while their bellys are swollen up like they are in their 9th month of pregnancy...cant help but laugh. age means nothing, looks may fade, but laughter, heart, and attitude remain steady and true. give me attitude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and light heartedness all day long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that you are rude, indigo rose!

What kind of nonsense are you spewing? I am 54, fat and have many less wrinkles than many thinner people my age. You are way off base here kiddo.

I used to think it was mostly genetics, but as we got into our 50's, my sisters all are beginning to look older than me. So who knows? I don't eat as well as I should but I have never smoked.

I look younger than I am because I exercise, sleep well and I also have a good attitude about life; basically, I am a kid at heart; and since I do take care of my body (I can wear clothing from the Junior's Department); though I am a very sensitive person, I try not to take things to heart, and just to laugh at life (and the harsh experiences); also I do not have any children, have a career (that I love) and my dad (also looks young for his age); but the bottomline, I think the (true) reason why I look younger, is because of my attitude; to me "age" is ONLY a number!!!

Has anyone noticed that one of the best forum contributors-- EASTSIDE EDDIE and the orginator of this thread has left the pond? I see he deleted and jumped out on June 18th. Too bad, he will be missed, I hope he sees this and comes back.

Re his question -- I come from great genes and while there was a time when I was in my late 20s and was still getting carded -- I didn't appreciate it, I certainly do now!

I think inner energy is also important. People are often amazed at how old I am. I swear they are seeing my energy levels and being blinded to how I really look.

I think it is a bit like accents..every body else has one except me. All my friends look old to me but they have the same opinion of me. Whats wrong with preseving yourself in red wine and basking in the sun, as long as you can enjoy yourself?

Genetics for sure...but alot of it depends on the persons outlook on life and living. My diet consists of the food I like, I adore the sun, refuse to turn into a heath nut, although I work in the medical field. Have smoked since I was 13....am seriously in the process of putting them away....( trying)....( breathing usually helps with you looks...lol ) But ...just enjoy life...love it ..live it..tomorrow may never come.

I have a couple of comments for my first post here ever.

Going back a ways in this thread. Greying beards are they a turn off or turn on? I think it depends a little if it is on a guy or on a gal.

Trish, I like you, have smoked most of the time since I was 13. I have quit a few times for up to 5 years. I have a feeling if we both had identical twins who never smoked and we had not seen them in years we would be shocked what we would look like if we had never touched the things. They definately add some lines and bags under the eyes. My understanding is that plastic surgeons won't waste their time with someone who smokes.

I have to agree with everyone else. Lifestyle is important as is exercise and diet and avoiding things that are bad for us. Genes are our best friend or worst enemy.

People born on February 29th have only one birthday every four years. They will outlive the rest of us many times over.
