| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... I wouldnt take my chances...unless you never kiss him...or welcome the "gift that keeps on giving." | |

With that in mind, you never know he might be getting them fixed next week, and then some other girl's gonna snatch 'em up, lol. Hey, you never know, do ya?

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 8/18/2008 12:49:53 PM | Robyn, Is this the SAME GUY that you wrote about and have been dating for three years NOW in the thread, "Verbal and Emotional Abuse"???? AND..the one that you list in your profile as you being Single/Not Looking category???
OMG...if so??? Get out of this relationship IMMEDIATELY...or else maybe you like abuse and punishment??? I would definitely get counseling..for sure!!!
If it isn't the same guy, then my apologies, but whether it is shallow or not, I agree with most that said about bacteria and gingivitis. I couldn't do it, but that's just me.
Best of luck in your decision and, I hope you make the SMART one.

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 8/18/2008 4:43:09 PM | | You don't know the guy very well - he may SEEM nice. but where there's smoke there's fire. His teeth may be an outward sign of hidden underlying problems. Possible drugs, poor hygiene, neglecting his health, no money to take care of his own basic needs - not so nice. Doesn't make for nice healthy relationships either. If his mouth isn't clean, what else might not be clean? One of the reasons I won't date smokers is their oral hygiene is lacking. I like to kiss - an important part of finding the chemistry with someone. I can't be with someone who's mouth I won't touch with a ten foot pole. I'm blessed with great teeth (if only my body was in such great shape) and a talented orthodontist, but that doesn't mean I haven't put a lot of moneyand care into maintaining them too. I've heard from dental hygienists before that there are men that have come in that brush their teeth only about once a month. I guess they just wait for a special occasion like a full moon? | |

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 8/18/2008 8:03:34 PM | | okay i don't expect perfection but rotten teeth that look like corn niblets or like they just ate cheesies- EWWW! I can't imagine kissing anyone like that. It's one of the few things I really think about: please don't let him have yellow gross teeth. If i don't want to kiss him then i won't want to do anything else either.... | |

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 8/18/2008 8:40:35 PM | ugh......I dated a guy with bad teeth but the part I couldn't handle was the resulting bad breath. UGH. I'm sensitive to bad scents, and let me tell you.....I felt like plugging my nose every time he kissed me. I thought he was an ok guy besides that and wanted to give it a chance, however his personality turned out to be uglier than his breath.
It's up to you if you want to give it a go, crooked teeth or whatnot can be kind of cute, but ROTTING? C'mon, he must realize it looks bad, but beyond that, wouldn't it hurt like hell???!!!!

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 8/18/2008 9:04:35 PM | If you're not using your mouth, then your'e not making love, you are having sex... That's okay for some people, but I have to have more of an experience than thtat. | |

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 8/18/2008 9:11:58 PM | Sorry but bad oral hygeine is a deal breaker for me. If your friend has known him for a long time and can speak for his character....and its negative. That's 2 strikes against him already. I would tell him that you think he's a very nice guy, but your just not interested. | |

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 8/18/2008 9:12:13 PM | And I don't really understand why so many people think the OP is shallow or whatnot. Goodness me this is a dating site. If everyone liked or disliked the same attributes about everyone else we'd be in trouble. Everyone has preferences. And yes, a lot of people cannot afford expensive dental work or have a genetic condition or illness that causes tooth/gum decay or disease. But does that mean she should be obligated to date someone just to show how NOT shallow she is? C'mon! I'm sure some guys wouldn't want to date me because I'm not skinny, or I don't have brown eyes, or I'm too tall for their liking, etc. I may be nice and all, but it's just the attraction quotient.
Plus, she hasn't been dating the guy, she just met him, so it's hardly 'dumping him' over this or whatnot. As for 'teeth can be fixed' - well, sure they can. But what is she supposed to do, whip out some brochures and discuss financing with him on their first date? How well do you suppose that would go over on the guy?
Personally, I just can't tolerate bad breath. If that makes me shallow, that's fine. All the better for the other person not to date me, right? Who knows, they might not like how my nose is shaped.
I'd be more concerned with asking her friend why she would say to avoid him. Is it something based on an incident she knows of, or just a dislike?

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 8/18/2008 9:30:24 PM | Most of you are so clueless it's rather scary!
I have a friend that grew up in the mountains, the water up there was full of iron, and a few other mineral that eat away the teeth.
He has to be one of the cleanest people I have ever met in my life. He takes healthy to a whole new level.
I would bet a million fishy points that given an hour of conversation with this guy and you would be head over heals mad crazy and willing to lick his teeth!
Hell there are times that he has enlightened me about something and I want to kiss him!
Stay all prettied up! Ever see the effects of a hard bout of cancer and what it does to the body and superficial looks? Think about it!

Maybe we should first define "bad teeth"? Missing... badly yellowed... anything else attributed to poor oral hygiene...
