================= Me an my one upmanship.
This girl is formally inducted into the Plaited Belt Brigade.
"I go on this great first date and we decide to share a cab home - separate stops. When we get in, he buckles his seatbelt! I know that's a wise thing to do, so I feel like a jerk saying this, but it totally turned me off. It just seemed so kid-like and lame. Is he too much of a weenie for me, or am I out of my mind?" wrote Unrestrained Lady, Upper West Side.
To the uninitiated, Unrestrained Lady may seem like a neurotic aberration. But ditching men because they fail to measure up in some infinitesimal way has been common place among daters and among womens talk for years.
We all know women who won't go out with men who don't drive “prestige” cars or didn't go to a "prestige" school.
Or the woman who instantly went off a man she had been crazy for because he turned up at her front door wearing a plaited belt.
In the days before e-tags, another felt her stomach turn when her date fumbled with the bridge toll. These are usually not just excuses to jettison an unsatisfactory male, but genuine reasons for spontaneous revulsion.

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 6/18/2006 3:27:46 AM | Hmm; I feel that these lame excuse double for "convenient" excuses. We don't want to crush someone we care about. They are convenient and easy excuses because they are not the "Right" ones for us. Yet, we care about them and wish them well. :) Right?
I think guys do it a bit differently. Sometimes, they get nasty on purpose, in the hopes that we will go away and think that they are jerks.

Just a question...
But do some of these fourms ever give you a head ache when you read about how much stuff people complain about i mean it's different if they just getting it off their chest but what about some people who complain, about the weridest stuff?
That is nonsense and i don't see the point in complaining about something if you can NOT fix it or change how it is or what is going on or how a person may look or act.

I agree with you lol but just because some people dont have PERFECT teeth and they arent all shiny and PURE WHITE must not be worth any women/anybody's time but i do NOT see why something so silly as "teeth" will matter, sure nobody wants somebody who has really bad teeth and (can be done somethin about, it.) but if theres nothing else to do why should any of it matter....
I can see it now when people ask other's so what do you look for in a man/woman?
"Well he/she has to have GOOD teeth they cant be out of shape in any fourm they cant be little grundgy, they have to be PERFECT PURE WHITE."
what the helll..... lol this is the krazyest i ever herd, somebody being so picky as to "teeth".

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 6/18/2006 10:15:58 AM | Hey first off I would figure out what the friend meant thats a givin', now the teeth thats up to you too of course, but the fact of the matter is there is a lot of reasons someone can have bad teeth, and you won't know, if at first sight you go nope not for me, bye see you later you worthless person!! Now me, get the block buttons going, because I have bad teeth, when I was little I almost died, as a result of that my body shut down, to fight the disease so there is a ring around my teeth where enamal didn't grow, on top of that the medicine they gave me stained my teeth yellow, I have wanted dentures since I was in jr. High, but we were not rich and couldn't afford it, I am finally getting close to where I can, so hopefully in a few months I can actually smile and not feel self confident about it. Trust me I brush my teeth, I have tried everything I can find to try and get them looking nice, sometimes my bathroom looks like a dentist office. Just last month a girl I have known for years was talking with me, I recentily got a new job and it has decent dental insurance. plus I have been saving for a Harley. So I said, "I'm sick of my teeth, once my insurance kicks in I'm going to get dentures, with that and my Harley money". She was like "Oh good, your teeth have always bugged me but I didn't want to say anything, I didn't want to hurt you" she wasn't telling me anything I didn't know. She didn't hurt me. Then she said you can stand to lose a little bit of weight too, that I hadn't really thought of so I broke out the weight benches, bought a excersize pad and a rowing machine. The point is we are not that fragile of people (at least I ain't), talk about stuff people!!!! | |

Bad teeth is a sign of poor hygene.
That's not always true, I brush my teeth three times a day, floss twice and use mouthwash morning and night..My front teeth are great, my back teeth however are a whole different matter. They're totally weak and each one of them has had work done on them, I think there's only two in there right now that aren't broken to some degree.
Unfortunately I can't afford the huge amount it's going to cost to get them fixed and it's gonna cost a lot cause I have to be totally knocked out for it. What I would like is to have all my molars pulled out and get implants but at $3500 an implant, that's gonna happen.
Either way what I'm trying to say, my back teeth may be bad but they don't smell, you can't even tell they're broken unless you have a flashlight in my mouth and I definitly do not have poor hygiene.
Don't judge just cause of teeth.

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 6/18/2006 10:46:19 AM | Okay, as far as the teeth go, I am with you on that! Gross teeth are a "deal breaker" for me. I can't and won't do bad breath and bad teeth!
Now as far as someone "Helping" me out by telling me not to go out with this one or that one! Phuck them! Almost every story I have ever heard that someone told me about this one or that one was almost all prevarications (lies). I ALWAYS go to the person and ask them about (this thing or that thing that I heard) so I can find out the truth. So many times people miss out on really good people because of so much BS that a pseuo-friend tells. Don't listen to all that crap-O-la, find out for yourself.\
I could tell you so many stories of things that really happened to me because of so called church people that wanted to help me by telling which people it was ok to go out with! I had one deacon of the chuch come to my office in the hospital to tell me what kind of "sinner" I was going out with! Once again I say PHUCK him, because he didn't have a clue what he was talking about. He was just repeating what other so called church members had told him! Talk about EVIL! They should be in the fires of hell themselves for speading gossip.

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 6/18/2006 12:48:18 PM | Wheww....this thread makes me feel so lucky that I've never had to go to a dentist for any reason.
To be honest OP, I'd date that guy you are describing, but I'd tell him politely that we'd never kiss on the mouth, unless he fixes it.Now I don't think that is shallow.Oh and to be only fair, he can pick any of my bad features and make his own rule.I would not mind. But bad teeth can be fixed, so not sure why you are so against dating him.

To those that have such a problem dating those with dental problems I give up. Go ahead be shallow and run the risk of missing out on someone that might have been perfect for you.

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 6/18/2006 11:01:12 PM | I grew up in a poor area most people could not aford to go to the Dentist. My teeth are not bad maybe a little discolored,a few broken ones in the back I plan on getting pulled or fixed. But I did grow up with kids/people who have bad teeth. Two reasons #1 there parents were ignorant now they suffer that they are adults and plan on getting them fixed or are getting them fixed. #2 like mentioned earlyer gum line cavities are expensive to get fixed and most dentists dont like to pull teeth that can be fixed. Most construction workers dont have dental plans. Thats just anouther thought. If a person is in that line of work. Just want to say before you point at the guy or girl maybe it was how they grew up and now they suffer from bad teeth and can only aford to get them fixed slowly. | |
