I feel if someone can't take care of their teeth then I have to wonder if they are really a clean person. Not saying they may not be a great person cause I am sure they are. A smile tells alot about a person in turn so does their teeth. BUT if hes a great person then why not try. Can't lose out on a great man because of his teeth, they can always be fixed down the road. But you have to be willing to accept him for who he is inside and if you can then you can get over the bad teeth issue. | |

Posted: 6/19/2006 6:11:17 AM | Laugh and enjoy your good fortune. I was born with what is called chalk teeth. not enough enamel. They never had a chance. Let alone the light green patina all the way through them.
Even being a GM Executive, my dads plan wasnt any help. 12 yrs with major medical wouldnt fix them either, all I can do is wait until they get so bad I cant eat, and try to buy dentures.
My wisdom teeth have the lower jaw neves run right through them, and its going to take surgery to the tune of 3500, just to pull them alone. No insurance will cover this, then or now. My dad had dentures at 18. And no, i havent smiled in 30 yrs.
So now since crackheads are losing their teeth i suppose all of you think I am one? Think all you like. Perhaps I can arrange some dental work for you too... Regardless of your holier then thou attitudes, millions of americans have inferior dental plans, if any, and around my age will be faced with dentures, regardless of wether they can afford them or not. The last estimate i had for complete dentures, oral surgery, {hospital, not the dentist} and all was near 10,000 dollars. I am sorry, I dont have 10k to throw away, just to make you happy to see me.

Posted: 6/19/2006 6:16:39 AM | Bad teeth are almost like a bad sole. So much of your oral hygiene can be linked or cause a lot of other health problems throughout the body, some very serious. Just look up gingivitis on webmd. Bad teeth can be a sign of drug use too. During a dark period in my life when I was hitting drugs really hard, because of the type of drug I was doing I ruined my teeth. They were still white, but damn they got cut up really bad at the tops near the gums.
Appearances can be important to some people and not to others. Hygiene should be important to everybody. If he doesn't look after his body well, what do you think his house looks like? Hope he doesn't own any pets because if he doesn't clean his own teeth, will he clean up any accidents from his pets?
If he's getting them looked after, I wouldn't let it bother me, just keep him on the hot plate so to speak until he has them fixed. If he's not getting them fixed try dropping a few hints, I dunnno buy him a toothbrush or something.
But you have something else to think about to. Why your friend told you to stay away from her. When I get told this by a friend, I ask why and if I don't get any reasons I don't pay attention to the warning. But after finding out why, I'll still go back to the person and talk to them, ask certain questions that could tell me if what I've been told is true or not. | |

This is not just about aesthetics...the state of his teeth (and the warning given to you) is more importantly about indications about/implications of the kind of person he could be and so forth.
Yeah I would steer clear...sounds like he is most likely a chronic drug user...perhaps meth? If one goes to the dentist as needed for weak enamel or the like...no way their teeth would be BLACK and ROTTING...
Sorry but that sounds shady and illogical (unless someone was a former drug user and can't afford a dental plan to get their teeth taken care of). Plus let's be honest...black rotting teeth aren't sexy, appealing or pleasant. There's nothing wrong with saying that. You don't have to make him or anyone else a charity case just to appear "nice"...What's the point?
