| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 6/26/2006 7:03:50 PM | really really difficult one... my ex had an accident where he lost one of his front teeth and the one on beside it... he was very young and it made him feel horrible not to have teeth. He thought I would dump him (we were dating then) but he worked 2 jobs, got a loan and got those permanent teeth drilled in... I was very happy for him because I know that your smile is one of the first things that people see and judge you by.
I would say stick by your nice guy if you knew him longer than you do, but since you don't and your friend is telling you to stay away... I would walk away from potential problems before you have taken even the first step into them.
if you asks you why you are moving away from him (if he asks), tell him the truth. ask him if he knows what is wrong with his teeth, and tell him that you have doubts about were a relationship would go if he can't get help for his teeth because it is something that is important to you (if it is)..
but whatever you decide.. good luck... you're in quite a pickle.

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 6/27/2006 8:48:51 AM | | As my handle suggests...you can imagine what happened to my teeth over the years....I now have a complete smile thanks to partials....one each for the upper and lower...It has been my experience that if you come right out and tell the person you are interested, but need to work on the grin, you might be surprised at the result. See the friend to find out why you should stay clear, but don't forget to give the benefit of the doubt. What stuff looks like and what is the real story are usually very different. Good luck. | |

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 6/27/2006 9:07:49 AM | | Okay I've read through most of these posts. Look when I was a kid I had to have braces- Then I had to have a bridge put in- well about 3 years ago that bridge fell out and I could not afford to have it replaced. Yes, I have a gap in my mouth- granted most people say they don't notice it, but for me it makes me self concious- however i've learned that someone isn't going to judge me completely on that and if they do then i don't want them anyway. I plan on getting it fixed but I dont' do drugs nor have i ever. Just remember that some people can't help not having money to fix cosmetics but as many have said be leary of drug abusers. I would confront him and question him about his teeth. just tell him you think he's a nice guy but because of the poor state of his teeth you were slightly concerned he may have a drug habit and you're not in to that. You may find he's already in the process of trying to get them fix. | |

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 6/27/2006 1:09:23 PM | you know a lot of people have a lot to learn when it comes to teeth my god the generalizations in some of these posts are just dumb.
having said that,.. If you have rotten teeth you should get em fixed because you may not know that an infected tooth and yes even if only one!!!!!!! can cause you to have heart problems, in fact Jerry garcia passed away for just that reason he had one bad tooth and the infection spread to he arteries I believe, so all gross comments aside it is in fact a health issue to go around with holes in your teeth! as far a breath is concerned that is also nonsense, breath whether good or bad has little if anything to do with teeth good or bad, no not all bad teeth gum line or any other tooth issue is indicative of a drug problem [can be] but most often isn't. excess of acid in the saliva is one very common reason for premature malocclusion or rot. jeese people go to school would ya.? or stop posting on a subject that makes you look stupid for your lack of knowledge on the issue.

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 6/29/2006 3:46:40 AM | | The posts are kinda dumb, but what REALLY bothers me here is the fact that some ADULTS are just totally illiterate! What were these people doing when they were in school? Medical problems may be genetic and beyond one's control, but to me, illiteracy is a much bigger turnoff. I can't help but judge someone by their writing. It almost looks like some people just don't care... | |

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 6/29/2006 4:45:26 AM | It is a tough issue, many would say no. Many people don't have money for adequate dental care. You can brush and floss and use every product out there, and watch what you eat. In the end without regular visits a person will most likley get peridontal disease, which eventually leads to decay in the root. I have heard of people who lose thier teeth early due to weak enamel and if they don't have insurance or money to get them fixed...
I think it comes down to how bad his teeth bother you, not what other people think about you dating him.

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 6/29/2006 5:04:18 AM | | First, I applaude you on the fact that you are even considering going out with a guy with rotten teeth. Secondly, in most metropolitan cities, if a person needs dental work, there usually are places for people with little income where they will do dental work practically free. Years ago, I had lost everything in a failed business and discovered one of these places where they filled a couple of cavities. Whether they do major work is questionable, but the waiting room was full of indigent people who I would have guessed had major dental problems from years of neglect. Secondly, I have a friend who has bad teeth. Bad hygiene. We rode together to go eat in his car and it stunk so badly that I could barely breathe. I mentioned it politely and he said he took his dog everywhere in it (that's what it smelled like). But then, his house was a disaster ... dishes piled up and the house stunk. Dog hair literally everywhere. So, I just broke it down to him that if he wanted a girlfriend (his last broke up with him over this issue), then just hire a maid and get it cleaned. I didn't mention his teeth (but he must have noticed me staring at them because you just couldn't help it), and the next thing I noticed was that he announced that he had an appointment with the dentist. So ... the question is: is he an overall very clean person with acceptable hygiene, but just bad teeth? Then ... fix the damn teeth even if you have to go to a cheap clinic or take out a loan. Or, does he just neglect all hygiene? Then it's up to you. My two cents. | |

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 7/5/2006 11:58:52 PM | i had talked to a guy on here for about 6 weeks who posted a good picture of himself on line. he posted about 10 of them and in everyone he wasnt smiling, so i asked him one day, why you never smile in oictures,,,he said he just didnt smile that much. in one of the pics he smiled and he had the most beautiful teeth i had ever seen, well,,,,,,,when we finally met, omg i thought id puke. not only did he look anorexic, which his picture didn not look like, when he talked he had severe teeth issues.im a big one on teeth as well. i believe that if u r a clean healthy man u will have nice teeth. i know there r exceptions to this, but overall thye should be important part of his dailey hygeine genre!!!! he had doctored up his pic.but the truth is that a lot of crack heads do have the teeth that rot in front and close to the gum line, im no dentist but i am a paramedic and ive seen a lot. all the crack heads i have had any dealings with, had really bad teeth,so the message here should be maybe you should ask what happened to his grill!! theres a nice way to do it, but i oersonally wouldnt care, i dont like fat people and i dont like guys with bad teeth, different people like different things, its not wrong to be that way, its just that way. good luck and i hope his name isnt mark!!!!!!! hahaha <<<<<<<<<<<<<< | |

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 7/6/2006 1:47:18 AM | Well, it depends on the reasons why he has bad teeth, he might have a problem with his gums that no matter how often he brushes how healthy he is, the teeth always rot.
The same with overweight people, some over eat because they are lonely and depressed, some eat to get big to avoid romance due to getting hurt and others have a medical problem that prevents them from losing weight no matter what diets they go on.
I have noticed personally that the less physically attractive they are the more nicer they are on the inside, especially the people that have been attractive all their lives, they tend to be big-headed and and think they are gods' gift.

This is my brother your'e talking about so think beforre you speak. (I don't give a damn that he's had dentures since he was 15. His rotten teeth were an allergic reaction to medication)
How much does this guy mean to you? Are you really so shallow that you would dump a quality guy, who had everythign else going for him, over something as petty as rotten teeth.
Or does he mean more to you than that.
IF you are not shallow. IF he does mean more to yo than that, then dig up a good dentist to fix his teeth and you pay the cost as a birthday and crissie present combined.

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 7/8/2006 10:35:18 PM | | This is my two cents, but when I saw the last home game of the Seattle Seaslugs, and the camera showed Paul Allen smiling, I nearly puked. If anyone, and I mean anyone, needs incentive to go see the dentist and/or orthodontist, get a look at billionaire Paul Allen's choppers. That being written, I'm not interested in dating a woman who has rotting meth lab teeth, mine aren't exactly perfect, I have one cavity(my first) and I'd like to get mine whitened. Remember, if you choose to date scary teeth guy, sooner or later he's going to want to get up close and personal with you and play some serious tonsil hockey...... | |

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 7/9/2006 7:17:48 AM | | If you like the guy take the time to find out why his teeth are that way......is it due to lack of hygiene???......is it drugs????......or is it a medical condition and the medication he is taking is causing the problems?.......is it lack of money to get them fixed? Its up to you, but personally if its someone who is on drugs or just doesn't take care of himself.....no, I wouldn't date him | |

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 7/9/2006 7:45:13 AM | I'll just gender reverse this one GENTLMEN
Your new gf , who went in and out in all the right directions, in a bikini. And also went in and out in all the right directions in the sack.
And has just had emergency treatment for breast cancer. And you (well me anyway) couldn't give a damn that she's now one short. You want to continue humping as before.
But the lost breast is leaving her confused, upset, and fridgid. And she can't get it reconstructed under any form of national health cause its consmetic.
And you can aford to finance the re construction.
GENTELMEN who would and who wouldn't re finance.
Same with those teeth. Lady, if you REALLY wanted to kiss him the first thing you would do is discuss the cost of caps with your dentist.

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 7/9/2006 8:26:27 AM | OK I need to add some more if you you folks don't mind.
I have read some more posts in this thread and I must say that one of the gentlemen above made a good point. You need to try to overlook something like this. Try to help him if you care about him, try to establish some way to make this better, get him a good dentist and just be there for him and don't see him for only his teeth alright.!! There is a great person beneath and you should try make an effort to see eneath the ourward and look to his inner charm and personality.

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 7/9/2006 9:21:21 AM | | Listen to your Friend could be a number of reasons for such bad teeth, but I would think the 2 biggest reasons would be bad dental care, he never brushes, in which case he probably doesn't shower on a regular bases either. 2 Drugs , one of the biggest reasons for the teeth to rot. I have met women with some not so straight teeth and some that have yellow stains, and thats not that big of a deal, smoking and Coffee, big contributor to the stains, which I could live with, but rotten no way, usually a good sign they don't take care of themselves.. | |
