| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 10/13/2006 3:39:00 PM | Well i honestly can relate to this one totally, i could tell you a long story but i will choose to make it short. i am 47 had perfect teeth at the age of 21. my mom's insurance was going to run out at 22 so i went to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned. i sat in the chair and the dentist put the cleaner on my teeth, as the nurse called him and told him his girlfriend was on the phone. he excused hisself and went to the next room, the door cracked a tiny bit i could hear them arguing. as i sat i heard a womans voice say "and who is that your girlfriend" well anyway, they started arguing and after about 20 mins or so they were still slamming things around and i heard another woman's voice screaming so now there are 2 women and the Dr. (it was his girlfriend and the wife and the dentist) by now i have been setting in the chair for about an hour at least. now remember this was 26 years ago when cleaning agents were much more abrasive. well to make it a short story it ate the enamel off my teeth. after 21 years of near perfect teeth they have since been falling apart. i have 12 left, am now a nurse, i have dental plan at work and am set to go in and have them pulled and replaced with a set of new dentures in 2 weeks. once again i will have a smile i can be proud of. (*_*)smiles
P.S. as for suing the Dentist he was a single practicing dentist his wife shot and killed him and his girlfriend in the parking lot 2 nights later. so for my teeth i was S.O.L. and as far as going to a a clinic i have tried that also, as for having the $money$ to do it on my own well i am single, i have been rasing 4 children for the last 17 years alone.THAT TAKES ALOT OF $MONEY$. 2 are now 20 and 18 and one turned 11 Oct 7th and her little brother passed away at the young age of 7, 9 days before his 8th birthday in 2005 the 2 older kids are mine from marriage and the 2 younger ones are/were from an aquaintance i met who passed away on the delivery table for 12 minutes then was resusitated and left with a 34 IQ and Physical Disabilities, unable to care for her children. they are/were both special needs children that DHS was going to Split up to adoption. since they had no Father i simply signed as there Father for Paternity. so you tell me is the teeth what mans a man or is what his lifes accomplishments.
Still Smiling with Missing Teeth ...... Thom i hope you all have an AWESOME DAY and think about this for at least 30 seconds. BE THANKFUL FOR WHAT YOU HAVE, IT CAN ALL CHANGE IN THE BEAT OF A HEART. (*_*)smiles DocAUDIOthom/2006

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 10/13/2006 4:11:41 PM | | I am not superficial at all....but That is a tough one! Cause that may say a lot about his hygiene, and he may not keep his body stank free either! PS.....Pop a breath mint in your mouth and when you kiss him, OOPS, my breath mint just went in your mouth, clumsy me! lmao | |

Posted: 10/15/2006 9:35:56 AM | | I think you are all missing the point here, the guy misrepresented hiself, he should have been up front and told her all about his bad teeth before they met and he should have shown them in his pictures, then she could have decided if she even wanted to methim any man that misrepresents his self deserves to get kicked to the curb!!!!!!

Then you whine about why this person does this to you or that person does something else. You whine about the way people treat you in your relationships but yet you look for love in all the wrong ways. It's not about what's on the outside of a person. You can cover a turd a make it pretty, but it still is and always will be a turd on the inside.

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 11/17/2006 10:32:32 AM | OP that is funny! True it might seem a bit superficial, but at the same time, it shows that this guy doesn't give a damn about his health or personal hygiene!! That is nasty! Oh man, his breath must staank badly! lol | |

you are 27 so I am assuming the guy is close to your age which makes it strange to have that problem at this age even if he doesn't brush his teeth. make sure he is not doing crack cocaine. crack and some other drugs can cuase teeth to decay the way you describe it.
I'm a brush-a-holic and I go overboard with brushing my teeth. My fiance thinks it is cute that I brush about 5 times as long as he does. But, by the time I was 18, my teeth were pretty much destroyed. It seems weird- I love dairy products and get far more calcium than I need. I don't eat refined sugar and am careful with natural sugars. I always brush after meals and never, ever snack in between. I definitely don't do drugs or smoke. I don't even drink tea or coffee. Not many people are as meticulous as I am, and I should have model teeth. Now at 28, I still have my teeth but they chip easily and nearly every one of them has at least one filling.
Sometimes people have dental issues beyond their control. There are genetic problems, health issues, etc. I have had three dentists tell me they were shocked by my fluorosis. (Getting too much fluoride actually damages your teeth and my elementary school in the 80's used to force us to do biweekly fluoride treatments. In addition to that, I drank nothing but tap water as a kid and most cities add extra fluoride to their water. Add all that exposure to the fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash I used, and it destroyed my teeth.) Fortunately, I have tried to keep on top of it, so I don't look like a mountain town hobo with big gaps, but I do have moderate discoloration.
It is really embarassing to think that some ignorant people may notice my teeth and blame me for a lack of hygiene!

Think of it this way; HE has to know his teeth are bad, yet chooses to do nothing about it. YOU know his teeth are bad and that he has chosen not to do anything about it. Imagine kissing him! Don't settle for sub-standard grooming habits.

Talk to your friend and you can talk with the guy in public places for now- getting to know him. Maybe that in itself will be enough. If by chance you lost your vision, what would think of him then or he you for that matter. old saying- don't judge a book by its cover- read the fine print instead.... All the best.

NOT necessarily. Some people simply can't afford to get their teeth fixed. Mine were all messed up due to an abusive relationship (yeah, that's another thread LOL), was NOT my choice to have my teeth shattered beyond repair, nor was it my choice to be hospitalised so much and so long after I had my teeth removed that the dentist refused to fix the dentures he made me which were all wrong. Insurance won't do a thing either. Come March I believe it is I can get a new set but I certainly don't have the $500+ to get them on my own!
Don't be so quick to judge people. Yes it could be drugs, could be a ton of things and yeah, kissing a guy with horrid breath isn't my cup of tea either. Big Red or Dentyne help some

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 11/25/2006 1:40:42 PM | What happened to [ I was horrified...here comes another dilemna]...your lifetime friend is telling you to stay away from him and she lived across the street from him for how long??? All of her life and she's never dated Mr. Nice w/ bad teeth. How much value do you place on your friends advice and how desperate are you to find out why his teeth are rotting. I'd be more concerned with why your friend warned you not to get involved with him...maybe because she's your friend! | |

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 11/26/2006 6:54:18 AM | | Its all a part of the attraction factor, I would find bad teeth extremely unattractive and wouldn't be able to handle it. | |
|
| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 11/26/2006 7:07:15 AM | | Just because he has bad teeth dosen't mean he is a loser. Then again, it could mean he dosen't care about keeping himself looking well. Or maybe he dosen't have the money to get his teeth fixed. The point is, you need to find out for yourself, if you really want to get to know him. | |

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 11/26/2006 9:36:40 AM | | I am on board with uonlylive1ce with their comment, I dated and lived with a guy who's teeth were not so attractive, just like you describe! I chose to look past it and after a few months he decided to get false teeth...he was 29, after almost a year passed and his behavior became irratic, violent and very scary, finally the truth came out about how his teeth became that way to begin with. CRACK...I'd ask your friend who told you to stay away from him exactly why, maybe she's a little more up to date with his extra curricular activities and you definately don't want to get involved with someone using a drug like that. That drug among many others makes good sensible loving people evil. Take it from someone who's looked past the bad teeth....I know they are just teeth but BE CAREFUL! | |

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 11/26/2006 2:25:17 PM | Yeah that's a shame i had this phobia of dentistry kept me away from the dentist for about 10 through 15 years
Well i finally went and it cost me close to two grand to fix the deep cleaning and five cavities Oh and of course cleaning the pearly whites
Back in business and it all had to do with this cute little dental assistant from Texas

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 11/26/2006 3:06:25 PM | I say see if the guy is gonna look after his teeth * get them fixed or dentures *. Maybe at the moment he is in the process or maybe out of work & can't afford it * could be a good reason behind it*. But what if you don't bother with him * if he's as nice as you say he is * and he ends up with a lady & his teeth are all looked after. You might be kicking yourself in the ass. It's not that easy to find a real nice guy these day's they are far & few. But it's up to you to decide. But go with how you feel about it. | |

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 11/26/2006 5:56:33 PM | I could not date a man with bad teeth unless I saw his calender and "get my teeth fixed" was clearly penciled in for the upcoming week. I had a HUGE crush on this guy where I used to work. Blushed when he walked by, butterflies in the stomach, the whole deal...he ended up asking me out months after I quit working there and it was the first time I saw him REALLY up close. Long story short, he smiled and it was a heavy dose of Attraction-be-gone. Brown teeth can do that to ya. | |

| Met a nice guy who has bad teeth... Posted: 11/26/2006 7:45:32 PM | Ew! No way... bad oral hygeine is a definite deal breaker, I don't care how sweet or nice the guy is/seems.
Bottom line, if he has rotting teeth, there is no way that I would ever want to kiss him. And if I am considering dating a person, I am considering kissing them.
