I will be missing the buskers this year....it was not in the cards for me to be down there this weekend and it doesn't look good for me this week. Oh well, I didn't go to see them last year either.

I think they're a bunch of begging travelling gypsies who don't know when to keep their traps shut, here's my story:

A few years ago, was down there watching the acts, one of these acts in particular was really entertaining that after his show I threw a $10 bill into his case. Stupid moron says to me in a tone I didn't like... "$10 !! Is that all you're gonna give me??"

You should've seen the look on his face when I bent down and took my $10 bill back and said, "with THAT said busker, I thank YOU for paying me my 10 bucks back for wasting my time on you" and walked.

and I seen this sort of attitude from a few of them that night, turned me right off from seeing them ever again.

I cant talk about the past, but i have met almost all of them on a personal level this year. I find it hard to believe that attitude is displayed this year, after talking to them all. If it is, i would love to know any acts that would say something along those lines. Because truly it wouldnt be cool......

I've enjoyed them all this year and enjoyed also conversing with them.

Ya Peter Rocks

I highly suggest to anyone going down for the day, to get a program. They cost 2 dollars, but they really put all the info into your hands. The acts and all the showtimes and stages. Maybe not needed if your only going down for an hour or so. But if you go down for the day, it can really help you go to the right spots to get a good seat for the next show. Obviously you can use it for the rest of the festival.

Highlights for me, so far...

Peter Rabbit
Squid
Indiijika
Jeff Bradley
ABS crew
Les Walkyries
Fasthorses

I was there Saturday, in between the rain drops and had a blast.

Only seen 2 acts but going again this week. I will get a program and hope to see some of the ones you suggested. Helps cut it down a bit and not waiste time of others.

They were talking last year about not having them here again due to how much it costs the city. So I was surprised when I only heard last week they were going to be here.

I hope they continue because it is a great time for adults and nice to take your children out to see them to. Just have lots and lots of money ready with the kids in tow, hahahah

went on Sunday - we never miss a year to go to buskers

I liked the skate boarder guy ???? - he was funny and skateboarded through a star shaped huge ring of fire.

Anybody notice the new twist on pushing for the cash this year? The talent actually gives the child they pull out of the audience to help $5 bucks cash for helping.

Yeah. They're also pushing CD/DVDs for 20-25 bucks. I don't go every year so that might not be new.

A cool story...because yes, theres always cool stories.

I'm watching Peter Rabbits show. He says hes going to have a contest. So he grabs three people out of the audience, a roughly 20 yr old man, and a roughly 20 yr old woman. Then he grabs a 8 or 9 yr old kid. They will all try there hand at the playing of buckets as drums. So the gal and guy do there thing. then its time for this young boy to show his stuff. He was from waverly. So the boy very confidently grabs the drumsticks from Peter, sits down and starts twirling the sticks, needless to say. The boy was quite a showman. Loving the spotlight and devouring every moment in it. So Peter holds his hands over each of the contestants heads. Of course the boy gets the loudest response.

So Peter asks him, What do you think a fair amount is that you should be given for winning?

The boy ever so confident says....and to quote....

20 dollars sir and thank you

Needless to say he was given the 20 dollars.

And one more....cause truly theres many i could tell. Last night at the fire show. when it was all over. A young girl comes up to one fire performer. Tears in her eyes, saying she loved it sooooooooooo much. Sincere and honest, it has to have come from a child.

I went down there to kill some time one afternoon this week, I said I wouldn't go but I did.

That Silver Elvis guy was kinda cool

The three amazon chicks chucking fire and swords around was funny

The guy busting out of the straight jacket was annoying as hell

The guy who says nothing and picks on the crowd, giving out candy was hilarious

Watched Tic and Tac last Sunday. Entertaining but they threw out quite a few racial stereotypes. Why is that when African-Canadians (assuming Canadian) throw out racial slurs people find it funny but if a caucasian did it people would be appalled. Is that a double standard??

Wasn't there supposed to be another fire show tonite? My friends and I walked by Parade Square but there was just a fireman up in the rescue bucket for charity. I actually saw the fire truck this afternoon when I was walking home from work.. I thought it was curious that they were getting ready for "whatever" may happen so early. *shrug* I'm sure if I wasn't in a hurry to the bus home we would have found it just around the next corner. Story of my life.

Aliant Stage... Right up from the Big Wave statue thingy and the tugboat playground. If you were in the area, you couldn't miss it, as it was the only performance on at the time (11-12)
