1) Pay off all credit card bills and tear them up.
2) Buy a nice place to live.
3) Set aside some for children's colleges.
4) Donate to a charitable organization.
5) Invest, invest, invest.

Posted: 9/15/2008 8:48:52 PM | Yep, it would depend upon the amount won, but based on the fantasy that it would be mega-millions ( ) I would do a few of the following:
Give money to all of my family members;
Donate to a few needy causes (animal rescues, childrens' charities, homeless shelters, Habitat for Humanity);
Buy an old Victorian house in the countryside with substantial acreage;
Travel to a few places I've wanted to see (England, Scotland, France, Australia);
Create a no-kill shelter and work with local vets to have animals neutered/spayed before placing them in homes...and give permanent homes to those who are considered 'unadoptable'
Those would be a few things on my list.
(Oh yeah, and I'd finally get that pony I'd always asked for at Christmastime but never got...apparently he was too heavy for Santa's sleigh...:P) | |

With my share, I would build my dream Earthship somewhere on the Big Island, settle down and raise bees.
But before I left town, I would go to the manager of the mobile home park where I live and I would pay up the space fees on all the folks who were behind and for those who were current, I'd pay the next month's fee for them. | |

Posted: 9/16/2008 3:26:55 PM | I'd get a bus and remodel it so it has a bed and a desk for my art. I'd paint the outside and put lanterns in the windows. And I'd live in it so I can wake up wherever I want to in the morning. Any city, any backdrop. . .anywhere. I'd perhaps work a little in each city and save that to go to other countries around the world. And just maybe, for if I ever decide to settle, I would have a house I would rent out while I'm gone.
I'd take homeless people out to lunch and listen to their stories.
I might start a business.
I would take care of him, too, wherever he is. | |

Posted: 9/17/2008 9:02:33 AM | I would buy enough land to build homes for my sisters & mom....& eventually my sons...we'd all have our privacy, but still be together....I'd have an entertainment center in the middle of it for everyone....with a pool, basketball court, tennis, billards & game room, etc...we'd have stables with horses....I'd have my purple 69 firebird...sitting along side my lambo...lol...
I'd put my kids in good schools...
I'd start a business we could all run, something that would be sure to keep money rolling in for future generations & something we enjoyed...
we'd travel the world...I'd get to see the pyramids...
I'd find other single moms, who need help getting on their feet & I'd help them...
I'd build a place where children with cleft palates & other deformities could meet other children like them...& hook them up with medical care, if they can't afford it...
I'd start a good shelter for homeless animals...
I would'a flown to Texas for Ozzfest this year...lol... | |

I would have to buy a ticket for space travel. Get on board one of those space flights. They can cost up to 250K at the moment and would have to wait many years before those prices came down. So I would jump aboard right way.

If I won enough, then every once in a while I might give someone who truly deserves it enough to make a real difference in their lives. I guess I'd fix broken lives and make dreams come true. Something life-changing, not just enough to tide them over for a while only to end up right back in the same situation.
I don't take much to exist on and have never aspired to be among the idle rich. | |

I'm retired but when I did work the only time I bought a ticket is when I have a dollar bill in my pocket that was ready for the trash bin!
To be happy and have peace of mind is my lottery ticket and when you plan and preserver happiness will follow but it takes work! omfg
Which is earned and then come Friday its in the bank! Work is a lottery ticket that always wins! imo like love I would rather earn it and know that it was more then just luck!

If it was a huge amount of money (over $50 million), I'd want to have a program set up for those who need dental care. It wouldn't be a "freebie" - they'd have to write an essay as to why they want the make-over. It seems strange - but I remember back in the days when my teeth were so bucked (I couldn't chew with my mouth closed), and kids made fun of me in school. In fact, my name was "Bucky". One of the first things we notice about a person is their smile, their teeth. I would also donate and do volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity and some animal organizations. I'd have my winter home in Belize, and summer home around Vancouver Island. Naturally, I'd travel the world and blog about it. Family would be gifted $10,000/year so they wouldn't have to pay income tax. | |
