| Moving to MI! Posted: 10/3/2006 6:06:05 PM | | Good luck to ya. It seems as tho the Great lakes as far as work goes is getting dry, thanks to our government and over seas outsourcing. Even new construction on housing has slowed down. Automotive has changed due to letting foreign companies camp in our back yard. Price of gas and oil has tampered our life stile. I'm sure you will find some thing but not as good as you will like. As far as Jackson goes, I couldn't' tell ya. It's rough all over. | |

But I am sure you will find something and housing is almost rock bottom ........... so I am sure you will something. Not from that area. Asked an online friend for you who lives in Jackson. He said Jackson has a lot of Japanese Industial Plants .. TAC and MACI ........ good luck and welcome to Michigan.

It is depressed as far as economics is cocerned, a lot of deals, in real estate. but the realtors themselves are down as much as 75 per cent from last year. There are a lot of good people here, of course there are penty of the other kind also. well contentment is from within your self! And needing to be someplace else is noncontent?

| Moving to MI! Posted: 10/4/2006 9:55:58 AM | There's a couple things to think about before you move to Michigan.
Right now a lot of people here have already told you "your nuts" "run while you still can"
Realize that Michigan's economy is totally intertwined with Ford, GM, Chrysler. When those companies go in the toilet so does the rest of the state. Thats why right now finding a job in Michgan is brutal because of some 100,000 lay-offs and buy-outs. Worse still is that there's more to come.
Now being you do custom cars and bikes you can probably find shops like that just about anywhere. Now I cant and wont bad-mouth Jackson or the west side of the state because I dont live there. I live on the east side. You might want to look into Ann Arbor and some of the surburban areas in Oakland and Livingston counties. A lot of big money so called "affluent" areas where people have the money for expensive toys...AND NOO Im not saying the west side or jackson doesnt have that. If you have to move to Michigan...do your research and dont hesitate to talk to someone here...if you can wait...please do...at least until the governor election is over with and we get an idea of whose runnin the show and which way michigan is headed.
Aside from the job market...you'll love michigan. Beautiful scenery all around, plenty of lakes anywhere you look...including the great lakes themselves, good food, 4 major sports teams, and no lack of night life or entertainment. Good Luck man.

Let alone, when I say I'm from out of state, that really doesn't help the MI economy. Kinda like outsourcing. If they can find someone there to do the same job that I apply for, I'm sure they get dibs before me.

I thought it was nice too and was like why did I ever move away from here. Then I moved back here and couldn't find a job for 6 months. Don't do it... its cold too lol
