| Boomers June 17th Party Pix Posted: 6/19/2006 11:58:57 AM | After careful concideration I have decided that I will in fact, host another party. Even the 'bad' publicity that has been brought on by this one is good. I am actually starting to get a kick out of all of this so please do tell all of your friends how the party was wild and that there was even a bit of nudity! *insert shocked smiley here* Chances are, that at the next event I host, there will be a wet tshirt contest, a wet willy contest AND of course, karaoke! Perhaps there will even be some people dancing on the tables! :O :O OH NO! NOT TABLE DANCING!!!! *sarcasometer soars* And dont you all worry your pretty little heads, I WILL post on the main page that such events will be taking place so next time, as I have said in the forums about THIS party that just took place, CHECK YOUR MODESTY AT THE DOOR!
Cheers, your gracious host, HSA

| Boomers June 17th Party Pix Posted: 6/19/2006 12:18:16 PM | That a girl..Dont take any of the complaining to heart!! If people dont have a good time its often there own faults... If they caint find someone to talk to leave and go to another party or bar. Lets face it some people do attend these events thinking that they are gunna find that certain someone and spend the night patrolling the party in effort to find him or her. Disapointment often comes when we raise the bar too high.. I've been to a wack of these parties , my friends and i always make a good time of it. Some are better then others. Some people meet more interesting people then others. Its a fact. I dont think it is worthwile to post complaints about a party on here. Bottom line have agood time at these events, relax, dotn take everything so seriously, be patient.... OR JUST STAY HOME!!!! Regards TheRealDeal1 | |

| Boomers June 17th Party Pix Posted: 6/19/2006 12:36:26 PM | FYI... From my experience at singing Karaoke......newbes always get put to the top of the list after the rotations.....hosts and friends of the host are not usually ahead of the newbie singers......and if a CD messes up, skips or stops while a singer is singing then the song is restarted for the singer to do again. @brianm....your post didn't sound like a complaint to me.
I had a great time at the party....I love to sing, dance, hang with ma friends and make new friends. I can shake off almost anything that might make me ticked. I'm learning from the posts what to do and what not to do, if I ever host a party. Its a learning curve Habs, don't be on the offensive...no one is attacking you personally.

| Boomers June 17th Party Pix Posted: 6/19/2006 1:03:51 PM | I didn't attend the Hamilton party, but after reading this entire thread, I almost feel like I was! ha!
I think it's great to have variety when it comes to these parties, so whoever might want to attend, can have a little choice in terms of what kind of crowd and activities they'd like to partake in...
That being said, the search for attention by some is usually fairly high at these functions to begin with, but if you want to include activities like wet t-shirt contests or table dancing to feed that, all the power to you! Would I ever participate? God no! First off, I wouldn't force anyone to witness such a sight! ha! Second, it IS possible to be modest and still have a great time. I would much rather leave a party with a bit of class still left to my name.
For those who feel the need to get that kind of attention, go for it. It kind of makes me sad for those people who want to be perceived in that way or think that exemplifies fun, but whatever... To each their own...

| Boomers June 17th Party Pix Posted: 6/19/2006 1:13:27 PM | Yikes - again a new person has had the courage to voice their honest assessment and been kicked around for it. Lizz is right - new singers go to the top of the list - nobody should be told they won't get a chance or will be waiting forever, people who go to karaoke regularly know that the newbies get put into the rotation ahead of those who have already had a chance to sing. Habs - you need to give it a rest my dear - nobody is saying you did a bad job - you are taking everything so negatively. All the "complainers" are doing is making suggestions for next time so more people have fun. Especially the newcomers as they don't have the personal connections with the crowd that people who have been around longer do.
For the record - the wet t-shirt contest was no big deal - the naked boobs after the contest ended were a bit much.
Wet willies - whatever floats your boat - go ahead.
Lock N Key - it was promoted - people expected it - it didn't happen - don't say nobody was interested - the fact was the tools for the game were not available - which is fine - but honesty is the best policy.
When you host a party there will be people who love it, people who are indifferent and people who don't enjoy it. C'est La Vie - but you have to be willing to hear everyone's comments in hope of having a better event the next time around.
I have run many events - and in the end you get positive comments and complaints - that is life. Roll with the punches, revel in the glamour and don't take it personally. People had a good time - that is great - some people didn't - what can be done to take their concerns into consideration and make the next event even better?

Good Job to all for hosting, planning, and great Job for everyone showing up and supporting the this site and all it has to offer, which is way more than other sites you pay for..

| Boomers June 17th Party Pix Posted: 6/19/2006 2:14:45 PM | For those of you that came to my defense, thanks so much!
Habs, I really wasn't criticising you specifically. I just shared my experience.
If people had a great time, great! But what you'll find in life is that you tend to hear more often about the negatives than the positives. That's just human nature.
Have you ever been on a cruise or went to a restaurant and were poorly treated ? Chances are you mentioned it or wrote a letter ! People don't write letters praising as often as they write to complain or mention negativity. Criticism sucks, It really does when you work hard to make something work. It's not like you gained financially for organizing this activity. Damn, I don't think I would be so giving with MY time, but it's never going to be perfect for everyone and forums are where you're gonna hear it, good or bad. It still is great that people like you are trying to make something fun for others.
My world is MY oyster and if I didn't enjoy myself, that's MY problem. I won't be blaming anyone for it.
Now get off your butt and plan a better one!

| Boomers June 17th Party Pix Posted: 6/20/2006 2:01:31 AM | Well here goes. I was going to keep my mouth shut for once, but thought why bother no one else is.
Amie, you did a fantastic job! You took the time to ensure that people without rides found them, made an effort to mingle and get anyone who wanted to participate involved, and the list goes on and on and on and I think you get the drift!
I can say, I didn't go to "pick up" so to speak. All of us that drove over an hour to attend this party came to what we viewed as a "gathering of friends". We had such a blast last time and wanted to come back to do it all over again. And let me tell you, it was worth the drive!
I have to admit the wet t thing was a bit much for me, so I backed out and didn't receive any flack for the choice that I made. Those who chose to expose themselves made a choice on their own accord to do so and at no time were forced. Those who complained who made no effort to step outside for some fresh air, or join in really should keep their comments to themselves. The girls who did actually go up and do it, had courage! It wasn't easy for all of them, but for the sake of saying if you can't beat em, join em, they did.
I noticed some of the complainers were some of the ones that didn't really get off their chair, join in, or even smile for that matter. I have to admit, a number of the songs sung I had never heard before. But again, those singers got up there and gave it their all and thanks, cause it sure made the night much more enjoyable. Mario did a bang up job at spinning those discs and trying to accomodate everyone he could. I have to admit he actually made me cry when he sang "I will always love you" and it was awesome. I was afraid you were still blinded at that point, sorry man.
I think those of us who wish to get together in a similar setting should. As for the rest, you need to find what works for you. Try a coffee night thang or the camping thang. Do whats best for you.
We have met so many wonderful people at Boomer's POF parties and hope to get together again soon and hopefully meet many more!
Thanks to Habs suck azz, Hamilton Chicky, Mario, Dave, QT, the brave souls who were willing to step out of their comfort zone to provide some entertainment, the staff at Boomer's, and all of those who made this evening a blast!
