I am a natural brunette. My stylist said, hey honey, let's make you a blonde and guess what, I've had more attention as a blonde and more proposals as a blonde in a couple of years than I did in my entire life as a brunette but what does it matter? I have the same mind. If I were to pick up on the possibility that I was in the company of a man that was so shallow that my hair color was actually of any importance to a potential lifetime relationship with him, I'd be out the door in 5 seconds flat. I want a guy that has substance, intelligence, true feelings. This is simply nonsense..no offence to anyone, but I'm so tired of trivial dribble in regards to predjudice of any kind towards any human being. It just simply promotes more ignorance and unfounded beliefs based on unimportant things like hair or skin color. Did you know that ALL hair is actually red? It starts out from the lightest shade which is blonde or even white and go's to the darkest black. The only hair color that is not red is a certain polonesian that has a blue color to the black shade...so in all reality, most everyone has the same color of hair. It's just different shades of red. | |

Now, I have a sort of ashen light brown colour mixed in with each and every earned GREY hair!
We have been totally ignored in this whole thread!
And most of you will become grey haired at a later point in your life...
BTW Carrie B, you are one funny woman!

How friggin' difficult is that to understand?? How stupid does someone have to be to see a blonde, brunette, or redhead and automatically think he/she knows how that person is like?? Or what they're into?? Or the lifestyle they lead??
Wow, the idiocy of some humans is quite disturbing.
I'm blonde. I'm not high maintenance. I'm extrememly family oriented. I'm not a money-hungry golddigger. I'm not easy. I'm down-to-earth. And so forth.
God, these damn stereotypes make me hurl, and I can't believe some people actually believe them!

Errmm, yeah, I'd say the OP is about on. Sure plenty of guys like or prefer blondes too though. But yeah, I'd say more like brunettes. Of course it depends on a lot more than that (and more than looks too), but if we're talking purely about looks, all else being equal 'd count myself as a gentleman who prefers brunettes. I go for redheads too, and likewise it's not like I've never found a blonde highly attractive. For me I think it is about contrast... light skin and dark hair. Another thing I'll say is that with different hair colors, I find myself drawn to different facial features and such as well- for instance, I prefer brown or hazel eyes and a rounder face on a brunette... on a blond or redhead it's blue or green eyes, and while a rounder face is still good, a narrower face can also be good... that sort of thing.
Overall I think it's just that every person has their personal preferences, but it's hard wired genetically such that the majority fall within a certain portion of the curve in their preferences. Just like the "average" woman likes tall dark and handsome, but there are still plenty who go ga-ga over guys with blonde or red hair, and some require tall while others don't care too much about height. | |

Posted: 6/21/2006 5:42:53 PM | I think a lot of guys prefer brunettes because too many blondes are "bottle blonds". For most brunettes, it's their natural hair colour. I like the natural look, or at least a colour that is tastefully chosen and kept up. Nothing worse than different colour roots showing....
That all being said, hair colour is pretty far down on the list of things I consider. I'm only 26 and starting to go gray myself, so who am I to judge others.  | |

I think that Kaos hit the nail on the head when she said trying to conform to what you hope is going to draw the guy you think you'de like is silly. Be what hair colour YOU like. Guys should like you for who you are, the hair thing is a much lower priority than many other factors about a woman. For the record I prefer blondes. ( But since I have met so many nice ladies of all hair colours I am not going to feel any differently about a woman I hit it off with if she is non-blonde! )
I have dated all sorts of hair colours and no matter what, a good woman is a good woman. If she was a pain in the butt it certainly did not come from her hair colour or from a bottle of Loreal ( or whatever brand ).
And just a few facts to clear up something that another person posted to you. Blonde hairs in general are much finer ( thinner/smaller diameter ) than all other hair colours. So that's a crock that she has finer hair since brunette folicals tend to be thicker. Also blondes average 250,000 - 700,000 more hair folicals than brunettes. It's a basic biological fact. ( Not that this amounts to squat in this whole silly topic ).
Also an obscure weird fact about that word. It is the ONLY native English word that is gender specific with regard to the spelling. The "e" on the end is indicative of women. Hence a lady is "Blonde" and a man is "Blond".
So anyway, I like blondes, but I would be a little curious about a girl who dyed her hair just to get my attention. ( Flattering, yes,... but a bit strange ) She should be able to get my attention on so many other levels than the colour of her hair. Have a good one!

Why brunettes? My guess is that may be that men are more comfortable with a hair color that reminds them of family. And since most men's hair color is darker, it should follow.
Why not blondes? Hmmm, I'm not too experienced, but every waiter, bartender, and loose dude flirts with them. Its probably my own fault for being average looking (maybe ugly, lol, who rated me a 3!!!), but its still uncomfortable.
