Posted: 6/23/2006 10:12:15 PM | So far, these answers have been interesting. I could do without those guys though who just write "this is a stupid post." Umm, you've never experienced this guys, so you have no place to judge.
I can see if a guy prefers a brunette because of what some where saying about the contrast on the lighter skin and those asthetic things, but the people who won't dates blondes because they say ALL are dumb sluts and ALL brunettes are sweet, mysterious, smart and family oriented, are just PLAIN RIDICULOUS! I totally agree with jazmilla and others who stated this. It is just like racism, but with hair. it would be just like saying something awful like, "Oh, I only date white girls because they are ALL smart and never a black woman because they are ALL partiers" or something ridiculous like that. It's so sad that guys will judge a woman's personality based on something as superficial as her hair color. I live in So Cal and there are a lot of dumb, slutty bleach blondes here, but guess what? There are a lot of dumb slutty brunettes here too. You just see more women with bad bleach jobs and black roots at the bars here, so I think they give us real blondes a bad name.
The people who think they know a woman's personality based on hair color really do need to wake up, grow up and see what they are doing is just plain stupid and wrong. | |

When I was younger blondes really caught my eye and they still do. However, as I've matured I have become quite enamored with darker hair. Perhaps it was because blonde does not run in my family that it has attracted me so. This change in my thinking has nothing to do with stereotypes, rather it is a maturing of myself and now I see true beauty where before I didn't.
I did not mention redheads because as a young male the only one or two that I knew had freckles and I was too immature to appreciate their beauty. I believe it was Jamie Rose on Falcon Crest back in the early '80s that changed my thinking on that. Redheads are still very rare around these parts. I know one through work and she fits the firery stereotype and will tell a person that she does. That said, I've known other firery women regardless of hair color.
The "bottle blonde" phenomenom always piqued my curiosity. So it has been interesting to read the posts from women that have gone this route and related their experiences.
I've known some guys for whom blonde was not enough--they want the natural blonde--blonde eyebrows, blonde roots, and, yes, blonde everywhere else.
We men seem to be wired to be very visual. We have also been taught certain stereotypes all of our lives either through our peers or through a lifetime of being marketed to. Maturity is when we can overcome those obstacles. | |

Also, I would be alittle concerened that you are dying your hair red just because you think that's what most guys like. Seems to be a bigger issue that needs to be addressed, if that is the reason you are dying your hair.
I mean, what if you heard or read that guys like green hair more. Would you dye your hair green?
I say dye your hair the color you want that makes you happy. Not to impress guys you don't even know because of what you think most guys are attracted too.

I wish I could be politically correct and say I like both just the same,but I do have a slight preference for brunettes but dont like dry and frizzy so its not just color its texture also.
Dont care if its curly or straight but I like the kinda moist look.
I guess the reason I like brunettes is because I was born a blond although its turned kinda brown over the years.
I think its natural selection to be attracted to someone that looks very different ,I guess its natures way of strengthening the gene pool.
That being said I would rather date a blond with a sweet personality any day over a ****y brunette,so personality matters the most .
If you are blond or have red hair please dont change the color ,dont worry about my or anyone elses preference ,being proud of who you are and not changing is also very sexy.
Anyway i said SLIGHT preference ,Its not that big of a deal compared to who you are on the inside. | |

"blondes have more fun" ... it seems that a huge percentage of women that weren't natural blondes went and dyed their hair. And alot of THEM had to bleach it cuz they were going from such a dark color. JMO
My natural color is this icky brown.... I think my hairstylist called is ash something or other. I don't like the way I look with it. It kind of makes me look sickly. About 15 years ago I started getting my hair dyed red.... and I've had it all different shades of red...lol. The red coloring just goes more naturally with my skin and eye color. At the moment I'm hooked on a color called dark intense red. It's kind of like red wine. But who knows..... I may change it next time.....lol.
MY generalization would be more like... why do most men like women with long hair?? Some of us just flat out do NOT look good with long hair. Give us short haired women a chance!!! lololol Hey..... I like MEN with long hair but I won't pass up a good guy with short hair ;-)

perhaps because most of the time it's the blondes getting all the attention?
yes, how very refreshing to be talking about actually preferring brunettes.
i thought we were saddled with the "smart but not sexy" stereotype. and since i know i'm smart, i've always been pissed about the sexy part.
so, anyway, this thread is certainly fun for me.

Yeah, it is good news for you, but not for me. And to answer a couple others, yeah, I originally dyed my hair red to get more guys to pay attention to me (since they kept telling me how much they hated blondes), but now I actually like having it red. Sort of feel like I'm living a lie though, lol. It would be cool to try a dark burgendy, but seeing that with light blond roots might not be too attractive. I wish there were no such thing as bleach. Not only does it look bad when women bleach their hair, but the bleached ones ruin it for us natural ones. I've actually met several natural blondes like myself who have said the same things as me and have dyed their hair brown or red as a result. Pretty sad it's had to come to that for us real blondes. | |

my girl has long, dark curly hair that boarders on black, but pale porcelain skin. i think it's the most gorgeous combo. but to each their own.
