James IV of Scotland From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search James IV (March 17, 1473-September 9, 1513) - King of Scots from 1488 to 1513.
The son of King James III and Margaret of Denmark, he was probably born in Stirling Castle. When his father was killed at the Battle of Sauchieburn on June 11, 1488 (or possibly assassinated a few hours later) the fifteen-year-old James took the throne and was crowned at Scone, Perthshire on June 24.

not the use of the word "probably"
semantics my dear Soxxy?
|
| Bagpipes! Posted: 6/21/2006 2:25:13 PM | I always thought that the King James bible was authorised by James the 6th of Scotland, who was also James the First of England. In which case, Soxx, you are talking about the wrong man.

You doubt the word of Wikipedia?
Besides, Willow has the wrong birthdate completely. I suggest that you stick to matters of the law as history obviously isn't your strong point!

| |
|
| Bagpipes! Posted: 6/21/2006 2:48:32 PM | I only introduced the Bible because somebody was saying about thees and thous and thines, and how somebody scottish or english, can't remember which, had got rid of them.
And as there were lots of thees and thines and thous in the KJV of the Bible, then I thought depending on whether King James was Scottish or English, would clarify who got rid of the thes and thines and thous.
And just to keep it on topic, I asked if he played the bagpipes.

| Bagpipes! Posted: 6/21/2006 2:48:40 PM | Soxxy....please refer to the abovementioned msg 82...refrerring to a post that you made and that included the word "probably"....i was making reference to the use of the word "PROBABLY"...i do not recall mentioning Willow in my post...as it was directed at you.
now as for this little matter of me sticking to matters of the law, as history isnt my strong point.....again, refer back to my msg...pointing out the use of the word "PROBABALY"....i do not think that i attempted, in any way to become a history officianado....
in conclusion....my post referred to Wikky poos use of the word "PROBABLY"...which means, that even they ( alleged super info people) are not certain of where he was born.
OT....i will play the bagpipes tomorrow....errr....yeah
MSG 97....SOXXY....i am 21...whats your excuse??

| Bagpipes! Posted: 6/21/2006 2:50:19 PM | .................... yeah - anyway, back to bagpipes.......
there are many variations of this instrument of humble origin, and I had the pleasure of attempting to play some of them. The Spanish ones have only 2 drones and a small chanter, so that a piper with my lung capacity would be able to blow them with my nostrils! The euillean pipes ( the Irish bellows ones) don't have a mouth piece, just a bellows under the right elbow which sends air to the bag which is under the left elbow, which then sends a continous flow of air to the many little drones and chanter.. Easy peasy pipes them.
The Great Highland Bagpipe though didn't just appear on Scottish soil. There's a current trend of thought, based on historical fact, that they were imported from a family from Italy from Cremona. It's known fact that all Mediterranean countries have their own version of the pipes, which were created by the sheep herders - shepherds. This family from Cremona had childfen, obviously and like family name prefixes, the word Mac, meaning 'son of' though I will stand corrected, then became Mac Crimmon (son of the Cremona) sounds logical doesn't it?
Whatever.. they are damned hard to master, and anyone who manages to play them to a standard deserves admiration ( especially kids). I belive in Scotland, kids with athsma will often be told to join a pipe band, because the blowing strengthens the lungs and can often cure them of their illness.

You make comments which are incorrect, you make accusations that are baseless, you deliberately mis-read and misunderstand posts, you ignore your own comments when we demonstrate that you are talking nonsense, and continually insult everyone's intelligence.
Enough!! | |
