So I was just asked in a private message why I need one.
I responded: need?
How about chose?

note: I am not actually posting the email ;-)

I post a daily quote on my profile

hmmm...I am a nurse, and let me tell you, there a few nastier things to see on people than a tattoo when they are 80.

That is a pretty silly reason not to do what you want when you are young.

Ok I can decipher most of that but what the heck is this: now self amp. is really a personal thing
In addition- looking after when they are 80 +
That's funny
I doubt I'll give a s.hit what my back looks like when I'm in my 80's

self amputation. figure its just a matter of time. hell, branding is is in now. art evolves with time as does the need for each generation to define itself. lets face it youth will rebel by trying to shock the previous generstion, and as long as there is a buck to be made, well there will be marketing types there to exploit it. not saying this IS how it is , just a viewpoint from a soon to be 50 jaded, wishes he was born later to understand computers better, thinks he knows it all old fart.[well maybe not thinks] lol

^
Point being - getting a tattoo when I was 40 didn't dumb me down at all

well, i chickenpeck as my job doesn,t require me to use a keyboard all day. as for spelling ,im purty good when it counts and this is the net. as for dumbing down, didnt mean that to come across. just that when all the cool kids are doing it , ive learned to step back and reevaluate the wants and desires i too have had in the past. in my 20s , thought i would get a tatt. asked an old guy about it . and rethunked my decision. quite happy with it now.

How come tattoos on men are a form of expression but on a woman its a sign of slut factor?

Before tattoos became the "thing" to do, tattoos on men weren't necessarily thought of in a positive light. You were either in the navy or you were a bike gang member. Those were the stereotypes back then.

ahh see...I'm a navy brat. Tattoos were thought of traditional and my dad got one when he went through the Bermuda triangle as part of that tradition.

Until recently, people from middle income families and up generally considered tattoos on men or women to be signs of poor breeding, menial labour, prison time, misspent youth, etc...lowlife.

And the "lowlife wannabe" factor is part of what makes them cool today to a wider audience.

So sure, if you grew up in a navy family, tatts were "normal" because most who weren't officers had the anchors or pinup girls on their arms, etc...as evidence/souvenir of a drunken night whoring around in shanghai or boston or wherever.

But sure, some tatts on some chicks in some locations...are indeed kinda hot...precisely because of the slutty/whore factor...and I'm sure lots of women find some tatts on some men hot/dangerous etc...

Not that that's a bad thing...whatever floats your navy boat, baby!

Really? Glad you are such an authority on the topic.

My father doesn't drink, smoke, or do drugs. His tattoo is a very small circle which represents the turtle...he is native and the turtle is the animal which represents his family clan. So not only was he participating in navy tradition he got a tattoo that was very meaningful to him on a spiritual level.

I find it extremely rude to use the term "whoring around" as something that navy men who aren't "officers" do and just beyond insensitive to say to the daughter of a loving military father who served his country over 25 years. Who is still loyal and with his wife.

Since you felt it appropriate to share what you know, let me share what I do. Those who jump to assumptions like these are quite often not intelligent and aware. Instead, its a reflection of the opposite, shows their judgement is often skewed by their negativity and that their information gathering is often just merely a tool to boost their own ego. Therefore, when you information gather or advocate in such a manner you pollute facts with impurities based on feelings...not logic.

When you let feelings interfere with logic to that extent it can impact your ability to see the world clearly and be aware. Not to mention impact your ability to conduct a relationship with anyone who is aware.

..SO...

When people have nasty things to say about people with tattoos based merely on the fact they have one, I just think they are nasty small-minded people who's intelligence is about as sharp as a shallow spoon. Run along now and go search up the ideas of someone else on the web so you can actually compose a retort that contains thought.

Some men may be misinformed about women but we are educated enough to understand ourselves.

Pants...that's the most droll thing I've read here in ages. Nicely done!

Plus, I just wanted to say "nose boner"...each of you can write your own straight line for that at your leisure.

Thank-you.

To mister man.....So who is the person that decided that more than 2 tattoos makes a women promiscuous & trashy. That to me is ignorant, justbecuz a women has more than 2 tattoos does not make her trashy or promiscuous. Same goes for the lower back..... this is a signal of sexual availability.....how crazy is that?????

You are wasting your time girl with tats. He is an ignorant, narrow minded trouble maker.
Your tats are beautiful by the way
I've said it before- I got my tat on my 40th b-day. Did my morales and intelligence suddenly drop when the ink seeped into my skin

How true rivierra.....If you don't like em, that's fine but not all guys think alike. If that were the only problem I had to worry about was whether someone liked my tats or not; life would be great.....
