|
| Tattoos on Women Posted: 6/19/2006 6:26:42 PM | Yeah tell me about it ... er ... nevermind | |
|
| Tattoos on Women Posted: 6/19/2006 6:45:30 PM | I agree luna...that would be worse.
1st baby I had an epidural 2nd I had the gas 3rd I had a homebirth(no drugs)
I have been lucky to have had very uncomplicated births.

And worrying about what a guy will think of it? Who cares really. If they aren't open minded enough to appreciate you for who you are, then you don't need them.

| Tattoos on Women Posted: 6/19/2006 7:02:15 PM | if a chick is hot, and gets tattoos, she becomes hotter
if a chick is NOT hot, and gets tattoos, she becomes grosser (if that's a word)

| Tattoos on Women Posted: 6/19/2006 7:32:36 PM | Haven't read any of the previous posts. I'm not a big fan of tattoos. However, my daughter has three, including a "tramp stamp". I look at them as an individual choice(mine is not too) and thus I am not against them for individuals. Nowadays tattoos are considered sexy. What it is intrigues people. Others want to know the meaning behind them. A tribute to your family is AWESOME. If you want it large size, then the lower back would give you the space. However, depending on the number of initials, a shoulder one could work. | |

My husband likes them and well if he didnt i would still get them anyways..hahah

| Tattoos on Women Posted: 6/19/2006 9:32:55 PM | Hmm. You are asking.
I'd likely skip someone I could see a stamp on at the start. I'd think twice about someone I found one on after a time. It sends a message IMO, and the message is one I don't like.
I just cannot understand why someone would make the decision.
Option 1) I get a tattoo and some people will think I'm easy or weird or cheap or low class or.....
Option 2) I don't get a tattoo and ALL people see me and judge me on my merits.
I always like the look of them on older people. They're really cool on the over 40's as they take on a whole life of their own with the transformations of skin as it ages.
I remember seeing some people on this site who advertise their tattoos with their pics and I wonder why. I know nothing about this person except she has a big tatt on her back.....next person. It would be fun explaining the beauty of my new girlfriend's tattoo to my family and children. "Oh. Yeah. She has that thing on her but she is a real class act. really!"
I've had the conversation with quite a number of male co-workers and most laugh about the women with the tattoos. "Ummm. Let me think. I don't think so." But, hey.....you don't have to prove anything to anyone. It's not like you really care about dating anyone or limiting your options. It's not like this is a dating site.
I can assure you, I'm not the only male around who will see you as less because of a tattoo. I've often thought about sending the woman who has the huge one on her back shown in her pic. She's pretty enough and could give herself half a chance by just getting rid of the pic and at least letting someone know a little about her before they find the thing.
I'm sure your family would be much happier and more honoured with some more traditional gesture.
This answer may not be popular but you did ask.

| Tattoos on Women Posted: 6/19/2006 10:00:25 PM | I totally understand the differences of opinions on tattoos. Our generation is one of tattoos. it doesn't have the same stigma it used to. And honestly, a guy you choose to be with is likely going to be similiar in mind to yourself. I don't take you for a person who would date a very closeminded person anyway.
I worried about the stigma regarding my hood piercing, and well yeah if it's one of the first things a guy knows about me they either assume I have a lot of sex or they just want to see it lol. So, I usually choose not to mention that for awhile, and my tattoo is hidden most of the time. Regardless, when people ask the story behind both of them they usually think it's cool and just take it as a part of me.
Hope you make the right decision for you, and if you do get it done I'd love to see a pic of it!

| Tattoos on Women Posted: 6/20/2006 2:14:29 AM | people have adorned their bodies with artwork and piercings since the beginning of time, there is certainly nothing new about it. the somewhat recent rise in the number of tatted and pierced people around may be indicitive of a number of things including fads and fashion..... however for many it has a whole different connotation.
in today's society, which is relatively devoid of both spiritual symbolism and traditional cultural values, it is for some people a way of connecting with beliefs and cultural heritage.
sensible......... to assume that everyone who is tatted is "weird, or cheap, or low class" is remarkably close-minded, and part of the reason that women like me, who wear their tats proudly, put them on our profiles is so that we can avoid men with your mind-set. it would be awful in my mind to be dating someone for a while only to find out they hated tats...." i'm sorry dear, but i just can't see you anymore....I DIDN"T KNOW YOU HAD A TAT, and what will my family and kids say."
as far as the whole dating thing.....i can't imagine that i would be interested in any man that would choose not to date me because i am tatted in the first place. i have a particular aversion to judgemental and closeminded people....be they men or women.

| Tattoos on Women Posted: 6/20/2006 3:16:00 AM | Placement ,and design . I think hidden tattoos on women are hot ,women with tattoos showing ,it doesnt look right ,not on women. Just my opinion | |
|
| Tattoos on Women Posted: 6/20/2006 7:19:35 AM | I think if someone judges someone else based on their tattoos then they are not someone i would wanna associate with anyways so it wouldnt bother me what they thought.
not to sounds harsh just my opinion...

| Tattoos on Women Posted: 6/20/2006 7:32:32 AM | Hey, I was only worried about a guy being put off by my family reference staring up him during the act. I already had my heart broken by a guy after it suddenly dawned on him that I was like looking at his mother in her younger days, after nine months of dating!
But as somebody put, it'll take some sort of weird guy to not want sex for a reason like that!

| Tattoos on Women Posted: 6/20/2006 2:21:20 PM | puppet master: LOVE that! I just got my very first tat this winter after almost 20 years of wanting one and flip-flopping over the decision. I'm a mature, professional woman who no longer worries "what will people think?!" It's large, it's beautiful, and I have it on my calf - an area that I can cover up as I almost always wear pants and capris, but by the same token can choose to turn it into an assessory to what ever I'm wearing, in whatever environment I choose to.
Luna, if you want to make a tribute in ink to your family members, go right ahead! It's not like it's an ex-boyfriend's name. btw: it's said there is no more sure-fire way to cause a relationship to end than to tat the name of your partner on your body, lol!

| I'm a walking work of art... Posted: 6/20/2006 2:33:45 PM | Hey luna-chick - ink on a woman is not only classy, but depending on how they are done and where they are placed is all part of the design. A fantastic tatto artist in Halifax is Klye Leblanc (he runs what was fromerly know as skintastic...now called sin on skin). He is located at pizza corner. All my tattoos are custom designed, they are the journal of my life as each one has a story behind it. I can hide or show any of them at will. Oh, I am in the process of designing 3 more (I like to keep them balanced on my body). The only thing about pregancy is this.... on your belly or hip area if you haven't been pregant prior to having a tattoo, there is a great cahnce that the tattoo will strech out of shape if is a small one. I have seen this 1st hand on more than one lady. I love the idea behind your 2nd tattoo. Ask around when you see one you like and find out who did it. The best of luck, and I can bet you will end up with more than 2 *big grin* YFW | |

| I'm a walking work of art... Posted: 6/20/2006 3:06:10 PM | ^^^same with getting one on your breast. Mine went from a nice small rose to a fairly large one now. It is also 14 years old and been through puberty and three pregnancies with me. It is no longer the dainty rose I once had.... | |

| Tattoos on Women Posted: 6/20/2006 3:46:47 PM | | Are we any more offended because he's saying this about women? Because you could turn this around and make it about guys and some of us would nod our heads. Tattoos on handsome and well-built guys appeal to me like crazy, but on a big brute of a man with hefty facial hair, I'd say he looked scary. He was just being a bit more blunt. | |
