Posted: 1/25/2007 7:48:16 PM | hmm...certainly some women live their lives with a great sense of optimism which can project a younger state of mind and attitude; they may be able to handle the levels of stress in their lives having a more positive spin on things.
People often take me as ridiculously younger than I am (in the "real" world)... I'm convinced it is for the above reasons. | |

Both my sister and I abused our bodies in our 20s with drinking, drugs, bad eating habits and no sleeping schedule. My sister has always sun tanned alot and still does. We all drink coffee and where all smokers at one point and time. So in my opinion it is the genes. | |

Posted: 1/26/2007 6:30:59 PM | I am 43 and can easily pass for way younger. Was asked for ID on my fortieth birthday, and the guy was serious. Thought my drivers license was fake.
I smoke, wear makeup, love processed foods (cheese Whiz is a food group all in itself), live on sugar and I'm Ukranian, so hydrogenated fats are a large part of my diet.
I think that what is on the inside of you strongly affects how the outside of you looks. I feel 30, therefore I look about 30.
I am the same size exactly as I was in grade 12, and don't think that's easy, but its all what you will allow, barring health problems. I have never used any face creams or night time wrinkle fixers, I think your skin gets tired of having its' pores clogged with all that crap.

Posted: 1/27/2007 9:00:41 AM | I am 47 and NO ONE ever believes it. Now to say I look young enough to card would be a stretch, but I do think I have aged well. It must be genetic because I have done nothing particular to arrest the aging process.
I live life full of laughter and that makes me young at heart, which may help in the whole big picture!
It also helps that I date younger guys too. They keep me feeling young......

I'm sure some of it is hereditary- I'm Japanese, and my whole family looks pretty young (even my grandmother who is 90 looks more like 60). When I'm teaching, people ask me ask me what year in university I am - they look really embarrassed when I find out that I have been teaching university courses for 10 years - but I have also been told that I don't act like a regular professor either. Still, turning 40 was a bit of a shock- I never thought about my age until then. But I still get carded, so I guess even though I'm over the hill, I'm not speeding up yet ! | |

Posted: 7/19/2007 9:04:01 AM | I am 34 but I still look 25 and still get carded when I buy beer. I don't drink often and I eat pretty good. I don't smoke. Sometimes I think my life is pretty stressful but compared to my friends my life is not stressful at all.
Genes have a lot to do with it as well. Both my mom and dad look very young for their age. My sister is 44 and still gets carded. | |

Posted: 7/19/2007 10:24:25 AM | I often get told I look about 10 yrs younger then I am....some even ask if I am lying about my age?? Why would I say I was older then I am...lol!! I think for me it is genes....and I don't smoke....I don't stress out over things, I do have risky behaviors though ;)......I am sure one day it will eventually catch up...but my mother and grandmother all aged the same......

Posted: 7/19/2007 10:05:44 PM | I'm not so sure about the genetic theory. My father looks about 20 years older than he is and I inherited a lot from him (green eyes, brown hair, diseases -gee thanks Dad). My mother and a few of her sisters (though not all) do look younger than their real age.
Then again, I've smoked for over half my life, ran around without sunscreen until a few years ago, partied from my teens through to my early 20's, was chronically ill for the last half of my 20's, and I still look much younger than my actual age.
Who knows, maybe it will all catch up with me yet but I agree with previous posters that it has a lot to do with attitude. I still think of myself as sixteen (reality only ever sinks in when I'm being chatted up by some lovely young soul who tells me during the course of conversation that he's 19... ouch), I don't wear make up very often (that stuff's pretty hard on the skin), and I exercise a lot now (chronically ill no more, thank you), I'm sure these things help.
Oh, and I am Canadian, so maybe it is in the maple syrup | |

Also I dress younger and have a high-pitched voice, and keep my hair long. My mother is Asian and our skin quality is quite good as well. I also quit smoking 5 years ago, eat relatively healthy and so some light exercise. I also moisturise my skin daily. | |

Of course there are times in my life I experience more stress but daily excersise and trying to eat right help I think and of course I'd like to think I also came from good Irish genes=) | |
