I do smoke and seek the sun, eat what I like and any kind of "skin care product" makes me break out. My adoptive sister is fair and avoids the sun and doesn't smoke, she started getting "crows feet" at the same age.
But, oh yeah, we are Canadian, eh, maybe that IS it.
Incidentally I am 40 now and in the last 2 weeks I had guys that were definitely under 25 flirting with me, in a BIG way. LOL. | |

Posted: 8/9/2007 9:16:39 AM | Most tell me that I look a lot younger than I am. I have always enjoyed being active and that has helped a lot; going to the gym was not something I have ever enjoyed. I like doing fun things that keep me in shape, dancing, soccer, roller skating, taking walks. I do try to eat right but frankly I really just don’t eat a lot because my choice of food is not that healthy, I have never been the rabbit food kind of girl.

Believe me you either have the right ones or the ones that dont work for you.
I am told all the time i look about 10 yrs younger. which is probably why alot of people think my 18 yr old son is my brother. And a few times my BF. lmao....now thats funny
Though it has to be genes. My mom is 75 and she doesnt look much above maybe 60.
She has NEVER smoked/or have done any kind of drugs . and has drank alchol moderately her whole life.
Me on the other hand has smoked since i was 15. Quit twice for 4 years each. JUST recently quit smoking again. I was a drug addict in my twenties. Love my beer and crown royal. NOT an alcholic but like my drink lol.
So i have NOT taken care of my body like my Mom has and still look younger. So I KNOW its the genes....

I have always been a healthy eater, drink lots of water, never smoked, drink only occasionally...
Maybe it is a healthy sex drive and a love of life? Genetics? Well, my younger sisters look older than me...but then again, they live on the East coast and drink and smoke...so???

Posted: 12/12/2007 4:51:37 PM | It's probably because I checked out of the stressful Corporate job that I had and figured out that life is more about living than making a lot of money and having a lot of expensive toys ... or the fact that I get to travel quite a bit, hang out with a great community of creative and kind people while I dance my face off too a lot of great live music as I'm working as a massage therapist at music festivals ...

Posted: 12/13/2007 9:46:43 AM | I am 42 in March. I still get carded (which tickles me pink). I am not an out doors type so I limited the amount of sun I got. When I was a teenager I took dance classes from 10 in the morning untill 11 at night. My body fat is still very low. I think that is very imporatant. Your muscle tone is what holds your body together and makes it look it 's best the longest. I have had 4 children and gained no more than 20 pounds with each one. WORK OUT AND KEEP YOUR BODY FAT AS LOW AS POSSIBLE. I love veggies. I cant stand eatting without them. I must admit I never drank. I still dont. I mean I didnt have my first drink until I was in my mid 30's.
I do at home microdermabrasion and at home chemical peels. I have been doing them for the last 5 years. I think they are great. I also use Rock Products. GREAT!!! I get at least 8 hours of sleep but that hasnt always been so. Do I think I look like I did when I was 22. No but am I aging gracfully. Yes. I think aging gracfully is working at looking the best you can at any age. Keep your weight down. Get enough sleep and limit the amount of drinking you do. See how you look 10 years from now.

organic brown sugar
any organic food
hot coco
no coffee, no colas and no beer
red wine ...sometimes.
I laugh a lot and walk a lot and do my arts with gusto

Posted: 12/17/2007 7:53:13 PM | Honestly I think much to do with it is genetics, and men aren't taught to groom themselves like women are. My mother and her mother and so on all were "young" looking until menopause.
Secondly, I STAY OUT OF THE SUN! When I am in it I wear SPF 50 sunblock. I wear lotion with sun screen in it all year round. I used to get made fun of for being pale in high school by the fake-bakers, at my ten year reunion they all look like dried up, nasty prunes.
Thirdly, I drink a ton of water and I take high-quality vitamins and minerals and try to eat organic. I do an homeopathic detox about twice a year.
The only thing I don't have is the bod I once did pre- child bearing, mainly because I can no longer afford to spend 1-2 hours working out five days a week in a posh gym (gosh I wish!) And I don't have the "skinny" gene from my moms side I got the "chubby" gene from my dads - it sucks, but I've made my peace with it.
Finally - sexy is an attitude! If you don't have it, figure out how to get it!

My mom looks young, my sister are both in their 40's and look AMAZING! So, yeah, DNA. Also I think that there are better products out there than there used to be (and in another 20 years there will be better ones than we have now, blah, blah, blah).... and they work! lol. Plus eating your veggies and all that crap helps too! :) I attribute mine to good DNA, Dermalogica and Bare Essentials! :) | |

I've often been told I look 10 years younger & my skin/teeth/head hair must be down to genes as my lifestyle is bad:
never eat fruit, closest I come to a vegetable is a tin of beans, lots of fast food
although
never smoked, drink average 10 units/week (starting at 28), yoga/gym sometimes, never married/kids
I tried my luck when making my page on this site & put my age as 7 years younger (and its now stuck at that lol), kinda backfired though as if ya do end up meeting some1 then your age is gonna come out DOH! | |

All a matter of finding those that have similar backgrounds, attitudes, work ethic, activities, and any other item to help keep you fit and young.......
My genetics, along with my luck, not smoking, eating healthy, and getting laid by those who constantly prove to me that age is not the determining factor, but rather, vitality, reality, spirituality, and creativity that will lead the way to aging slowly, and enjoying every bit of it........

Posted: 12/20/2007 7:16:37 PM | No one talks to me about how old I look. I think most days I look 37, and I am 37. Some days I look 30 and some 42, but for the most part, I think I look my age. But, like a lot of people on here have said, I exercise, drink a lot of water, try to eat a balanced/healthy diet, sleep enough, avoid stress, get lots of fresh air, drink tea, etc.
As someone else said, I don't need to look a lot younger than I am; I just don't want to look older.
What I do notice, however, is that EVERYONE seems to look younger for their age than they did 20 years ago. People are living longer, so when you're 35, you aren't as close to expectancy as you used to be. My parents are in their 70s, and I think they look younger than the average person in their 70s looked 20 years ago. Plus, people are more aware now of what causes premature aging, and as a result, some people are much more careful. | |
