Healthy eating, controlling stress, moderate exercise and meditation is known to slow down the aging or even reverse it.

Most women my age remind me of my grandmother. Sorry, can't help it.

Every once in a while I run into a 45 plus lady that took care of herself and looks gret though, that is always a pleasant surprise.

Im not sure what u class as young looking - Im 39 - 4o this October. These pics are me 3 weeks ago. Im always told I look far younger ... what have I done??

Smoked at least 3o a day since 14.
Drank Since 14.
Sunbaked heavily and still do - NO sunsceen for me - but the oil goes on a LOT.

Its genetics not potions and living - and I have always noted women younger then me looking far worse for wear then me have always quoted the healthy living thing.

By the way - dont go for the botoxes and things they make people look abnormal. Better to have wrinkles and look real then look strangely like a stunned mullet

Genes play a big part,my mom looks very young for her age,but then both my mom and i are vegetarians and eat very healthy organic foods, plus alot of outdoor activity, exercise is the key!...I have always been active....and a positive outlook ,appreciating the little things in life...enjoying them....and laughter....laughter is so important, especialy when you can laugh at yourself, these things ease stress...and stress is a killer, stress will age you....but healthy eating and excercise is the fountain of youth beleive me....because i smoke and drink coffee and like to go out and drink my wine and tequila!!.....i think that if I didn't exercise and have my sport and eat mostly organic vegan foods....i wouldn't look as young as i do for my age.....

I agree about men aging much sooner than women. I am 50 and am dating a 32 year old guy. We go out dancing a lot which I love much more fun than the gym.

I am living in the Dominican Republic and have a great life here. More or less stress free... cannot compare this to living in England. So happy to have escaped the cold, dark days 6 years ago.

LOL...that is rubbish. From my vantage point, women my age are dowdy, frumpy, have a tendency to be overweight, and simply do not get "enjoy Life."

But that's from where I sit - I imagine much of the view is in the eye of the beholder.

So, I would expect most women to believe men age faster; just as I would expect men to believe the opposite.
The truth is probably a bell curve.

Good genes.......good workouts.......healthy life styles..........healthy food and drink......and much luck, all play a huge part in how you look, and even though we can not stop aging, we certainly can slow it down much by doing all these things.

What amazes me is how so many put so much on the age thing, and not on how you two fit together with attraction, chemistry and enjoyment. I truly do not care how old you are, but much more how you look, and how you handle yourself when with me.

I do hope that one day POF eliminates the age category on profiles and forces all to have at least four pictures and they must show a close up facial, and a total body shot, front, side and rear..........

There are so many other things to consider when it comes to attraction, and the age is one of the least pertinent criteria unless you are thinking of having children, or wanting a huge insurance policy to supplement what you can not get on your own.......

Just my opinion........

It's a curious question, but I'd like to toss in an anomaly if I may...
I've been smoking for 21 years, at least a pack a day, and at one point I was smoking about 3-4 packs a day. If I shave, and get my hair cut nice, I can pass for 22 any day of the week.

My diet consists of eating at least once a day, rarely more than twice a day. I've been working on a monitor tan all winter, but in the summer, the top comes off my jeep and it stays off all season.

Although, I've never been a big drinker. alcohol just doesn't do it for me. I don't use any controlled substances...

oh yes, and I've been wearing a hat pretty much my whole life too. so far no sign of a retreating hair line.

So, I'd have to say, It's all Genetics... forget about what you eat.

I'm agreeing with Untrusting here.
I dont think healthy lifestyles have much to do with it. I know very young looking women who eat junk, smoke like chimneys.. and dont exercise or even get much fresh air.
I belive genetics, bone structure and getting lots of sleep can help to keep you looking young. I also believe being childless has a lot to do with looking younger too.
Things that age you... Hmm, well,.. i think alcohol in excess pretty much wrecks a persons face.. and sun exposure.

On my "good" days, people sometime tell me I look younger than my 51 years, although my good days are getting further and further apart...lol!

Up until just three or fours years ago, I looked much younger than my stated age, but the years seem to have caught up with
me all at once, and now I'm looking more and more my age every day, which is fine by me;)

Whether I do look younger or not is a matter of perception ( or lighting;) and everyone will have their own opinions I guess;)

But if I do, it's certainly not because of my lifestyle choices.

I took a lot a sun when I was younger, often burning to a crisp red only to peel for weeks afterwards.

I also smoke like a chimney and I started smoking when I was just 11 or 12...so that's a lot of smoking.

I have the worst sleep habits of anyone I know and they just keep getting worse as I'm getting older. I average 4 or 5 hours sleep per day...sometimes 6 if I'm lucky.

And although I eat healthy as far as getting my share of fruits and vegetables and cooking mainly from scratch, I've also eaten truckloads of Doritos and chips...in fact, make that a train or a Boeing 707 full...lol!

As far a personal/beauty care goes, I don't now and never have worn foundation, moisturizing cream, or sunscreen of any kind
on my face or body. I wash with the soap that's on special and I go to bed still wearing my eye liner and mascara.

And I never rubbed my pregnant "belly" with any of the "magic" lotions to prevent stretch marks and I never got any:) But on
the other hand, I've had ugly cellulite all my life, even as a young girl, so it's an even trade I guess:(

But my very best advice for looking younger is to get yourself a cheap webcam that can't help but to take fuzzy blurry
pictures...it does wonders for your skin...lol!

Most women my age remind me of my grandmother. Sorry, can't help it.

I don't mind being compared to my grandmothers.

My father's mother was one of the few people in my family who simply loved me, without strings attached. I spent a fair amount of time with her and learned a lot from her that I couldn't have learned from anyone else. She died last year around Easter, and she's very much on my mind right now.

My mother's mother is a different kind of wonderful. Divorced in her late 40s, she remarried and helped her second husband with his ranch until they both got too ill to manage it anymore. They sold it and got a little cottage, where they're quite happy taking care of each other as best they can with the help of one of my aunts. He has Parkinson's and she has emphysema, but last time I saw her, she was all but popping wheelies in her new electric scooter.

Neither of them were hawt as they aged, and neither of them ever set foot in a gym in their lives, but I still think they aged well.

I think being mostly American Indian helps me a lot and I don't always live a healthy lifestyle. I do try and eat semi-healthy, keep weight under control and look neat and clean when out in public. On more than one occassion I have had a female approach me, run her fingers through my hair and tell me what ever I'm doing to keep doing it. Now that I'm getting older I try harder to make better choices on eating, excercise and such.

Perhaps when they were younger they looked after themselves, ie, didn't go out and drink like a fish every weekend, didn't smoke, ate healthy etc. simple lifestyle choices in my opinion.

Some women I know who partied hard when younger now look 10 years older than what they really are.

since 10 years ago I have been told I look 22 - problem is am now 30 and am still getitng told i look 22. perhaps, i stopped ageing at 22 years old and in 30-40 years time, i'd probably still look 22! LOL!!

I don't know what it is - i eat and stuff my face, yet hardly put on weight; I despise exercise and any form of exertion (except dancing), I do not smoke, but like the odd drink, plus i live in London (hardly being surrounded by fresh mountain air!)

I agree with the above post. However, I think the age thing is front and foremost mainly on dating sites. In the real world, front and foremost is attraction, personality and how you "click" with someone whether it's a prospective date or with new friends.

It would definitely be interesting to see what would happen if the age category on POF profiles was eliminated and POF implemented that requirement immediately. Also, enforcement of the rule that at least one photo is a CLEAR CLOSE UP. There are far too many photos that are taken too far away to make out features . oops!! sorry for going off topic...

I have had emails that say I look 20 years younger, but of course I eat right and execise, do not smoke, do not do drugs. Drink wine or beer once or twice a day. In fact my BP was 110/59 today! But the best thing is making love at least 3 times a week!

I think it's something called "make up" - hey - even cosmetic surgery has advanced so much these days... lol...

I don't age because I enjoy leading an active healthy lifestyle. Excersise. Outdoor activites. Not binge drinking. Early to bed. Plenty of friut & veg... etc.

There is a saying - "You don't stop playing because you get old. You get old because you stop playing".

I know the question is aimed at younger looking women, but I'll throw in the following, since the only thing about me that would count as "old" is my receding hairline.

I've never, and I mean never, used any recreational drugs, and I do not drink alcohol.
I work out regularly (5 days a week) to maintain a natural bodybuilder's physique, and I do not eat refined sugars or white flour.

Living in Arizona tends to dry out the skin, but I do not go out in the sun to tan, so my skin is not weather-worn.

Most of the time, someone who looks prematurely old has had dye jobs, sun-damaged skin, is overweight from poor diet and lack of exercise, and has lived "in the fast lane" with drugs and alcohol. That kind of stuff takes its toll. Drugs and tanning will put deep lines in your face, and excess bodyfat also makes you look old. Vitamin deficiencies will also lend themselves to premature graying of the hair.

Does that answer the question?
