proper rest; exercise, eating whole and natural foods, plenty of water, no cigarettes, and enjoying life. It is however annoying having to pull out ID when I am almost 29, I can say I look young, but not 17 LOL

I look younger than my years by a decade at least... although my hair has a lot of grey in it...which I started getting in my teens...
I drink beer. Nothing stronger except very very rarely...
Never smoked...
Don't drink coffee...
No junk food...
I'm a night person so I do tend to avoid sunlight more than most...
I excercise and I don't get stressed...

I don't smoke, don't drink much either. Try to not get TOO much sun.

I don't look TOO haggard for being almost 40!

I'm told by a lot of people that for a 51-year-old grandmother of 8, I look much younger (somone recently gave me late 30s, but it was in poor light). No particular care of my diet, sporadic exercise, moderate drinker, non-smoker, haven't been a sun-worshipper. But mostly, I think I got lucky in the gene department and I try to maintain a positive and cheerful outlook. Happy people look younger, imo.

I am told in person I look anywhere from 25 to 28, Im 36... And there is only a few things I have that may or may not contribute if what they say is true.

I never go in the sun, unless I absoooluteeeely have too. In fact I have no Vitamin D in my system because of it, I take a prescription strength 50,000 ius a week. ( Sun is BADDDD) ... lol And I dont fake tan either. I really dont care if I am pale or not. I dont do this because of aging, this is purely because of my lifestyle and circumstances in my life. Just so happens it may have slowed the aging process a bit.

I also drink a LOT of water, at least 6 bottles of 24oz water a day. And I really try to avoid fast food, high fatty food and believe it or not chocolate ( isnt hard for me I dont like it ) but the occasions I do eat any, it really messes with my skin.

I have been told almost every time that I look 27. No one has EVER guessed my age. Not even the age guessers. Ive even been asked for ID going into bars!

I dont smoke and never have (thanks to my sister making me smoke a cig when i was 8) I also didnt drink until I was 30. Drugs are a bad thing too. I love the sun, my first job was at a tanning salon!

I do have kids and most cant believe that either

I look younger than my age and so do my best friends
Well it could be linked to genes or also having healthy habits
My friends and I only drink once in a while, love healthy food and work out...and enjoy having a good night sleep....Otherwise we still behave like eternal teenagers lol
I don t know if i have the right answers but that s an explanation

I get told I look 5-10 yrs younger than I am.

I stayed away from all of those "Daytona" spring breaks so I didnt bake in the sun (or use tanning beds).

My diet has improved but its been at best questionable for many of my past years.
Ditto for exercise. Other than an abundance of walking, I didnt exercise at all until a couple of years ago.

Both my parents are 70 and have all of their hair and minimal gray.

I don't smoke. I do drink, but not heavy. A few times where I was "vacationing" from work or whatever and had a few nights out in a row, my skin got REAL dry and palid looking. It picked back up after I upped my water intake for the next 24-48 hours.

Never had (or will have) any cosmetic surgery

I drink a lot of fluids, always have. Tea is tremendous for your skin.

Always taken a multi (have for at least 20 years)

And last but not least, in fact probably the most important, is I use sunscreen every day, for the last 15-20 years. I take care of my skin, hair, etc very diligently. See, some of that "frilly stuff" actually serves a purpose :)

Canadian girl here, and I think my youthful appearance is just plain luck. I really do nothing to make it happen like skin treatments and anti-aging serums. I do have alot of allergies, including allergic to heat/sun, and therefore I stay out of it as much as possible. I have noticed that I have very few wrinkles for almost 40, and genetics have graced me with no grey hair yet (thank you!) I don't dress like a teenager, but I do enjoy looking trendy, and haven't cut the hair off to the length that most 40 year old women tend to do (why oh why do they do that?). I wear it shoulder length and style it, keep my make up simple and current. I also feel youthful, act youthful and I think that makes a huge difference too. I am told I look 30-31 - I'll take it!! My nickname at work is kiddo :)

Stay out of the sun and tanning beds. Did you know that the FDA just rated tanning beds as more toxic than smoking by something like 100 times? yeah.
I went to my high school reunion last year. I remember in high school all those girls who went to the tanning salons and had such pretty tanned skin all year round, and how envious I was of them...my naturally pale skin and red hair made it impossible for me to tan, so I never bothered, it was a waste of money.
Those girls looked ten years older than me. They had crows feet and deep lines in their foreheads, creases beside their mouths, and the girls who were smokers had lines around their lips. Some still were oblivious to the effects of tanning still and were dark as ever, with leathery skin and bleached out hair, and they looked so old.
I'm glad I never bought into that style or fad. I may be 38 but at least I don't look 58.
My mom is 64 and doesn't look it either, and my grandmother passed away at 83 and had beautiful skin...they all preached about skin care and staying out of the sun too. Glad I listenened.

The sun can actually be our friend, if we use common sense. Use sunscreen..plenty of it. But keep in mind, that straight vitamin D from the sun has some amazing health benefits. The sun is listed in holistic treatments for illnesses all the time...from the common cold to cancer. But anyone who bakes in it for hours, especially without sunscreen, is going to look like leather. I live in Florida, so.......let's just say I buy sunscreen by the economy size.

These questions are dangerous because in answering them we are saying we look young when maybe someone thinks we're ten years older than we are :)

Not saying whether I think I look younger or not, just know most people freak when they find out I have a 20 year old, so IF they're right and they're not blowing smoke up my well, whatever :)

I just know I do all the wrong things. I drink caffeine regularly, I am outside every single second that I possibly can, (though maybe the fresh air helps?) :) and my sleeping habits aren't the best.

But I am active outside doing many types of things both endurance and cardio and strength producing, drink a ton of water, eat healthy and try and stay positive (I think negative thoughts and energy makes a person age, it "darkens" them somehow).

I used to get offended people assumed I was so much younger, I'm finally at the point I don't mind anymore. I also know I should cut my hair so it's more age aprpopriate, but I love how it feels and just can't do it; so maybe I get in trouble by some who know my age for trying to look young, but I'm not. I'm just comfortable with it the way it is.

But again, anyone who looks at my pics and assumes I'm my age or older, never mind, you can use my list for what NOT to do lol

(anyone who knows my mom will know it's genetics. She just turned 70 and she looks 15 years younger than she is, minimal. it comes from scandihoovian/british isles genetics)

I'm not really sure why so many people here blame the sun for so much of this. For me personally, when i don't get any sun, my skin becomes pasty, i break out, and imperfections surface.. like those movies where people have lived underground their whole lives. If i get a mild amount of sun, my skin and complexion seems much more healthy. Too much sun, just like too much of anything, isn't good. Not getting any at all though isn't good either for some people

I'd agree with that based upon your pictcures. You do look that young.

~OT~ I'm 45 and look it. I'm not the least bit interested in hearing that I look younger than I am. I've earned every smile line I have and thankfully I don't have frown lines or burrowed brows ~ but I'm not going to delude myself. There will be those who think we look younger and for every one of thosse there will be at least one other person who doesn't agree with that assessment. I'm the age I am ~ period. JMO

Green.......You look great for your age, or any age for that matter, and I know that you are happy with that......

I have aged, but maybe not as fast as some of my friends and family, and those I date usually do not have a clue about my maturity until it is brought up for whatever reason, and then I am happy to tell them that even though older, they seem to enjoy what I bring to the table, and my company.

For those that think being older is just plain bad, here is a site that might convince you otherwise........

http://www.hogrockcafe.com/miss_fifty-year_old.htm

I would be happy to enjoy any of these women no matter their age or mine, but alas, me thinks that it would not be as much fun with all the artificial parts, and surgeries needed to keep them where that are, but still nice to look at.

Now, if I can only find those close to 50 and older, that look somewhat like this without a doctors help, I would be more than satisfied.

Just my opinion..........

Im 39...I get lots of rest (beauty sleep, beauty sleep, beauty sleep) and have had good supportive family to help me raise my son to keep me from being weary and worn...Also I haven't done as much tanning visits as some people...but good skin just runs in my mothers family...Sometimes it's just genetics...

Hate to break it to a lot of you, but it's mostly genetic. Still, a lot of good advice here for being healthy, which is more important.

Most people I know think I look younger than my age which is fine by me! Yes, they have been well compensated!

It is probably a combination of genetics, never married , no kids , and the fact I never grew up!

Unfourtantly the looks seem to catch up to age eventually & in my case really fast. lol. It was almost like one day I looked younger & a couple days later older & it just went from there. Now I finally look my age & have to just accept it.

I've had people stare at my face and ask why I don't have wrinkles. I like to think I take care of myself but some of it is genetics. My mother looked 40 when she was in her mid 50's. My dad at 67 still had less then 50% grey and all his hair.

I concentrate on eating fresh fruits and vegetables, wear a hat and sunscreen in the sun, whole grains and lean meats. I don't squint my eyes, furrow my brow and I don't smoke. I use a good moisturizer and a buffer to exfoliate old skin cells away. I never laid out in the sun when I was younger as I burn very easily.

I often have people comment on how young I look -- both men and women. I think I'll have to post a photo with newspaper headline or something to prove when it was taken. Ha, ha!!

I find it strange to look at some people's photos - wondering why it is they look so old!!

If you look at photos with incredulity... ask the lady what the first cartoon she remembers ever watching on TV. When she says...there wasn't tv when she was a girl, you know she is older than she appears.

I actually do age some. I also act my age. Unlike some people that can't act mature lately and have an intelligent conversation, By the way, you know who, having no way to contact you for 11 years is not my fault. I did try. I did today. It's works both ways. You did not call me either for 11 years. By the way, what do you know about genetics? You ever take a course in it? I think not.

Most people don't age rapidly due to normal DNA sequencing in their chromosomes. If a gene (a sequence of bases) is in the "right" place along a strand of DNA it codes for the correct form of the protein it is designed to make. It is only when a single or sometimes multiple mistake in the genetic code results in a what is called a point mutation (or worse) that results in the formation of proteins that either have no function or an incorrect function. This results in causing the cellular membranes of tissues to "not work correctly" resulting in what most people refer to as aging. We all do it and over time ...............you DNA just is not what it used to be so we age.

If your DNA just has not started resulting in mis coding for the proteins you make ...........you don't age much. If your DNA starts making mistakes early in your life, you age quicker. Stress, chemicals, and the environment can speed up the process in certain people it just depends on the person. Consider children with progeria, this unfortunately happen in them.
