| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/21/2006 4:55:04 AM | I must agree with some of these post about Canadian woman looking younger by staying out of the sun. Here in Ottawa the ratio(so they say) is 3 woman to 1 man...but everytime I go do any activities or go to a bar/club/coffee shop it's a sausage fest...so they must be staying inside out of the sun...probably on the internet alot looking for men instead of going outside and looking? | |

5 weeks til my vacation in Ottawa! Now,I'm really looking forward to it!
I don't go out and suntan. My dad and my brother both had skin cancer,so,why take the chance? Besides ,if I look any younger than my age,it must be genetics. My father didn't get any grey hair until after he was 60.

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/21/2006 9:12:34 AM | Hey Florida I'm with you with a little added extra of spending hours on a sun bed - when I'm not on holiday soaking up the rays.............
Oh and I find a sense of humour goes a long way ..........If I'm crying laughing I can't see the wrinkles !!!

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/21/2006 11:11:35 AM | | I drink, smoke, eat junk food, dont use face cream ... so Im pretty sure its just genetics if I look younger than I am.... (although I am so bloody pale skinned I gave up sun tanning long ago) | |
|
| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/21/2006 11:28:46 AM | | I used to smoke, but gave it up almost 10 years ago. I did my share of partying but got over it early in life (probably from starting so early). I never did drugs, I never drank a whole lot. I eat healthy, work out regularly, get my sleep, laugh a lot and relax and enjoy life. I think it's due to a low level of stress and a healthy lifestyle...and ya gotta stay moving. You don't use it, you will lose it. I'll be 40 in two years, and I want to make sure I hit the ground running when it comes to aging gracefully. | |

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/21/2006 3:22:04 PM | | People's aging is usually due to genetics. The way their bodies handle environmental stress conditions. | |

- avoiding sun
This is the biggest one I’ve heard of as well. Those tanning beds can cause more than just skin cancer.
Another one I’ve heard mentioned is calcium levels.
Most women are aware that osteoporosis has a detrimental effect on the bones of the body, causing them to become brittle and susceptible to fracture. However, few know that osteoporosis can also effect your jaw bones, causing facial changes which can create a prematurely elderly appearance.
Women with an especially high risk for osteoporosis are small boned Caucasian and Asian women. Additional risk factors are: a family history of the disease, women who are physically inactive, smokers, women with diets low in dairy products, women who consume more than 2 alcoholic beverages per day, and women with a history of anorexia or bulimia. Any women who had a surgical hysterectomy prior to 50 years old without hormone replacement are at a greater risk for the disease.
This would be where some of the other causes cited by Zentral would come into play. Smoking and excessive drinking can lead to osteoporosis leading to a less youthful appearance.
Genetics play a primary role in the danger of osteoporosis, but a healthier diet and lifestyle help considerably for women more prone to calcium deficiencies. Exercise also helps the body with using calcium effectively.

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/22/2006 2:02:12 PM | @CompleteKaos: I guess the coffe+ soda I had this morning didn't help.
@leafslady: Ahhh, Dorian Gray. I love horror. I also loved him in League of Extrordinary Gentlemen.
@Paige: Yeah, I can see that. and your hair is full too.
@bailaangelita: You are probably underage.
@just kats: Do the virgins have to die?
@Carrie_Bradshaw: And even without looking at your username you look like Carrie Bradshaw form sex and the city.
@oldschoolqueen: Yesterday on another fourm I thought you were this girl who was in my grade. oops I thought you were Eva.

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/22/2006 2:20:31 PM | Cos i refuse to age...

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/22/2006 2:29:37 PM | | I guess I look older than 33 but I cook in the sun every day I can't help it being a Roofing Contractor , I used to smoke and party a little also. | |
|
| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/22/2006 4:56:16 PM | I don't know what they do to look so young. I might read in on here later to see what they put. I bet it cost alot though to keep up the work. | |
|
| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/22/2006 4:59:45 PM | hmmm....I smoke, drink, party and work hard...yet always mistaken as to my age...I am waiting for it to catch up on me though...
That said, my mother was the same way and she's 65 now...not looking a day over 50...so perhaps it is genetics...
Got one life to live so...I count my lucky stars and continue to enjoy life as if I was still a child/teenager (with more knowledge and maturity though...I like to think ;)

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/22/2006 9:48:25 PM | | I'm responding here because I saw Misseyes response about ocean air. Hmmmm.....I hope she's right. She looks a lot younger than 35. I do still get carded, and while that might sound like bragging, it's not. I've always been shy, so I am reluctant to wear shorts in the summer even though I do exercise my legs and ride a bike. I dunno, maybe I'm not that bad but avoiding excessive sun exposure in the summer helps. So, 6 of one, half dozen of the other. | |

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/22/2006 11:40:49 PM | It has got to be genetic. People figure my mother and my aunt (who both smoked a lot) to be in their 30's and both are over 50. I get looks of disbelief when I tell my age as most think I am 20. When around my mother I often get people think I am her sister and are shocked I am her daughter:)
I eat what I want and do what I want, so there's no magic there I have control of. None of us have to work on looking younger than what we are. It comes naturally.
Though we all get a kick when my baby sister is out with her 11 YO son and my mother and my sister gets mistaken for his sister and our mother gets mistaken as being his mother, not grandma:)
Gotta love DNA!!! | |

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/23/2006 10:02:24 AM | its not that folks dont age...its that they use pictures from 10 years ago...lol.
Seriously...in Canada we use the metric system which means (like dog years) when a Canadian says.."oh im 35 years celsius old" it really means they are "25 years farenhiet old."...
I know its confusing...but trust me ...I know alot of stuff about things and other things about stuff.

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/23/2006 1:27:14 PM | | Well, thankfully Desperate housewives gives us out that in the 80's and 90's would be considered uncool or out of their prime. But the thing is they can act. And I find Bree hot. She is like Ms. Perfect, but she also has her character's 'attitude'. Maybe it was the way she was with her son before she found out he was gay. And wow in the latest episodes she showed she was willing to die for her daughter. And no one points out that she is a single mother because she is not a single person. Like the Blonde with 3 kids, she is a force of nature. | |

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/23/2006 4:30:21 PM | | I go hiking nearly every weekend. While I don't age in looks, sometimes occasional aches and pains remind me I'm not 18 anymore. Still I overcome them and continue. Funny how I find I ache less if hike more! A scattered gray hair here and there, but 35 is a nice gentle age to be at. And yes a virgin to boot. My clock hasn't been triggered by a marriage yet. But even so, I lead a happy lifestyle, and doubt I'll really look my age unless I reach some sort of depression. | |

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/23/2006 9:16:59 PM | oh damn i drink to much and smoke to much and ya i never wash my face except with water..if i had the catherine zita jones make over i dont thin k i would like recongize myself...on truth i wash with water thats it and i look old..but who care i am meeeee..and maybe i lok 46 ot maybe 70 who care | |

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/24/2006 12:38:36 AM | | Ive had a couple comments that i dont look 40, but wow you should see the women on my mothers side of the family! I think its definitely in the genes. I have an aunt who is 63 who's hubby is 37. lol He looks older than she does! lol I have a grandmother who is 81 who plays golf with her 'high school gf's' (no shit) and travels every year and works out at Curves. My greatgrandmother lived to be 103 and still lived on her own in her own house when she died in her sleep. Yeah id say its definitely in the genes. | |

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/24/2006 3:09:44 AM | | Mostly genes for me (thanks mom...wuv u) but also the woman in my family take care of themselves inside and out, mind and body. Eat right, most of the time. Exercise, most of the time. Indulge and splurg now and then. Be happy and youthful on the inside and it shines on the outside. | |
