| Why don't you age? Posted: 9/4/2009 5:04:04 PM | I have to thank my mom. My mother was always a beautiful woman who never seemed to age, now she's in her sixties and overweight but if she were at a healthy weight could still pass for her forties. has nothing to do with lifestyle in our case as she has raised 5 children on her own which was incredibly hard on all of us. I sure hope I look forty when I hit my sixties | |

| Why don't you age? Posted: 9/5/2009 3:21:51 PM | Various healthy lifestyle choices really don't matter that much in terms of outward beauty. The "tv types" usually aren't the most wholesome women around (all Hollywood [not to mention healthier countries than the US like most of Europe and Japan smoke], they just try to hide it because people sue them if they see them smoke) and there are plenty of health-conscious women who are already starting to look like longshoremen as early as in their 20s.
Obviously genetics also plays a role, but the other reason is that it's psychosomatic. As simple as that sounds as a solution, it's also nearly impossible to manipulate because it's rooted in ones value's, perception of self and role in life. For example, a woman who lives vicariously through her children, or rather the sort of person who WOULD, will not age well. A woman who finds partners not because of what they offer as unique individuals, but because of the number of categories they are adequate in and a lack of things that they do notably wrong will also not age well.

I see a lot of the women that post in the forums and most of them do look younger than they say they are. With a lot of the men it is the opposite.
Women have had to have incredible powers to rejuvenate themselves from the physical drain of childbearing and nursing. Remember, until the Pill about 60 years ago women had many more babies than they do now and they rarely slept through the night for years on end. This aged them really fast. When you gestate a baby it takes the nutrients right out of your bones, teeth, skin hair and muscles if your diet does not keep ahead of the babies needs and lets face it few people eat that well.
So I think it's not so long ago that women wer just plain worn out by the time they were 40 with 6 - 10 kids.
So I think women seem younger these days because that ability to regenerate has been turned on themselves instead of into their babies. It's a theory.

| Why don't you age? Posted: 9/8/2009 3:17:53 PM | *Use a good sunscreen, a good moisturizer with peptides, and exfoliate your skin. *Avoid smoking, caffeine, and too much alcohol and stay active, which will keep your circulation going and cycle oxygen throughout your body. *Keep your hair in good condition - dry hair will also age your face *Make every attempt to eat a diet high in anti-oxidants, or take supplements if necessary *Get all the sleep you need
These are some things the "commoners" without vast sums of money do to keep their skin youthful. Most of those "tv types" will just rely on plastic surgery tweaks and botox because they have the moolah and they're not likely to cut out drinking and partying......
Be well...... | |

| Why don't you age? Posted: 9/8/2009 3:45:01 PM | Well I've not really done anything to promote looking youthful myself. I don't use sunscreen, I don't use lotions and potions for my skin; I wash with whatever bar soap I happen to pick up at the grocery store. I drink tons of coffee at work. I drink socially and occasionally too much. I don't watch watch how many anti oxidant I'm consuming. I think the only things I do are exercises..not a lot though and there are fat youthful looking people out there too. I don't eat a lot of junk food or take out and I also take my vitamins, when I remember to. I really don't try. I do believe it's genetics but taking care of ones diet and body will definitely help. | |

| Why don't you age? Posted: 9/8/2009 7:18:14 PM | ~OT~ I've followed this thread for a while and watched people in the offline world and I think that those who truly don't know they look young are the one's who really don't look their age or rather, look younger than their chronological years. Maybe there is a certain peace that comes with embracing the number itself? I dunno. It seems that those who profess to looking/acting/thinking/etc., etc., younger than their years ~ look every bit their age. Of course there are exceptions, but.........

| Why don't you age? Posted: 9/10/2009 3:32:17 AM | | i think it does have a lot to do with what you put into your body and the lifestyle you lead. I always get mistaken for being younger, to the point of having to carry id when i go out.. i am careful what i eat, i dont drink and never smoked.. but then i love the sun.. i do feel that some of it is genetics too.. coz my mum and grandma certainly dont look their age...i also agree it is how you carry yourself and how you dress... i certainly dont feel like a 40 year old.. and most often or not act a lot younger, and i guess dress youngish too... so must be a combination, what you put into your body, genetics and attitude... well then there is the theory your only as old as the man your feeling too!!! | |

| Why don't you age? Posted: 9/10/2009 7:31:57 AM | I sorta liked that Canadian mention on the first page of the thread. I hope to look the same when I'm 47 years old!
Considered I sorta looked like I do since I was 27 (well had more muscle and hair).

| Why don't you age? Posted: 9/11/2009 8:04:46 PM | I do age though OP, all women do, and whats wrong with that? I'm coming up to 40 years old, and I think the only thing Ive done that may have prevented me looking about 50 right now, is not having children. Apart from that, I've smoked heavilly for years, ate junk food, albeit vegan, but still junky stuff,.. and have drank more than I should on occaision too, and yes, I look my 39 years and Im fine with that. The only concession Ive made to looking younger I would say, is dyeing my hair, because the grey makes me look very old and staid. But thats as far as I go. I'm not afraid to look my age or older, its not a big deal. We all age, and older people have their own beauty. G. x | |

My mother looks to be in her early 50's and she's 66.

| Why don't you age? Posted: 9/13/2009 6:06:17 AM | | I agree,,,it has to be genetics. The women on my mothers side of the family look much younger than their actual ages. My g-grandmother lived to be 102 yrs old and still lived in her own house, by herself. My 85 yr old grandmother plays golf twice a week and works out at Curves 3 days a week. Also, my 65 yr old Aunt looks young enough that she found herself and married a man younger than me! lol Incidentally, i smoke and have been a pack a day smoker for 27 years, and have used tanning beds for 15 yrs now. No wrinkles or bad skin here! | |

39???? How old is that picture you are using you look like you are closer to 29 than 39. I mean I recently had some women check out my profile that they say that they are between 37 and 39 but look a hell of a lot older than that.

Msg: 5 My guess? Genes, and of course in the end "what you eat".
If you eat crap, you look like crap, as the saying goes: "You are what you eat".
Then there is sun, sun simply does "kill" skin, no way around it. If you're constantly outside and exposed your skin will be toast sooner rather than later.
But in the end: Genes.
-If I am what I eat I am Fast, Cheap and Easy hahaha

| Why don't you age? Posted: 9/15/2009 5:52:04 AM | I believe genes is a part of it but the majority of it is how you live your life. Some of us look good but our parents are overweight yet have good skin which means a big part of looking good is how you live your life. I believe in keeping a healthy weight and size as the more overweight you are, the older you look. Exercise, meditation/prayer, eating well (never mind it's not always healthy), sex, wine, being optimistic and trying to find the good and beauty in everything, as well as letting go of the small stuff rather than causing yourself stress, learning to choose your battles, being happy with yourself, helping others even when they won't do the same for you.....all these contribute to aging gracefully and looking younger than you really are. By doing all these things, blessings of youth shall come your way. | |

| Why don't you age? Posted: 9/16/2009 7:26:10 AM | Staying young does have it's downside for me though.
I have trouble getting attention from women between 35~40 becuase they feel I look too young (even though I am 37).
I attract more women under say 28, but once they find out my age, they are like "Woah, that's way too old".
Well, except for my last gf who was 25. But other than her, I feel that with most women, in which age is important, I am stuck with a limited age range of 30~34.

| Why don't you age? Posted: 9/16/2009 9:47:13 AM | | okay, Im not a female, obviously, but I can tell you fitness, being active, eating healthy, not smoking, not excessively drinking and having a positive, pleasant disposition in life will do amazing things to keep your youth! | |

| Why don't you age? Posted: 9/17/2009 1:04:46 AM | Eat Healthy, get lots of exercise. Worked for me. I ended up looking a bit younger when I got off my fat ass and did something about it. Still not done, but I'm well on my way. Topped out at a 44" waist, down to a 36" waist, looking to hit a 32" waist.
oh yeah, don't smoke, don't really drink (You know, maybe a couple a week) No longer eat crap like it's going out of style, I dont' get too much sun if I can avoid it.
