| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/24/2006 3:16:34 AM | | So true g/f look after what you have, and yes genes do help, but some of us are born just more attractive than others, fact of life. | |
|
| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/24/2006 4:26:21 AM | | Thanks goddess, but I've known some pretty sweet looking people and run into them years later.....holy crap. They must have really pissed off Father Time. | |

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/24/2006 4:33:12 AM | | Well your surly one lovely looking lady, and im not into women, but credit where its due.I guess at my age old father time has been good to me,i hope i have a few years left before he turns the tables on me.I have spent many years in the sun(here in Australia,we have sun all year) no excuse, there are products called sunscreen, and dont worry about others,we deserve to spend money on looking good.I dont smoke, drink do drugs, and i never date anyone over 30. | |
|
| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/24/2006 6:37:12 AM | I've had a fairly tough life, but still get told that I don't look my age at all. I get told that I look 35 when I'm 41. Not bad, eh??
I don't do suntanning and use a really good moisturizing cream on my face. And I only ever feel like I am 20, so I do believe that if you feel young, it shows.
Also, DRINK LOTS OF WATER. I usually drink over 2 litres per day and it keeps your skin hydrated.
|
| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/24/2006 9:59:25 AM | i'm 33, but most people guess i'm only 25-26...i've gotten younger guesses, but i credit that to drunk men trying to flatter me. *lol* i have had to actually get ID out to prove my age to the occasional person who just wouldn't believe me.
i don't think i did anything particularly unusual that sets me apart from other women, except that i've never been a smoker and that i never wear foundation makeup (just lipstick and eyeshadow). i also think i have good genes...my parents' have tended to look young for their age too, and the years didn't really start catching up to their appearance til they reached their mid sixties...hopefully that's a good sign for me as well.

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/24/2006 7:26:48 PM | my ten plus years younger friends get taken for older than me, or I younger than them. They smoke or have, they drink, they go out in the sun a lot. I love the outdoors but have been sun conscious since I was very young. Of course I never was a smoker and I'm a rare drinker-it's usually for a medicinal purpose if I bother. I've had periods when my diet wasn't the greatest, and I've had health traumas, one which resulted in a very sudden weight gain, and I've noticed, rather quickly, how these have negatively affected my appearance, age-wise. I've begun to get rather shallow, because I look at men my age or older and it seems their hard life is giving them away at this point. I want someone who has a healthy way of life, and pretty much always has and always will-not a recent convert. I guess that is what I find so appealing about one man in particular, he's my age, and a close look will show it, but he's lived clean and it's obvious.
Genes? Yes, sure, some but it's still more about how a life was lived.

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/24/2006 8:05:17 PM | | Lets have a thread for people who are told they look old for their age. | |
|
| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/24/2006 10:11:41 PM | I've been told I look young for my age (if you disagree please don't feel the need to pummel me here, LOL). I break most of the rules, but I do exercise and drink tons and tons of water. But I think that the best thing I've done for my skin over the years is always wash my face and moisturize before I got to bed. I know lots of women who sleep in their makeup and that is just awful for your skin.

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/24/2006 11:34:53 PM | | I'm gonna be 36 soon. I get told a lot that I don't look it. Honestly not too sure what the heck 36 should look like anyway. | |
|
| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/25/2006 11:10:27 AM | I keep trying to lie about my age and say that I'm older than I am but there's always someone nearby in this small town who rebutts my statments. I say "I'm 40" well, it's only a two year fudge. Then people say "Wow, you don't look it at all." One day this will bust me in the chops when someone will just nod and believe me."
When I was going through a whole lotta trauma, physically, I went from people thinking I was ten years younger, to people thinking I was about five years older than I was-overnight change. As I recovered, so did my appearance of my *age*. When the body suffers, the face is the evidence.

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/25/2006 12:02:09 PM | | @hammerp: I have been told I look old. But mostly by high schoolers and 20 somethings that are my age. Just stupid people. I have been told I look 29. | |
|
| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/25/2006 6:20:00 PM | The main thing for me is that I've always limited my exposure to the sun. Most of the friends I grew up with fried themselves on the beach. I hardly ever sunbathed (found it boring, actually). I take care of my skin - always wash my face before I go to bed, use moisturizer, sunscreen. Was a vegetarian for years. Work out. Have a young attitude. People whom I just meet are amazed to learn I'm 42.
My parents have always looked young for their ages, so I think part of it could be attributed to genes, too.

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/25/2006 7:05:59 PM |
Mostly genes for me (thanks mom...wuv u) but also the woman in my family take care of themselves inside and out, mind and body. Eat right, most of the time. Exercise, most of the time. Indulge and splurg now and then. Be happy and youthful on the inside and it shines on the outside.
So true! | |
|
| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/25/2006 10:02:25 PM | | Shy or nervous or underconfident people look young. They look their age when they are relaxed like everybody else. diet or staying out of the sun makes no difference. are skin loses its elasticity as we age. and we ALL age at about the same rate and we ALL think we look young. | |
|
| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/25/2006 10:31:44 PM | hammerp - staying out of the sun doesn't help? Do you read at all? Watch the news? Really know anything at all about skin? Sun DOES damage the skin - have you ever heard of skin cancer? ALL toxins whether internal or external affect our whole body, including our skin. Living a healthy lifestyle doesn't necessarily mean you'll live longer, but you more than likely will not look your age.
Smoking, drinking, air pollution, sun overexposure, lack of sleep, drugs, lack of water intake, are just a few of the many things that affect our skin and bodies negatively. WRINKLES are what makes people look older, all of the above will cause wrinkles. And, NOBODY ages at the same rate, otherwise why would all of these people be asking the same question? Your nationality will also play a role as does heredity. But, once the damage is already done the only way to really correct it is one of those horrid acid peels, yikes! Thank god I started taking care of myself at a very young age!

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/25/2006 10:39:21 PM | lmao....I am told that I do not look bad for a man in his 70's.......lol
What is this thread all about? How many truly think they look much older than they really are? Most on here look their age or within five years one way or the other.....what is the point??????.....
Why not just forget the age thing and just enjoy the one you are with if there is an attraction and desire to know them better????
Just my opinion..... | |

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/25/2006 10:45:01 PM | | Because they're all fishing for that "no way, you don't look (insert age here)". | |
|
| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/26/2006 1:22:52 AM | | It's sad or funny to hear all these older females that have stayed out of the sun and eaten right over the years and think somehow they have turned back the clock. The truth is that they look like healthy OLD ladies. | |

No one is claiming to have "turned back the clock". Why are you being so nasty?
|
| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/26/2006 6:13:30 PM | Well I've read the more melanin in your skin, the slower you age. That is all I can say because I use to smoke, drink, party and everything else. So I guess being dark has helped me. Black is beautiful! | |
|
| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/26/2006 8:50:01 PM | Cocopuff, that is true.
Lucky you!
I have lily white, Irish/English skin. Probably about the worst when it comes to aging fast, but so far, I've been lucky.

Because he is an unattractive, double chinned bitter man who doesn't understand why no one will date him even though he claims to be "very handsome".
|
| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/26/2006 11:08:39 PM | | anybody who has their head tilted that way is going to have a second chin. i look pretty good for someone who eats a ton of junk food. anyway, i have done a couple marathons since then. I still standby "very handsome". Hiking pics are notoriously unflattering. | |

| Why don't you age? Posted: 6/27/2006 2:36:20 AM | C Deacon is one of the few here to say it like it is.
Too much emphasis is placed on age -- why not concentrate on bettering the inner self more and as c. deacon pointed out -- enjoy who you are and the one you are with.
Besides, we can all diet, stay out of the sun, run our hearts out, and stay away from booze and cigarettes -- and guess what? We die anyway!
