| Why do younger women think guys in their late 40's are to old to start a family Posted: 6/21/2006 10:08:28 AM | Actually, Genuine, conventional thinking has it that older men are MUCH more patient (and mature) than younger men. What they lack in energy (arguable as well) they more than make up for in attributes gained through experience and sheer "living".
I guess my EX must be saving up all that maturity and patience for a much younger woman, if she happens to come along, because Lord knows he didn't have any with me.

| Why do younger women think guys in their late 40's are to old to start a family Posted: 6/21/2006 11:22:17 AM | that would be a good question. In my experience.....men your age already have grown kids or are too set in their ways to want to go thru the whole experience. They usually don't mind if i have kids but when i mention that i'd like one more they run and hide......LOL
I think as long as you're in good health, have a good work ethic and are family oriented then you should go for it. The problem i see in store for you as that you will have to find a younger women.......sorry to say but that will be a difficult thing to do. I truly wish you luck!

I believe in northeamerican society older age is more of a taboo than in places like Europe for example. Have you thought of a european woman?. I find most answer given to you here quite negative. It goes to show you their mentallity of youth being ok.....older being not ok. You have much to give to a child a lot more than these people can imagine. Find open minded people. Be a bit more open minded yourself. Your profile does sound negative, but then on the other hand i do understand your frustration. Ohh........another tip....perhaps you should widen up your search to some older women too. Not all women cease to be fertile after 30.....and.......shave your beard. It makes you look even older.

Myself, I dunno, I certainly have always "wanted" kids, but... I dated a woman in my 20's who was older, had her tubes tied, and was willing to give up the idea for love. Dated two women after that with kids, was more than willing to "inherit a family" if that had worked out. Now, I'm 42 in a month, I dunno... If I met a younger woman with kids, or who wanted kids, neither would be a negative. Do I want to be 62 with a teenager? I dunno. I guess all I can say is, for the right woman I'd be open to anything, either way.

| Why do younger women think guys in their late 40's are to old to start a family Posted: 6/21/2006 12:21:43 PM | I give up, almost everyone here is tell me that I'm wrong. I've never had children and I realized that I have missed out on something wonderful!!! I have no problem getting up in the middle of the night taking care of my child. Hell I would have no problem find a lady who would love to have a family man and father for her children or even adopting! As for being done wrong hell half of the women on this site have to me to go take a flying leap - to put in mildly! Again I have just realized what I’ve missed out on and there is NO ONE here willing to take a chance. Most every woman here wants it her way and have no idea what is to compromise, to share or even try to work towards a common goal. Their way or the highway. OK I’m sorry I put this up here and I give up! | |

I'm not sure how you can make a bold in ALL CAPITALS statement like
"ALL THE WOMEN ON THIS WEBSITE ARE SELFISH AND WANT LIFE THIER WAY. NOW ONE KNOWS HOW TO SHARE OR EVEN WANTS TO WORK TOGETHER!"
In the first line of your profile and expect any positive responses at all. Granted I don't know how long that line has been there or how your profile maybe used to read but stil...

| Why do younger women think guys in their late 40's are to old to start a family Posted: 6/21/2006 12:30:55 PM | Hi
Not to be rude but basically you are getting old, think about this. You have not even found someone, so give that a year (which is being really fair), then get married and have a child. By that time you are in your early 50's. You will be retirement age by the time that child is a teenager. ARE YOU BEING FAIR TO THE CHILD. They will only know an old parent. And you make feel younger (so do I) but the reality is this is your age. You could develop health problems and then what is the child left with, an old sick father.
I love children, wanted more BUT when I got to a certain age gave up on the idea because it was being selfish. so the bottom line is that I think it is selfish and all about your ego.
Lets face it it did not take you to your late forties to find out your ex did not want children.

| Why do younger women think guys in their late 40's are to old to start a family Posted: 6/21/2006 12:42:36 PM | It's fine to want children and it's also fine not to want children. There's nothing wrong with either a man or woman wanting a family. It's normal and many people do want it at some point in their lives.
Why is it that if a woman or man may not want children for whatever reason is "downright mean and selfish?" Maybe sh/he has them, or doesn't like kids, or likes them, but parenting is not what they would want for their future. Forcing parenthood on someone that does not want it is not fair to that person or the children. If parenting is a "common goal" that is one thing, but why can't a women or man exercise freedom to live life?
For the OP, I hope you find what you are looking for, but realize many people have different goals. They are not bad people, just people on a different path in life.

| Why do younger women think guys in their late 40's are to old to start a family Posted: 6/21/2006 1:11:01 PM | I dated a guy for 6 years, 13 years my senior. He had three kids and said he wanted more...i waited 5 years too long to realize he was full of shit and just liked the trophy on his arm. Kept throwing a carrot...i have an appointment...tests are inconclusive....not the right time...wait til we save for a house...bla bla bla
Despite that experience, I would not shy away from anyone who was integral and honest regardless of age. Fitness and lifestyle matter more than numbers.
There are no guarantees in life. Parents bury children everyday. Do you think they would ever say I wish I had never had a child-if I had known this.(?)
Who is to judge and say yay or nay. If the couple is strong... My only concern would be the haste in which you may get into a relationship to acheive this goal. Be selective, do not settle and lighten up on the women. If you are not their cup of tea, do not vent...move on... It is going to be tougher the older you are, but this whole "I give up everyone is against me" attitude is so self serving and does not nurture or promote a loving environment.
What is the old adage...? Better to have loved and lost than never have loved at all.

| Why do younger women think guys in their late 40's are to old to start a family Posted: 6/21/2006 1:24:09 PM | hey....... I'll sell ya my daughter......... she's 23. Little b!tch almost killed me at birth and is still trying to kill me today, LOL Joking really. Hope you find what you are looking for. Even though all my reproductive plumbing is working just fine, if I ever got pregnant again I would put a bullit through my head.
And by the way, my daughter really is the love of my life, but honestly.... if I had to do it all over again, I would not have gotten pregnant in the first place.

| Why do younger women think guys in their late 40's are to old to start a family Posted: 6/21/2006 3:33:09 PM | | Wanting to start a family this late in life is not necessarily wrong, it's the way you are going about it. I see you've toned down the profile some, but you're still lying about how old you are. If adopting is really an option for you, then what's wrong with women closer in age? Open up to more possibilities. | |

| Why do younger women think guys in their late 40's are to old to start a family Posted: 6/22/2006 4:24:21 AM | OP...the point here is not that you are too old..it is that you should be realistic about your expectations based on whatever age you are. I have read over your profile as well...and while it may have been a great opportunity for you to vent...you will not find too many women that are going to bother. May I suggest that you try a more positive outlook? No one likes a grumpy old man. And I don't mean that to be derogatory...I mean that for you to look within. Really OP, until you change your perspective on life/women/children etc...you will find that many will continue to pass you by. If you truly change to a more positive you...you may just find someone that will want to share their life with you....and if you don't, as love/life is not always fair...at least you will enjoy yourself for who you are and be a much healthier individual. | |

| Why do younger women think guys in their late 40's are to old to start a family Posted: 6/22/2006 5:19:42 AM | | Well I suppose it depends on the general age of women u go out with. Would many women the same age as u be interested in having a child... who knows women are having kids later in life but I don't fancy being 60 with a 10 yr old. Well alot of guys in their 30's seem to think they're 18 lol but it doesn't mean they are... possibly the fact u have a child older u will be more relaxed with them and feel u have more to offer them it isn't seen as such a biggie how old the dad is but I think there has to be a personal limit where u say if I haven't had a child by this time I will leave it because tbh u say women think men in their 40's shouldn't be having kids but you are soon to be in your 50's however it makes me look at men like Michael Douglas and Bob Monkhouse and they have had kids older xjx | |

| Why do younger women think guys in their late 40's are to old to start a family Posted: 6/22/2006 6:09:35 AM | | I would suggest that you seek profile advice but I fear that you might actually fix your profile and shed it of the anger and bitterness. Then some poor unsuspecting woman might date you. No offense, well maybe a little. But you REALLY don't come off well. Maybe you're not so bitter in real life but it practically oozes from your profile. I had to whipe my screen with a tissue after viewing it. | |

| Why do younger women think guys in their late 40's are to old to start a family Posted: 6/22/2006 6:24:51 AM | Lots of older men are having children with younger woman. I know of three couples who are happy and doing just that.
I also know of a guy who at 49, after being one year of being married had a son. He is a dedicated husband, father, grandfather. But now he is saying, what the hell was I thinking. I have to agree with him. It takes alot out of you.
You have to think about what energy level you are going to have when you son or daughter is 10 and your 60? Will your health be okay? Will you be there for them? Sad but true.
Have to do whats right for you. As for younger woman not wanting to start a family with a older man, some do and some do not want to sleep with daddy.
