| do you ever feel that moving to a different country would be like starting a new life? Posted: 2/24/2005 5:34:58 PM | I did it ...
Portugal, lovely country, nice family, nice friends, good career, fc porto ....
But I had a great professional opportunity to come to the US. You can not refuse it, after all the personal chance is as exciting, you get to know it with your own eyes ...
So I came alone, after all I love adventure ...
Major piece of bullsh*t... I was just running ...
And the question I ask myself, and that you need to ask yourself is: - who are you running from ? the past, and people that hurt you, or .... yourself ?
I was running from myself ... and it will not work ... You will do a lot of the same things, can call them mistakes or not ...
I told you before and will repeat it honey, you are too thoughtful as I am too thoughful, and we are not supposed to live a life according to standard patterns, simply because in our eyes things are much more complex, and we will live a life just trying to understand ...
And that is who you are, who I am ... And be aware that doesn't change when you change continents ...
I'll tell you move, go, feel the freedom, but do not believe it's a fresh start ... it's just the next chapter of the story ... the story of who you are. | |

it was just a question in general to find out if anyone has managed to free their past by starting a new life which means moving to a different location
Bored, I moved from the UK to the US on my own in 1999...okay I had a job, but it was terrifying....and also incredibly lonely trying to make a new life. At the time I wasn't running away from anything. A couple of months ago I left my husband in MN and moved to Memphis...again I had a job, but the same issues applied. I don't know anyone down here and it's harder than Atlanta to make friends and find things to do. Again it's very lonely. Don't think that moving somewhere else will be new and exciting straight away...don't under estimate how important the support or friends and family is. One of the reasons I am seriously considering moving back home to the UK....
Not sure any of this helps, but send me a msg if you want to talk any more.
Thinking of you. | |

| do you ever feel that moving to a different country would be like starting a new life? Posted: 12/3/2006 9:22:03 PM | YES! I was going to move to Australia in October of next year. I had it all planed to the penny how I was going to do it. I spoke with my kids, I made arrangements, I was shopping for a house and searching for a job, and then I lost my job here and I'm trying to start over again from scratch. I had something to work towards..but now I'm starting to feel like maybe it was all a delusion..no I didn't mean illusion, I'm a smart girl I know the difference. I fell in love with a man there and was delusional thinking that it would be a great love story like outcome..kind of comical. But in the end I'm still wanting to move there even though I'm fairly certain that nothing would ever become of he and I. My daughter is excited about the prospect of year round schooling..I know kind of sick but she's an odd girl like her Momma. And I'm still looking at homes despite the fact that I won't get there for another couple of years. I'm trying to figure out how to export my classic car and what to do to my house to make it a renters heaven. One day I will go..after I finish my law course and intern at a law office here for a bit for experience. Once I have it all down pat I'm gone to start over. I figure whats the difference, I'm already alone here, might as well be warm while I'm doing it. I HATE WINTER!!!!! Snow SUCKS! | |

| do you ever feel that moving to a different country would be like starting a new life? Posted: 3/4/2008 11:16:06 PM | | Yes I would feel moving to a different country would be starting a new life. There would be a change of government and laws. There would be a change in culture. There would be a change in celibrations and traditions. There would be a change in communications as expressions could mean different things. So by moving to a different country you are sort of being born again but you will be learning at a faster rate do to your experience. The only thing you should ask yourself would be why you want to move for? | |
