For all of you who think that the wiretapping is illegal, I direct your attention to the second line, where it states

That, ladies and gentlemen, is why, it is not illegal, for it was done, with probable cause, and no warrant is needed...
Now, I hope you are also aware that these wiretappings, while a little creepy, I grant you that, they are needed to help protect this country. Furthermore, these wiretaps do not record the phone conversations, they merely record the numbers that come into play, no one is listening in. there isn't some desk jockey that is listening into a couples phone sex session at 12 o'clock at night...so, if you are not a terrorist or have dealings with terrorists, what the problem
Now as for my own opinion,
I do not like this president, I do not agree with most of the things that he and his admin. has done for the past near 8 years, but accusing him of doing something illegal and unconstitutional, I draw the line from disagreement of ones opinions, to slander. | |

But my county was trying to pass a bill that branched out from that, stating that they could take away any piece of land for any reason...to build anything, Better houses, Condo's whatever....and the scary thing is, it happened a few times....not where I live, that bill went down in flames, but it has happened in other places. | |

the law needs a warrant to search and no warrants shall issue BUT UPON PROBABLY CAUSE, SUPPORTED BY OATH OR AFFIRMATION; and even that can be thrown out of court IF the law enforcement officer was mistaken or lying or obtained evidence through illegal means of discovery, like entering a house without a warrant.

Posted: 7/21/2006 4:59:53 PM | It was NOT "illegal wiretapping." It wasn't even wiretapping, it was scanning for international signals. There is nothing "domestic" about it. Bush went before the National Security Court to get approval. Read the original NY Times article that blew it out of proportion, even:
"The Bush administration had briefed congressional leaders about the program and notified the judge in charge of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, the secret Washington court that handles national security issues."
Nothing illegal there, nothing at all. This really shouldn't even have been news. Clinton did the same stuff while in office, nobody complained then. Because the fact of the matter is there is NOTHING illegal about it. It was done within the full use of the law.
The facts of the matter are that the war in Iraq was not illegal, the war would still have been legal if there were no WMDs ever found (which by UN definition there were over 200+ of found so far), Bush did not do any "illegal wiretapping," and by the way, what exactly is your grand plan to "secure the borders?"
Total border security is impossible. Hell, at the Berlin Wall, the Soviets had sentries posted to shoot people trying to escape, and people STILL got through, and that was the Berlin Wall. You going to secure the border between the U.S. and Mexico?
How? Post sentries to shoot illegals? Nope, that's just plain wrong, and even if enacted, historically proven to not work. Also we lack the man-power, unless they want to create a specific "Border Guard."
Build a wall? Nope, the Chinese tried that, it failed miserably. No man-made obstacle will stop people. Mountains have been traversed by foot-soldier armies before, they could build a wall from one side of Texas to the other and post sentries along it, people would still get through somehow.
Not too many options, are there? It is these reasons why people support Bush. They see the truth alright, and they see that the liberal media is too liberal for them.
And Al Gore won by a small majority of the popular vote; if you think the popular vote should be able to over-ride the electoral college, you want a true democracy, not a representative republic. A full democracy is a bad thing. They couldn't tell at the time who had won, because the margin was so close, so they voted on Bush. Bush won the second term by the popular vote, and he is a very brave leader, actually. A coward doesn't do things that could be political suicide for their next election. It takes a brave President to take a country to a war, a war that a lot of people think may not even be justified (though it is), and expect to get elected in the next election.
IMO, he will probably go down as one of our greatest Presidents.
