What's the stupidest thing you've ever done in the name of love?

I was anxious to see my girlfriend at the time and driving out to see her. I was anticipating meeting her so much I smashed my car into the one in front of me, locked my bumper right into it. Tried to separate it with a prybar, had to have a towtruck come. They had raise my car's rear up and take air out of the tires to get them unhooked.

A crooked cop who did not even see the accident ticketed me for "following too closely" when I was not and even the guy I hit recognized that and told me that.

But the law kept dogging me, calling me into court repeatedly over this stupid bogus ticket, until they bullied me into paying for it. I couldn't keep missing college to go in to wait all day for this ticket where the cop never showed up. Over and over again missing school. Not like I hadn't suffered enough for my mistake. Whole front end all smashed up, higher insurance rates...etc..etc

Ignoble ... you make the online thing "uggggghhhh"

Maybe that is why I come online so irregular and gave up hope because of jokes like yours or other people's negative comments to others ... hmmmmm .... I came on here thinking we were all here to be positive and not make jokes or ridicule others ... maybe I am the dummy (shrugging shoulders)

What's the stupidest thing you've ever done in the name of love?

Wrapped my whole life around his dreams, hopes, projects, and whims at the expense of my own.

Accountability? - Yeah .. It was my own dumb choice. No one ever 'asked' me to give up my own dreams. And I've learned over the years that there is no reason why both people can't have their dreams, hopes, projects and whims.. and that in a good - Healthy relationship, both partners encourage and support each other. It isn't all about 'one'.

I called my high school sweet heart after 20 years. Brought him to California and allowed him to take advantage of me.

I ignored those little flags that get raised when something doesn't seem quite right, and just trusted what he told me.

Stupid. Very stupid!

In high school, I knew where all his classes were, where his locker was...lol. In my year book he wrote...i see you in the hallways alot...no kidding...I scheduled it that way Years and years later he was reminiscing about one of our hallway incidences and mentioned where my locker was...I thought that was funny that he knew where my locker was when I had forgotten.

Uh stupid or silly?

Generally, I am pretty much right on the marker with directions of my affections. But, I do find that for the most part there are many times I have found myself puzzled with the thinking of some women. What girl doesn't truthfully understand the "Long-term" ramifications of her actions? But, in the love department amongst many people I like to leave a lasting impression and let's face it no one knows everything...

A long long and long time ago I met this girl at a PAJAMMA party I was hosting. A friend of mine had invited her over from a chat room he had been involved with. It was freaky, but she showed up! So we connected eyes and man we both kind of spinned over the thoughts. It was darn near the coolest. At my party, I was the only one wearing PJ's...hee hee. Sorry about the luck of the spoil sports! LOL I had bought looney-tune PJ's, ya know the ones with scuffy feet. Geeeeeesh Oh Petes it took me forever to find a woman's size big enough to fit me! Well wouldn't ya know it they were tight in the crotch! I could have never guessed that one...lol So I cut the legs off and made it into something else loosening up the pressing dilemma.

So sure enough as a wild personality at times, I am thoughtful too! I had everyone at the party write their phone numbers on my fridge with a dry-erase marker. My roomate at the time thought it was a good idea too. Then the next day I called everyone to make sure they got home okay. The MYSTERY girl got my call and I asked her how, Heya how ya feeling? She told me that she ended up with this guy she didn't know who took her home. It was the same guy who had picked her up and brought her to my party. I said "WHAT????????". Then she told me that the guy who took her home seemed to take longer than expected and she didn't remember much. I told her "Look I don't know you very well, but have you looked at your body and checked yourself out?" Then she laughed.

We hit it off pretty good and sure enough I had her over for a home-cooked meal that week. I asked her things she liked and her response was "Just suprise me." Uh oh, never tell an artist guy such a thing...hee hee. So I cooked PIGS FEET and hid it under this classy tableware. I cooked another dinner, but I just wanted to be a jokester. I lifted the lid and sat down to eat with a straight look on my face after lighting the table candle. There was 30 seconds of delay on her face and then wouldn't ya know it she picked up one of those nasty hoofs and took a bite! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek I knew I had found me a winner! hee hee.

So we lived together years later, but when we dated in our first month I noticed she couldn't look at me straight in the face very often. I knew she had a secret so one day I told her, "Hey hun its okay just tell me when you are ready..."

Then one weekend she said a friend was coming to stay with her from high school. I said "uh...okay". Then her car broke down and I offered to help pick up her friend from the airport. When I got to her place her face looked like a ghost. Then she told me the secret...

She had met a guy before me and in the first 30 days of our relationship didn't know how to handle it cause he had booked a ticket. He lived far away. So I wasn't exactly pleased with her dishonesty, but I drove her to the airport, acted like a friend to her and dropped them off back at her place. This alarmed her a little. The weekend ended and I drove them back to the airport. Then we had "The Talk..."

I told her this is a terrible way to start out things, but I liked her enough to work it out. I have never been a huge advocate of such wishy-washy manner. I asked her to promise never to do something like this again and tearful she told me " I am sorry I promise."

So sure enough we lived together for a couple of years. But, in the second year I wasn't paying enough attention to her. I had become a corporate guy and traveled while working longer hours. So sure enough this girl did her thing and inserted a slight challenge and wake up call for me.

One night she was going out with friends and I was exhausted, so I told her to go have fun. When she left the phone rang and my answering machine at the time picked up. Only I knew the voice on the other end, cause it was the same guy that two years ago I had driven from and to the airport! I knew because I had spoken with him and shaked his hand at the time.

I couldn't believe it!

When she got home I approached her and then again there was that ghost face. We went through this long ordeal of which was heart wrenching. I took her to a counselor and we learned a few valuable life skills together. We were not married, but that doesn't matter to me cause devotion is devotion however you want to define it. At the time we were renting and the lease came up. She said "Ya know I wouldn't blame you for leaving me..."

So I left...

But, ya know even though some people might look at a story like this and say "Man dude you were stupid for going through all that, they don't know the whole picture..."

Cause when you can walk away with pride knowing you did nothing but your best, even by dealing with your own mistake of lacking attentive manner, those lingering days of guilt don't seem to exist...( Grin ) She still is a cool gal, just had to learn the hard way about good emotional boundaries. And I learned the valuable lesson of being more attentive as I should have been...
