I want to quit, but for me i think it has just become a stupid nightime ritual. I can go all day and not smoke...but I NEED to have that smoke before I go to bed.....
Any suggestions??? ?
I say, why quit!?!?!, I wouldn't if I could limit myself to just a couple a day, hell that would be awesome, but I know that 2 a day will eventually be 10, or 15 if I"m drinkin...so I have to stop. But if I were you, I would not even consider it. And thank you for the encouragement, I am on day 5, had a couple of beer last night and didn't smoke, I"m pretty suprised with myself...:) | |

Posted: 6/23/2006 6:04:49 AM | when my bf quit about 8 weeks ago i quit along with him ... 2 weeks .. then i went back to Ontario to visit my family ... and they stress me out :| so now im back to smoking ... i don't smoke a lot .... and my teeth aren't stained but i can thank arm & hammer for that lol
not to mention i'm kind of afraid to quit smoking because i'm afraid i'm going to blow up like a balloon ... i'm over weight right now ... mostly because i had a baby ... but im just afraid its going to get worse if i quit ... sounds stupid right :| | |

But look at it this way....the weather is much better and if you live in a place where you can get out and walk with you baby......you will have something else on your mind to keep you motivated.
If you try to and you fail.....it's not a failure...just a hiccup in your plan it will go away and you can start again.... | |

i try and eat better also ... its hard sometimes i love my veggies but my bf doesnt like them so much ... he likes some but not enough to mix it up everyday ....
but now im also going back to work ... which will keep me on my feet and running all night so thats a plus ... | |

But yes I too want to quit but I just enjoy it sooo much when I am tired/worn out and when I'm stressed. | |

Posted: 6/23/2006 9:48:13 AM | Amoreena....take it one day at a time and don't beat yourself up over it. and......you can use veggies as a snack for you while your bf snacks on something else. Like you said to, you will be going back to work soon....you'll be even more busier then you are now.

Astartes: You're in the process of 'making' someone quit huh?? LOL How about 'helping'... that sounds much nicer.
I did. I told you that I was disappointed that you were still smoking. Then I slapped you and yelled at you and told you to "Get back into the kitchen and make me a pie!"
Also, your advice about being supportive and saying things like "Oh.. you only had two today? That's amazing... good job... i'm proud of you" instead of "Should be none" (or something along those lines).
I know you weren't referring to me just there. Because I never said "Should be none." I just slapped you in the face and walked away.
I'm damn proud of myself for only having 4 smokes a day :) Some recognition of that is nice.
Yes, you are right. You have come a long way in a short period. You cut down to a nearly a quarter of your regular intake and that is commendable. Good job Daie_Zee.

I, myself, and very very proud of you and you have my support through all of this. Call me anytime you need a pick me up to forget about the cigarette. You are doing absolutely amazing if you ask me .

If you have one, don't beat yourself up about it. Just don't have another. You saw me. After 28 years of regularly smoking, this is the longest I have gone without. If I can, you can.

I am dying to quit smoking !!!! I keep looking for that day to quit but it has eluded me for many a year. I did manage to stop for a couple years in the past and yet here I am with a pack before me and a dirty ashtray glaring up at me.
Doesn't help that the cost of cigs, for me, is pretty darn cheap. I pay 4.75 a pack for Maximum Light on the Rez in Eel Ground (just outside of Miramichi).
I have recently become a Foster Parent and one of my girls wrote an essay on quitting smoking, something we worked on together, and boy do I feel guilty every time I light up *double sigh*. But now with two impressionable teenagers in my life I am going to summon the strength to quit, besides they keep me pretty darn busy so that should help lol
P.S. Got a quit smoking book and working on a QUIT DAY as we speak so wish me luck. | |
