Posted: 6/30/2006 8:35:22 PM I don't know if this will help anyone but I 've smoked for over 30 years (god I am old) but what I did to ease the withdrawal of nicotine was cut back one cigarette per day per week. So if you are a long time smoker and if you smoke a pack a day then the next week you smoke only 24 cig per day and so on till you reach your goal. So in theory it would take 25 weeks to quit. It has been two weeks now for me without smoking. The hardest thing was to learn what to do with my extra timeand my hands. So I learnt to swim and whenever I get a craving I jump in the pool or learn a new thing but something that takes concentration. I guess my question is how do those people deal with the urge to smoke....and is it as hard to quit if you only smoke a small amount? As a non smoker it always makes me wonder what the draw is, but then I try and imagine a day without a coffee and I have sort of an idea.
