Well the devils can't open their wallets... It has gotten them in lots of trouble doing that last year, signing Molgilny and Malakhov... As it sits right now, they are $3 mil over the cap and still need to find money to sign 4 players, including Gionta, Hale and Martin.... So we can rule them out of signing anyone else..... The rangers still have $4 mil to spend so I am curious to where they will spend it... I like their team as is right now....Flyers didn't really improve at all in the off season... The d-men they signed are second or third rate defencemen... And they haven't come to terms with Gagne yet either.... I think the Rangers will win the Atlantic division.....

Its Detroit vs Buffalo in the final.
And Detroit becomes the first team to win the Stanley Cup with a European player as its heart and soul leader.

Without Shanny, or Stevie Y, or a goalie??? (because we all know that by April Hasek will be out for the season.) The Lions have a better chance of winning the Super Bowl this year

putter boy....one team you failed to mention in the West is Nashville. They've made some good moves (Arnott, Vasicek, Dumont) and I think as long as Thomas Vokoun they'll give Detroit a real run for the division and will likely win it.

jokester, I'm trying to ignore the Preds because they're the evil nemesis to the Oilers in the past few years, more so than the Flamers... I have to agree with you about Vokoun, if he's healthy the Preds could roll over a few teams. Signing Dumont is outstanding, they're a solid young team, Barry Trotts is a good coach and able to motivate his team.

Who is the heart and soul of the Wings now? Lidstrom? Lang? Zetterberg? I really wonder about Holland's decision making, he has 8 North American players on the current roster... no I don't think you need 20 Canadians or 20 North Americans, but you need to have some because they're more well rounded than a lot of the current European imports.

Actually all you need is 1 great Canadian.
Only one team has ever won without a Canadian as its #1 Heart and Soul Guy.
Thats what worries me about my beloved Red Wings.
But I can dream...

If all you needed was 1 great Canadian to win a Stanley Cup, then why doesn't Wayne Gretzky have 20 rings?

I say Colorado would never win the cup especially of that useless goalie they have Jose Theodore. But i would like to see a canadian stanley cup finals

my prediction:

Montreal vs Vancouver but it will never happen so i am sure

- Canucks now have a solid goalie for the first time in years, since Brodeur took them to the Finals, the Sedin sisters are playing great, Bert's out and taking his attitude with him.

I wish it were possible to virtually punch you in the face.

Brodeur never played for the canucks.... Kirk MacLean was the canucks goalie in 1994 against the awesome Mike Richter of the New York Rangers!!!!!!

Sorry dear, but you're thinking of the "wrong" Brodeur. The Brodeur who took the Canucks to the final was King Richard and it was the 1982 finals vs the Islanders. (A team I'm sure you just LUUUUV!!!)

To Island jokester: "(because we all know that by April Hasek will be out for the season.) "

By APRIL?!?!? Try NOVEMBER!!

One thing I have learned is everyone has a different perspective when it comes to our hockey teams...... We could all watch the same play or whatever and see it through very different eyes...... We are each going to defend our own!!!!!!
