Posted: 6/28/2007 12:49:30 AM | You ever watch an old western, and see the leading lady eye the man's horse, and make a comment about the beauty and sleekness, and power of the horse?
Motorcycles are the modern day Horse....
I've kinda grown up around bikers and bikes, (they've been a side influence, like a dash of cumin in the receipe of life)
I enjoy going to the RepublicOfTexas Biker Rally, going downtown austin for the parade on friday nite.... oh! wave after wave after wave of rolling thunder, mmmm  , then again, i love a good thunderstorm. 
Another part of the attraction is the bad-boy image, all our biker icons are The Fonz, Denis Hopper etc from Eazy Rider, the leather clad bad asses you don't wanna mess with in the bar, Hells Angels, Rob Halford (judaspriest), several rock and roll 'badboys' it gets to us on a primal level... Bikes are hot, and the guys on them will draw our eye, sometimes though, we're more attracted to your bike than we are you... thats what i'm looking at when i'm at the rally
and i'm sure on some level, yeah it has to do with a bike being the worlds biggest vibrator...bzzbzzbzzz | |

2. THE FRESH AIR BLOWING IN YOUR FACE - WARM OR COOL, IT TAKES YOUR BREATH AWAY
3. THE FEEL OF WARM LEATHER ON YOUR SKIN - NO FURTHER EXPLAINATION
4. THE FREEDOM TO SEE AND FEEL THE EARTH ABOVE YOU, AROUND YOU, AND BENEATH YOU
5. NOTHING CAN COMPARE (EXCEPT MAYBE SKYDIVING WHICH I HAVEN'T TRIED YET)

IMO, it's just getting a little too crazy out there.
Motorcycles sales more then double every year, yet so many "don't see us".
I won't ride in Vancouver for that reason. If I move back to a small town I will again but not here.
Legs don't make very good fenders. | |

Like there's romance in hiking, snow skiing, bushwalking, sailing etc... It's an escape from the doldrums of the suburban norm, there's an edge to it, a hint of danger, a touch of 'rebelliusness' (is that a word??). That percieved excitement is the romance...and women love it.
Thrillseekers love living on the edge and many view bikers as thrillseekers, which luckily refers to the minority. There's no such thing as an old thrillseeker, but there are lots of old bikers.

Posted: 7/1/2007 4:18:58 AM | I saw this and just HAD to make a comment...so,..I don't like bikes..I almost got
killed on one. I had road rash all over my face and body. Half my eyebrow was
hanging...I had blood all over me. My friend took me for a ride up in the mountains
we turned a corner..and there was a huge giant boulder right in the road, we could not
pass it. My friend had to make a quick second decision....go off the cliff, thousands
of feet down, we surely would have died. Or,.. he could crash into the boulder. Well
he layed it down on the pavement sideways...we skidded till we hit the boulder. We
layed there...trying to figure out what to do...and checking our injuries. I thought I was
dead. I kept feeling my body...I was dazed. Some family came by,..picked us up. I
wanted to go home..so they took me. My mother was having an early dinner party...
And I showed up at the door looking like a bloody mess! She was horrified...plus I
ruined her dinner party...heheeee So,..I would be hard pressed to want to ride again.
But,...to those who do ride...be safe.  | |

Newbie mid-life crisis motorcycle guys seem intimidated by a lifetime rider who's a woman.
Non- motorcycling guys tend think its weird (apart from the few that seem to like the leather suit).
Lifetime rider guys my age mostly seem to have cruisers so there's an instant incompatibility issue. My observation is that the older guy generally doesn't fit on a sport tourer or sport bike anymore . Cruiser or not, they generally have a nice girlfriend already!

I believe women that own bikes love them, others not really. JMO
I see many women on here stating that its got to be a Harley to be sexy, well take the logo's off and they wouldn't know if was a Harley or a Honda...

Posted: 7/1/2007 7:04:11 AM | 000firefighter - I agree about many people not knowing the difference between a Harley or a Honda. But at one time only a Harley made that roaring sound of power - and that is what created the love and the sex appeal - watching a man with that unleashed power under him - Peter Fonda in the movie Easy Rider also assisted with the mindset and culture. To me, that Harley Roar is one of the first sounds of summer.
Personally I respect Harley as they were the first bikes that created the wonderful sound only heard from a Harley - until others copied it. So, to me Harley is like "the" name brand of bikes - just like facial tissues are referred to and judged by "Kleenex" as they were the first ones with the innovation and forsight to offer something that made the world "take notice"
That is why I list Harleys as things I like. Would I get on another brand of bike...of course unless it was a scooter.........as those are just not my thing. | |

No girlfriend right now,but the bike is totally hot And it has never cheated on me,left me for anyone else,or sent me a text message at work to inform me I was being divorced.
